This multi award winning Kitchen features a eye-catching center island ceiling detail, 2 refrigerators and 2 windows leading out to an indoor-outdoor Kitchen featuring a Glass Garage Door opening to panoramic views.

This view shows the play of the different wood tones throughout the space. The different woods keep the eye moving and draw you into the inviting space. We love the classic Cherner counter stools. The nostalgic pendants create some fun and add sculptural interest. All track lighting was replaced and expanded by cutting through beams to create good task lighting for all kitchen surfaces.

This used to be a musty utility area. We converted it into a playroom for the kids complete with built-in alcove beds and a full bathroom. We removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen and bumped the kitchen out in the rear of the house. We created lots of storage, a new island with seating and added windows bringing in much needed natural light. The kitchen is now a hub of activity for the whole family.

The home was built in the mid-1960’s as the personal residence of a commercial developer using commercial construction methodologies and systems. Tying into a structure that is almost entirely steel and concrete, and bringing it up to current code required a greater level of engineering expertise that was managed successfully by the builder. This season, ‘Windy City Rehab’ star Alison Victoria and her partner Mike Holmes from ‘Holmes + Holmes’ teamed up to win the kitchen challenge for the second year in a row. They carried their vision of creating a French countryside home into this space. When it came time to select the appliances Alison just knew she had to go with BlueStar®. She was able to maintain a sense of history without giving up the cutting-edge performance that they provide. After using BlueStar® in her season 1 winning design and being an owner of one herself she knew the combination of cooking performance with almost unlimited customization would be the perfect way to make her kitchen stand out. For the refrigerator she selected the 36” PRO French Door Built-In Refrigerator customized with the same Signal White and Antique Brass trim design as used on the range. By including a painted top grill, the refrigerator becomes more a part of the overall room design and less of an appliance.
