Studio 818 was working on their Mid Mod house in Wilton Manors when they reached out about our home staging services. Needless to say, as designers ourselves, we couldn't wait to see what they were working on. Let me tell you - it surpassed anything we expected, and more. From the fabulous floorplan to the stone feature wall, the "casita" in the back to the leaf wallpaper in the laundry room - no detail was left to chance, no matter how small or big it would be. Walking into one of their projects is unlike any other you'll see. There is thought and purpose in everything, and you can truly feel that their ultimate goal is to create spaces that are sophisticated and livable at the same time. Working with Janie and JP was a true pleasure. When my wife and I bought our house we did not imagine how hard it is to find a design firm that shares our vision for the house, has a good taste and is responsive, reasonable and available to work. We interviewed several firms, hired one and than realized that it was not a good match. Then we hired Studio 818 and they truly stand above and beyond anybody else we spoke and met with. Janie and JP are very detailed oriented, they complement each other and really worked hard to create our dream home. Janie's is a great listener and is able to bring both visions of my wife and I together which is not an easy task. Her initial proposal was very detailed, accurate and along with the 3D rendering we were able to see exactly how our home will look like. Throughout the process, Janie was "hands on" on the communication with the GC and worked well with all the other contractors to make sure the job was completed on time and the right way at the first time. She is gave us great advice on many things we did not even think about and was very good at sourcing everything that was needed for the house. Everyone at Studio 818 is truly amazing. We had a huge remodel project in Harbor Beach, Fort Lauderdale that had gone south due to disorganization from another design firm. Janie and her team came in and saved the day. Not only she has impeccable taste and is gifted at her craft, but she is also highly organized. From making sure they took time to understand our design aesthetic in the beginning, and building on that with exceptional ideas and a design that we never would have thought of but absolutely loved, I’ve been impressed by the breath of knowledge and connections studio 818 has. Throughout the project there has been attention to detail and a commitment to making sure that our dream is delivered( and within our budget!) I’ve tried to think of a negative thing and nothing came up—they’re that good!

My husband and I were looking to enclose our carport and remodel our kitchen. I was driving in our neighborhood and noticed a friends home which they had sold and the renovation that the new buyers were doing. My husband surprised me with a visit from Studio 818 a couple of years ago along with a proposed remodel of our kitchen. While most people would be elated by this news, I was nervous about the amount of work involved and who would manage the details of the job. We had been burned in the past by local contractors. However, from the moment I met Janie and JP of Studio 818, I felt at ease. Janie is not only knowledgeable in design, but general construction as well. And, the questions she could not answer about construction, JP quickly offered his insight and experience in this area to fill in the gaps. Both Janie and JP listened carefully to my husband's and my desires, which didn't always line up, and offered practical recommendations while being conscientious about our budget. Now, I'm all about staying on budget, but my tastes often lead me in the opposite direction. Thankfully, Janie is particularly strong in finding cost-effective alternatives to high-end finishes, fixtures, and other design elements. She has great connections with local and out-of-state manufacturers, and they all love her, which benefited my husband's wallet (most times!). Throughout our kitchen remodel, which actually extended into our family room and dining area, Janie responded to inquires and issues within 24 hours and immediately when an issue was urgent in nature. We always felt supported and protected by Studio 818. As the project came to a close, I was ecstatic to close the revolving door on all the workers, get rid of the dust, and finally regain normalcy in our lives. I was surprised, however, when the feelings of melancholy set in about not seeing Janie anymore. The girl is charming and fun, and she makes design exciting. A win-win in my book!

My husband and I hired Janie to help us with the remodel/update of our 1970s vacation house in Delray Beach, Florida. As we live in California, it was very important to us that we have someone “on the ground” who could ensure that her architectural design plans were followed by the general contractor and the sub-contractors. We initially chose her because we liked her style, simple but sophisticated. We visited one of her completed projects and were impressed by the details and overall “look”. Janie worked very well with our general contractor. They told me they were impressed by her professionalism and detailed architectural drawings. (It seems there are some designers who do not provide adequate direction). Our remodel entailed a general update of the kitchen/living area/laundry room and one shower. The entire lighting was redone as well; all new interior doors, baseboards, interior painting. The entire flooring of the 1,200 sq ft house was redone. Although the flooring presented some frustrating difficulties, Janie was persistent ( in a nice but assertive manner) with the flooring sub contractor to get the job done correctly. We are happy with the end result and have received many compliments from friends who see the house. It is truly transformed from an unattractive, teeny rooms house into a flowing and comfortable space in which to live and entertain. We highly recommend Janie.

After moving down from NYC a few years ago, we finally decided to put some roots down and purchase a home in South Florida. We found a unique non-Florida style home but the inside needed some TLC as it was original to the mid-1990s. We had never done a renovation and really did not want to as we heard many horror stories about contractors, trades people, etc, but we loved the home so took a chance. We scoured the internet to find a designer/contractor who would be able to make our vision come to life (and within budget!), take care of all the logistics and manage the whole thing. We found Janie and Restore 818 and we're glad we did! Janie did her homework to make sure she understood our styles, idea boards, family needs, budget and all the little details and presented a great vision to bring our place out of the 90s and into the modern era! She has some great trades people who are reliable and skilled come in and do everything from the initial demo to painting and installing. Communication is very important to me when working with someone and Janie made sure she was in touch about upcoming timelines, decisions that had to be made and any troubleshooting. As with any projects, there are unexpected costs but Janie provided cost effective alternatives while balancing our wish lists and being realistic about what is possible. Timeline wise, we were slightly behind but only because of Hurricane Irma, which was an act of God so no one's fault. We came close to being on time as possible and I know Janie really pushed her trades to be a priority, which I appreciated. I highly recommend Janie and Restore 818 - we couldn't have made our dream home without her.
