Mise en Place Design

We had an outstanding experience working with Jennifer and her team at Mise en Place Design on our laundry room renovation. From the very beginning, Jennifer truly listened to our wants and needs and translated them into a space that is both highly functional and beautifully designed. The space planning was incredibly thoughtful, making the room feel efficient, organized, and easy to use. Every detail felt intentional, and the process was smooth and collaborative throughout. The final result is a laundry room that makes doing laundry more enjoyable and provides lots and lots of storage. We highly recommend Mise en Place Design for anyone looking for exceptional design, professionalism, and attention to detail.

We are absolutely thrilled with the results of our remodel and could not be more grateful for the incredible work done by Mise en Place Design! Our home was built in the early 1980s and in desperate need of some updates. Mise en Place Design was recommended by a coworker of mine and, after looking at their client portfolio, I knew this was who we needed to hire for the job. Our project was extensive for a rather small home, involving many layout changes (completely reworking the kitchen design, moving the laundry closet into an expanded powder bathroom, moving and expanding the size of the range, moving our TV over the brick fireplace, raising two sunken living rooms, replacing all flooring and trim, the list goes on). We had the pleasure of working with Jacinda, who was personable, professional and had great attention-to-detail. She quickly caught onto our design style and the final product is such a good mix of modern, rustic, Pacific Northwest style. Mise en Place Design services were absolutely worth the cost. To be able to see renderings of your design and continue to make changes until you are certain you will love the result was invaluable. The final product is beyond our expectations – it’s functional, beautiful, and we repeatedly look around and say to each other “I love our house”. We had some unfortunate challenges with our contractor and some of the material suppliers during the construction phase of our project. Jennifer and Jacinda were responsive and helped us navigate these difficult situations and conversations. They were our advocates, and we were thankful we had them there to help us. Almost our entire downstairs was reworked with this remodel project. We have yet to tackle our upstairs but are very much looking forward to enlisting the services of Mise en Place Design again and working along side Jacinda to freshen up our bedrooms and bathrooms. I know we are in good hands with Jacinda and the entire Mise en Place Design team!

Unbelievably terrible--main designer (Jennifer) did not even bother to show up for the most essential meeting where we were to make major design choices, nor did she provide the samples she'd assured us she would have (this was a reoccurring problem with MEP). We didn't realize how problematic Mise En Place was until we changed to another designer who actually showed up when she said she would, easily produced deliverables and samples on time, and got us out of the jam Mise En Place left us in. MEP was a waste of (a lot of) money and time, and added unnecessary stress to our lives and to our contractor's process. We don't post negative reviews unless we feel the company warrants a warning to stay away.

We recently had the pleasure of working with the team at Mise En Place Design on a year-long project remodeling a kitchen, living room, laundry room and master bath in our condominium penthouse. We couldn’t be happier with the results! Our project faced numerous design challenges due to the building’s concrete structure. However, Mise en Place managed everything with skill and creativity. They offered innovative solutions to maximize our space and devised thoughtful workarounds for various design limitations. For instance, they skillfully navigated around post-tension cables encased in the concrete floor to relocate plumbing and designed around immovable concrete shear walls. One of the major advantages of working with Mise en Place is their ability to pair projects with their top-notch contractor partners. We unexpectedly lost the contractor they helped us select due to health reasons a few weeks before work was set to begin. Mise en Place swiftly connected us with two excellent alternatives. Thanks to their quick action and experience, our project was only delayed by two months. From the very beginning, Mise en Place was incredibly responsive, always available to address our concerns and provide updates. Their innovative solutions perfectly aligned with our lifestyle and design goals, enhancing the overall aesthetic of our space. We truly appreciated their collaborative and creative approach. What truly stood out when working with Mise en Place was their respect for our budget. Mise en Place created a stunning design without compromising on quality or exceeding our financial limits. The professionalism and dedication from the entire Mise en Place team made the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We highly recommend Mise en Place to anyone looking for a talented, resourceful and reliable interior designer. They transformed our condo into a beautiful and functional home that we absolutely love.

The team at Mise en Place, especially Courtney and Jenn, literally made our dreams come true... our dream kitchen. It is beautiful and beautifully designed, it is a show stopper, it looks like it should be on the pages of Architectural Digest Magazine, when my friends see it for the first time, they are stunned! Jennifer and her team are so good at making things beautiful! They helped us transform an old, 60's style compartmentalized kitchen and living room into a gorgeous, open space that we love. We appreciated Jennifer's calm, capable manner in helping problem solve and think creatively.

We hired Jennifer and her team to help us design and project manage a major overhaul of our cabin in Puget Sound. We re-did two bathrooms, added a half bath and completely gutted and renovated a very outdated kitchen. Jen, Katie and Courtney were amazing! Not only did they deliver everything beautifully, but they were fun and great to work! We were able to trust them to oversee and manage the project while we were long distance which was an amazing thing. Jen brought in her trusted contractor and he too overdelivered, not to mention was exceedingly professional and trustworthy. We are SO happy with the end result. I would highly recommend Mise en Place over and over again and would definitely hire them again myself!

Our full kitchen remodel was completed exactly to our vision from design to implementation, thanks to Jennifer and the team at Mise en Place Design. Jennifer's confidence never wavered and stood by her design to completion.Obstacles became better ideas instead of compromise.

We had two sad, very basic bathrooms that were clearly not at their potential. I was aware of Mise en Place and eager for help, and a friend’s gorgeous remodel convinced me it was time to upgrade. Jennifer and her team were upfront, professional, transparent, clearly communicated with us, listened, and provided ideas and creativity. Along with our amazing contractor, all deadlines were met and our bathrooms are bright, functional, beautiful gems! We are very happy and will recommend Mise en Place unreservedly!

I am very pleased to write this excellent review of the work done by the Mise en Place Design team and the supporting craftsman. The advice and counsel they all provided, in a frank yet professional manner was not only expected – but appreciated. We found it “easy” to talk/discuss with the team all aspects of this kitchen redesign effort. There is no apprehension or concern as we ask questions, get advice, etc. Compliments to the Mise en Place Team, along with all the craftsmen on their attention to detail, correcting and making things right (!), and asking us (in a roundabout way) – “do you really want that?” Funny what sounded good yesterday or on the drawing, but when put in perspective, not such a good idea today. Those questions I have been asked I found very applicable and the guidance and counsel I am receiving are excellent. The Mise en Place Design team’s advice concerning contractors is an excellent insight into the industry. And – at the end of the day, you know when one contractor, stops and takes the time to compliment another, things must be going well – and that was the case throughout this effort. The quality of the products suggested by the team was not only met, but exceeded. We, on our own, could simply have not selected such high-quality material.
