Klopf Architecture, Arterra Landscape Architects, and Flegels Construction updated a classic Eichler open, indoor-outdoor home. Expanding on the original walls of glass and connection to nature that is common in mid-century modern homes. The completely openable walls allow the homeowners to truly open up the living space of the house, transforming it into an open air pavilion, extending the living area outdoors to the private side yards, and taking maximum advantage of indoor-outdoor living opportunities. Taking the concept of borrowed landscape from traditional Japanese architecture, the fountain, concrete bench wall, and natural landscaping bound the indoor-outdoor space. The Truly Open Eichler is a remodeled single-family house in Palo Alto. This 1,712 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom is located in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Claw-foot bathtub - traditional master marble floor claw-foot bathtub idea in Boston with multicolored walls

The homeowners were seeking a major renovation from their original master bath. The young family had completed several remodeling projects on the first floor of their 1980’s era home and the time had finally come where they wanted to focus on the second floor, particularly their master bath which was cramped and overpowered by a Jacuzzi-style tub. After multiple design meetings spent choosing the right hardware and materials, everything was set, and the transformation began! Drury designer, Diana Burton, began by borrowing some space from the bedroom this way they were able to reconfigure the whole layout, which made a big difference to the homeowner. The floating vanity cabinets paired with quartz counters, wall-mounted fixtures, and mirrors featuring built-in lighting enhance the room’s sleek, clean look.

This hallway was part of a larger remodel of an attic space which included the hall, master bedroom, bathroom and nursery. Painted a brilliant white and borrowing light from the frosted, glass inset nursery and bedroom doors, this light hardwood space is lined on one side with custom, built-in storage. Making the most of the sloping eave space and pony wall, there is room for stacking, hanging and multiple drawer depths, very versatile storage. The cut-out pulls and toe-kick registers keep the floor and walkway clear of any extrusions. Looking down from the second floor landing. The rear wall is the same brick used on the exterior of the house. A series of skylights above flood the space with light. At the landing is an interior window that brings light into a back hallway that houses a bar and pantry. The staircase consists of a folded plate of metal, open white oak treads, and a winding walnut railing.

This nursery was part of a larger remodel of an attic space which included the hall, master bedroom and bathroom. Light-filled on even the most overcast days, this Portland residence is bright and airy with balance of natural materials playing off a white backdrop. Custom storage has been added throughout the addition tucked into the sloping eave spaces. Room for stacking and multiple drawer depths make storage very versatile. The corner bookshelf is great for toys, books or for a cup of coffee on one of those early mornings. The glass inset door allows borrowed light to spill into the hallway.
