Hi there. Was the paint lightened at all? I purchased Mahagony from Farrow and Ball and it's more brown than purple. I was under the impression that Farrow and Ball dont alter their colors so wondering how you got it to the color in the photo. Thanks!

Penelope, it's American Cherry. It appears a little lighter than in reality because the windows are across.

could you tell me the name of the finish on the cabinets?

The cabinets are made of Cherry wood, with no stain - just the catalyzed lacquer for protection.

The stone is called Dark Bamboo and came from New York Stone.

I'm sorry I missed your message. The paint is Mahogany from Farrow and Ball.

Thank you for your interest. I designed the cabinets and selected the wood, and they were made by the contractor (or rather his cabinet maker) on this project.

Wendy, I'm sorry I missed your question. It's a quartzite from Brazil, from NY Stone in Manhattan - their name: Bronzite. On my sample it reads "Oak Bamboo" - I don't think that the names are universal, meaning that different stone yards may use different names.

This contemporary kitchen uses different cabinetry finishes to create a furniture-style feel. Painted wall cabinets lend a soft backdrop to the wooden island. Slab-front cabinets and contemporary pulls make the feel more contemporary.
