Wild Craft Permaculture

As we look forward to our heading into our 3rd season of working with Jessica and Wild Craft Permaculture I wanted to take the time to write this review. Jessica started working with in 2014 planning and designing the fields around our new country home into amazing gardens. We wanted easy gardens including including minimal weeding and watering requirements and we wanted to focus on pollination for our future bee project and of course no chemicals of any kind. Year one (2015) started with hugelkulture which we did with Jessica's guidance. Then Jessica started on the planting. Year two more plants we added to the original three gardens as ground cover to help fill in the low spaces. Year three we are adding two more "Island" gardens in the middle of the driveway. It is interesting to let the mind wander on years 4,5,6... Herb gardens and fruit trees possibly. Always on time, always professional with a nack for assisting with negotiations between husband and wife on needs!

Wild Craft Permaculture is a consulting firm that offers a full range of design and application services. A great service for the complex process of permaculture design. Jessie and her team have helped us focus our efforts. We now have a fantastic base map, the initial step, which always alluded me.

Jessie has given us a dream garden! We wanted a naturalized front yard and she and her team installed a beauty in 2012. Every year it gets more lush and passers-by enjoy it almost as much as we do. Plus we get extra joy from the berries and special plants that attract butterflies and birds. Jessie and her team are friendly, competent, and efficient. They got everything done on time on on budget. And the follow up service has been wonderful as well. I highly recommend Wild Craft Permaculture.

My wife and I hired Jessica after doing a lot of research on what we could do with our yard. As neither of us are experienced gardeners, we wanted something that would require minimal maintenance, used indigenous vegetation, and was edible. Jessica provided a thorough consultation, advised on a design, and installed everything herself. She kept us looped in to the process the entire time, giving us many options to choose from, and built an amazing "guild" designed around a sweet cherry tree. Our two young daughters love the garden and regularly pick the strawberries, spinach, and bloody dock at random while running around outside. Our backyard is now a sustainable and beautiful oasis. We love it!

Really enjoyed working with Jessica to create our wonderful front. What a positive experience it was turning our boring grass-covered yard into a more natural space. So exciting to see each plant mature and give us delicious fresh edibles. Jessica has a vast knowledge of native flora evident in the diagrams and reference material put together and presented to us during the planning process. Throughout the experience we worked side by side with Jessica learning as we went. Neighbors would routinely drop by to see our progress - excited to see what would be coming next.

Jessica was just the person we needed to fulfil our permaculture-landscaping aspirations! She listened attentively to our ideas, drew up a number of landscape designs and worked closely with us to develop the best plan. She was conscious of our budget and worked within it. She continues to be involved in our lives as the garden matures, giving advice and support. Photos are available on the webpage.

Jessica is a very good listener. She distills a ton of feedback to create a plan, and then executes it while providing clear direction and motivating others to give their all as well. We worked along side Jessie and her team for a week stripping out old landscape, digging new beds, learning the philosophy behind the plant choices and ways of planting… it was the best week of vacation that we had! Jessie is professorial – she is incredibly bright and shares her wisdom enthusiastically & passionately – a hip young professor not a stodgy older one – one who has a great sense of humour!

Jessica is a rare person of high integrity. When she says she will do something, she does it. If something comes in her way of fulfilling her commitment she is in communication right away to make arrangements to complete the task at a time that works for both parties. She is deep down devoted to nurturing community through her vision for local food security. She is constantly improving her knowledge of permaculture and her network of colleagues who are aligned with her vision. Lois W.
