I couldn't be happier with my new, custom home and so appreciate their willingness to work on the few minor things after closing as well.

Portland Development Group communicated well throughout the process with myself as the Buyers Agent and my Buyers to achieve their dream home. I appreciate the level of detail they provided and the system they used to fully communicate throughout. Buying a home can be stressful and building a custom home even more so. The level of communication is critical to the success of any project and this appeared to be so much better than other contractors I have had clients work with. The home is gorgeous and my clients are happy.

I represented buyers looking for a home in the Grant Park neighborhood of NE PDX who couldn't be happier with the PDG home they purchased. There were a number of custom finishes and changes done throughout the process and it was done seamlessly to completion. As a Realtor, I will definitely bring my buyers to PDG projects moving forward.

We bought our house from Portland Development Group before it was built and while we were living out of the country. We were a bit concerned since we could not be in town while the house was being built. They made the process so easy for us. They are knowledgeable, professional and answered all our questions in a complete way. They maintained up-to-the-minute communications that included pictures, upcoming choices, options, changes, and progress reports. We assumed they would not be able to meet the deadline for completion, but they assured us they would and they did. We also appreciate their aesthetic sense as they considered the neighborhood when designing the house and choosing the colors and finishes. They made every effort to make sure we were happy with our finished house . . . and we are.

Pros: Friendly, reliable, honest, followed through on promises. Flexible and encouraged our input and suggestions for changes. When something wasn't right, they made a prompt effort to rectify. Con: the only con would be that their choice of (some, but not all) of the finishings and materials was typical "builder-quality" and could have been a higher grade. After all, this was a pretty "hi-end" house. We went through and upgraded many things- e.g. Lite switches, bathroom fixtures, roofing, carpet underpayment, garage door, etc. On the other hand, some of the original spec'd items (e.g. Kitchen faucet and bathroom showers) were quite nice as originally spec'd. Upgrading proved to be a very easy process, but I might have expected some of the items in the original specs.

Great group of people to work with. The entire home building process (a new one for us) was much smoother and easier than we expected. They told us what to expect and when to expect it. When there were bumps in the road, they always did the right thing and fixed the problem. We have been in our new home for almost 6 months now and they have been great about answering questions and coming back to fix even the smallest things.

We purchased a partially constructed house, and worked PDG through the construction process. Their entire team is extremely professional, very responsive and service oriented. They always did the right thing to solve problems that always come up in construction. I'd highly recommend them. Constructing a house is not an easy process and you want a trusted advisor to help you through it. The team at Portland Development is just that.

I purchased a new craftsman style home built by Portland Development Group in May of 2013. The building itself is built like a vault. There is no give in the flooring anywhere on either the first or second floors. My neighbor lives in an identical home built at the same time. His inspector said that the substructure is built to a higher standards than equivalent new homes he has inspected. My inspector and one of my neighbors who witnessed construction both said that the insulation provided is packed tighter with more of it than in most new homes. The layout and interior architecture of the home are extremely well designed. The use of space on both floors is well thought out for the purpose of each room. I like to entertain, and the formal dining room, large living room, and kitchen are just right for evening dinners. I can seat ten people comfortably for dinner. The shelving in the closets is very well designed for maximum use of available space. The first floor interior strikes the right balance between separation of space and openings for passage of light. The windows are thoughtfully placed, and I have strong light throughout the house all day, with light passing through one room to another. At the same time, it is not an open floor plan, and all rooms are clearly delineated from each other, which is my preference. Many of my friends have walked through the door for the first time and said "This is a beautiful home." I wish that PDG had put wood surrounds on the windows and doors on all sides of the house. They are on the front. It makes the illusion near complete that this is a restored 1910 craftsman home. There are no surrounds on the windows on the sides and back, which takes something away from the illusion. PDG was prompt and thorough in addressing all items on my inspection punch list and the few warranty issues that arose after moving in. I felt that there were a few too many items on my initial punch list. For example, several outlets needed rewiring at the outlet to function correctly. But PDG addressed everything promptly, thoroughly and courteously. And all of the issues were well within the range of what is normally expected within the first year in a new home. A job very well done. The home was one of the best designs of the many similar craftsman homes I looked at prior to putting my money down on this one. I took a second look at some of the ones I liked the best with the lead sheets I had saved from each. There is no question I was fortunate to secure this home, because it looked liked I purchased the best of the lot for my particular needs.

We worked with Portland Development Group to build our home in Mt Tabor. Beautiful design with period details. Generally very good construction. The few issues that come up with any new construction were taken care of quickly and to our satisfaction.

I have worked with Portland Development group on a number of projects this past year. My experience is always outstanding! From the quote to the completion of the project, everyone I work with at Portland Development group is so proffessional and prepared, it makes my job easy! They take pride in the quality of their craftsmanship and it shows. I purchased a remodeled older home from PDG, and received a 2 year warrenty. Being an old home, it needed a few things, and in the last 10 months that I have owned it, I have called for assistance several times. Every time, without fail, I was given immediate and respectful service and felt completely satisfied. The workers are skilled and respected my home and time, and I couldnt ask for better service. They also did a very good job designing and decorating the house, using an excellent choice of colors, and materials. I couldnt be happier.
