We love what we do! GMT Home Designs is an award-winning, family-owned New England architecture and design firm, and the best part of our work is the relationships we build with our clients and incredible building partners.

We couldn’t be happier with the results of our kitchen, pantry, mudroom, and laundry remodel! GMT exceeded all expectations, truly listening to our wants, needs, and concerns throughout the process. Their attention to detail and dedication to understanding our vision made all the difference.
The detailed plans and renderings they provided gave us complete confidence in our decisions and made the entire build process straightforward. We partnered with GMT through a design-build process and the builder that GMT chose was also fantastic and seamless.
The finished spaces are not only stunning but also incredibly functional. We’re thrilled with our transformed home and highly recommend their exceptional work.

We worked with GMT to design a master suite/garage addition and renovation of our upstairs floor plan. After meeting with several architects and design-build firms we selected GMT because of their process. We loved that their architectural expertise led the design of the new space and they also were able to match us with a trusted builder who would bring the design to life. They asked the right questions to understand both our design and functional needs. At the design meeting, they presented us with renderings from their teamr and matched us with a builder to help us envision the new space and build the confidence we needed to move forward. We hired GMT to help us design an addition to our home so my parents would be able to live with us. Believe the reviews! After searching extensively for the perfect architect, we hired GMT to bring our home renovation/addition to life. In addition to their expert design, the 3D renderings were truly the cherry on top. We couldn't be happier with the end result! The process took a bit longer than expected due to some zoning issues but the GMT team stayed on top of everything and kept the process organized and moving along.
All of the contractors that have seen the final drawings have been so impressed. They all have said the level of detail provided as well as the flow of the design were exceptional.
We wholeheartedly recommend Glenn, Janice, Carrie & the entire GMT team to anyone looking for superior design and service!

Carrie and Glenn were a pleasure to work with. From start to finish, they were professional, kind, and did great work. During the initial meeting, they took the time to listen to our ideas and hopes. They then offered their own perspectives and opinions based on their considerable experience. The process felt very collaborative. The result was a design that met our functional goals for the space while looking beautiful as well. Carrie was always available to field questions and assist with the process. Glenn and his team are very professional. Architect and structure engineering drawing were delivered on time even though there were major changes for our house addition. It includes a great room, a garage with master suit on the top, and foyer upgrade. My husband had loads of questions about AC, water pipes, windows and utility easement in our lot. I had many plans for master bedroom closet and bathroom. Glenn has been very patient and answered each question promptly. The team came in and did the measurement professionally. The visualization of the new house expansion was extremely helpful for me. We were very fortunate to work with GMT and it was great experience.

GMT Home Designs were exceptional helping us design a new porch that fit perfectly into our home design while providing us the internal space we needed. After starting the project we learned that an old property survey was incorrect and it required us to move the porch to the far opposite end of the house. GMT was undeterred with the sudden change and quickly converted our design. We especially enjoyed going to their office to see their proposed layout in 3D with the ability to insert table and chairs, a daybed and rocking chairs to fit. They also had the idea of having a water fountain that we have on order and a full length screen to accentuate the design. The plans met all the building department requirements resulting in immediate approval and compliments from the building inspector. The detailed plans allowed us to be the general contractor hiring the excavation, granite flooring, structure, and electrical from competitive bids for each component. We are absolutely delighted with the design and highly recommend GMT Home Designs to others looking to improve their home and work with a family owned business that takes great pride in their work.

GMT designed an addition (office/guest room, expanded mudroom) and complete first floor renovation (kitchen, half bath to full bath, expansion of living room) for our 100 year old home. GMT’s design fulfilled our vision perfectly blending a modern open floor plan with the dimensions and character of an older home. Glenn, Carrie and the rest of the GMT team were excellent to work with. They met their deadlines, and their innovative use of 3D rendering software greatly helped us to visualize our renovation before it was built. I highly recommend GMT Home Designs! Entering a home renovation is a daunting process, but GMT made the process as smooth as possible. Communication was stellar, including when demolition uncovered some unexpected damage that needed to be repaired and when this homeowner changed their mind on some design aspects during the renovation. We have additional projects planned and won't hesitate to use GMT again.

The GMT team is extremely responsive. From start to finish we had no communication issues. Phone calls were always returned. The design fee is set up front and ended up being lower overall than a by-the-hour professional we had on another project. It was so important for us to be able to visualize how the designed space would look once completed, and GMT is able to show renderings in 3D. The process was seamless. The project was a first floor gut to remove walls, update first floor to open concept, fully renovate the kitchen, expand our front entry (bump out). Once we agreed on the design, a team from GMT came out and took precise measurements. In a meeting with GMT, the General Contractor presented a very detailed timeline and budget (both were met with very few changes). Fast forward six months, and we are thrilled with our new modern space. Thank you Glenn and Carrie Travis for the beautiful design!

Glenn and Carrie are some of the most personable professionals we have ever done business with. They started by both coming out to our property to listen to our wants and visions that we had for a very large addition to our house. Our house was built with cinder-block walls so the addition we were looking for was no easy feat to design. The GMT Home Designs team made our dream a reality. We had some budgeting issues in the beginning but Glenn and Carrie were very responsive to our feedback and turned around with several options for how we could expand our living space without expanding our budget. At the end of the day we made it work and we now own our Gorgeous Dream Home where will be here raising our two children for the rest of our lives. I have used Glenn Travis at GMT Home design for several projects. Glenn and his team are awesome designers and are always coming up with great solutions for my clients and our projects. I love how quickly they can turn an idea into a viable design and plan. Our last project required some complicated stairways leading to a new 3rd floor as well as a complicated 3rd floor layout. They blew me away when they knew the Belmont bylaw for third story square footage and had worked it into their plan with out having to ask! Can't wait to do another project with Glenn and his team!

Introduced to GMT by Sun Valley Homes our contractor to add a first floor bedroom/bath with an enlarged kitchen in a 1930s urban single family home. Reviewed several projects and were impressed with GMT success at liked sized projects.
Started with thorough review and photos of our site and project goals. Then we met in their offices to look at options in an on line computer simulation which they creatively used as we refined our ideas. Presented a first draft of project on paper. After first review we made a major change to enlarge the effort which they seemingly easily adapted
After that we had almost no further direct contact as I assume they worked thru a couple Structural surprises with the contractor. They never returned to the site. This was somewhat surprising but didn’t seem to impact the project.
Nice people to work with who listened and worked closely with us on the overall design.
Project estimate came from contractor . Architect fee was a percent of contract which unfortunately grew as project cost overran estimate.

Over two years ago we went to Glenn with an “idea” for an addition to our home. He and his team patiently worked with us to refine our project scope and to help give us everything we wanted within our budget. Glenn and his team turned our idea into a reality using their incredible 3D design system. For the first time we could actually see our dream home come to life. The entire GMT team is professional and demonstrates a sincere interest in our project. I have worked with GMT Home Designs and his team many times over the last few years. They are a talented design team that uses state of the art architectural design software. The software they use helps me to show clients their house projects in so much detail that they fully understand what the project will look like prior to any construction starting. The system and process they use helps reduce change orders and the fear of not knowing what the project should look like. With most people being very visual this is very important. They communicate and listen to the clients extremely well and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to design a project for both residential and commercial construction !

We worked with Glenn and his team at GMT Home Designs to design an addition for our home to create an open concept kitchen, great room, mudroom, and re-purpose our old living room space into a first floor master suite. We returned home from vacation to find burst water pipes and half of our home destroyed by water! We needed trustworthy and experienced design help right away to get our unplanned renovation underway. Glenn and his talented team were the perfect choice for us as they came through with timely, creative, meticulous and charming design for our home. We felt listened to and then inspired with a design that took our wishes way beyond what we could have visualized without their professional and skilled eyes. As we saw our project unfolding it was so rewarding to know we had turned to the right company. We are making plans to partner with Glenn and GMT again on another project. Thankfully, this time it is a planned endeavor!

GMT did a great job explaining the design process for our new master bath and closet area. Their presentation was tremendously helpful in allowing us to visualize our new space; our few requested changes were made easily. GMT set the stage well for our project that has come in both schedule and budget wise as stated. The design-build relationship between GMT and Encore Construction was a smooth one. We are extremely happy with the project process.

We had the pleasure of working with GMT Home Designs for our addition that is currently underway. The design they created is terrific and the addition connects to the existing house seamlessly. We have received numerous compliments already and give all the credit to the architects! The process was wonderful as well, they were very responsive and easy to work with. Seeing the design on the large screen in their office and virtually walking through the rooms was incredibly helpful. I highly recommend working with Glenn and his team for a project of any size. We just completed our third project designed by his team and could not be happier with the level of knowledge, diligence, communication and overall understanding of our needs.
On this most recent project, Glenn was able to create a design for a new addition that looks like it was always part of the original design of the house. Glenn met with us multiple times before the project began to ensure he understood our needs and our vision for the new space. He provided 3D images and a virtual tour that gave us insight into how the rooms would flow and a perspective on how each room could ultimately be furnished. He and his team also met with us during the construction period and were open to discussing possible changes to the original design that might enhance the functionality of certain spaces. Glenn and Felipe were always focused on our needs and ensuring the design would be appealing.

Glenn Travis and I have been a working team for about a decade. I have been in the remodeling field for over 30 years and have worked with many design and architectural firms. None have compared to the kind of professional design service that I receive from GMT. His attention to detail and focus on the clients individual needs has made the experience astonishing. All of my clients are spoiled after they have work us and the GMT Home Design Team.

I highly recommend working with Glenn at GMT Home Designs for several specific reasons. First, he is experienced and does great work. Second, he has shown himself to be exceptionally trustworthy - he will do what he says he's going to do. Third, he is extremely conscientious about details, while still being easy to work with. And lastly, he communicates well and consistently. House projects can be stressful and these qualities make the project much more like it should be - fun and exciting - because you know what is going on and you know that you are working with someone who wants a great outcome as much as you do.
Glenn has a strong team. The experience working with everyone in the company is consistently high quality. It's great to have an enjoyable process but at the end of the day what matters is the quality of the work, the ingenuity of the design, and the way GMT listens to how you live and gives you more than you expected.

GMT Home recently completed it's second custom plan for my Net Zero Energy subdivision known as The Preserve at Oregon is Ashland, MA. Felipe Sanchez, a young new designer, did a great job working with me, Mike Kane, a builder of 36 years. I am hard to please, but Felipe was up to the task. Thank you Felipe and Glenn.

Glenn and his staff did a tremendous job on the architectural plans for my new addition. He is very professional and thorough and I highly recommend using his services. If you are planning a new addition on your home I would definitely call GMT Home Designs.
