Built-in custom polished concrete fire -pit with surrounding brick bench with a bluestone cap. Bluestone patio paving with slot of gray beach pebbles. Fire-pit has natural gas with an electric spark starter. Bench seating has a wood screen wall that includes lighting & supports vine growth.

This mudroom accommodates the homeowners daily lifestyle and activities. Baskets and additional storage under the bench hide everyday items and hooks offer a place to hang coats and scarves.

Klopf Architecture, Arterra Landscape Architects, and Flegels Construction updated a classic Eichler open, indoor-outdoor home. Expanding on the original walls of glass and connection to nature that is common in mid-century modern homes. The completely openable walls allow the homeowners to truly open up the living space of the house, transforming it into an open air pavilion, extending the living area outdoors to the private side yards, and taking maximum advantage of indoor-outdoor living opportunities. Taking the concept of borrowed landscape from traditional Japanese architecture, the fountain, concrete bench wall, and natural landscaping bound the indoor-outdoor space. The Truly Open Eichler is a remodeled single-family house in Palo Alto. This 1,712 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom is located in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Bead board and chair rail was installed as a backdrop for the custom made storage benches and trestle table. The outside corners of the eating alcove are protected by corner posts topped with a ball finial. Toe kicks were built in the storage benches to allow even more room for feet. This beautiful family wanted to update their dated family room to be a more glamorous bright inviting room. We removed a corner fireplace that was never used, and designed a custom large built in with room storage, a television, and lots of bookcase shelves for styling with precious decor. We incorporated unique picture molding wall treatment with inverted corners. We brought in a new custom oversized rug, and custom furniture. The room opens to the kitchen, so we incorporated a few pieces in there as well. Lots of reflective chrome and crystal!

The media room features a wool sectional and a pair of vintage Milo Baughman armchairs reupholstered in a snappy green velvet. All upholstered items were made with natural latex cushions wrapped in organic wool in order to eliminate harmful chemicals for our eco and health conscious clients (who were passionate about green interior design). This remodel went from a tiny story-and-a-half Cape Cod, to a charming full two-story home. The mudroom features a bench with cubbies underneath, and a shelf with hooks for additional storage. The full glass back door provides natural light while opening to the backyard for quick access to the detached garage. The wall color in this room is Benjamin Moore HC-170 Stonington Gray.
