This project consisted of spray painting the newly installed hardie board and shingles, along with the garage door, trims, and vinyl siding on the sides and back of the house. Invest in your high-end hardie board for the long haul. Our coating boosts protection & fade durability to keep your siding looking its best. The needs for this project included an expansive outdoor space that provides an unobstructed view of the open space behind the home while also being able to enjoy the sunny Colorado weather. Through an in depth design process the decision to use Tigerwood, a hardwood decking, was established. Tigerwood provides a long lasting decking option that looks beautiful and absorbs wear and tear much better than its softwood and composite counterparts. For the roof it was decided that a timber frame design with cedar tongue and groove would be the best duo for form, function, and aesthetics. This allowed for multiple lights, outlets, and a ceiling fan to be integrated into the design.

The size of this Kitchen was small for the size of the house not mention out of date. By removing the Peninsula and absorbing the Nook eating area the size of the Kitchen was almost doubled. We were also able to add an Island for increased function. You can see the changes in the Before and After Floor Plans below.

Challenges: My clients love white, silver colors and Metal. While silver and white can be great colors, they are not exactly a plus when we are looking for harmony in relationships. White is metal and metal cuts. Metal also nourishes Water. Water is also a great element, but NOT when there are emotional issues. My contribution: Adding Wood (with plants, furniture, etc.) was paramount to "absorb" all the surplus of Water in the house and dry out some of the emotional turmoil. Adding peaceful symbolism and objects in pair (in the love corner), adding the Fire element (through lighting and red and orange objects) as well as simple tricks such as laying books flat (the cutting energy of books when they stand straight can be a source of conflict) contributed to appeasing the energy of the dining room.

The highly functional design absorbed everything that used to be in that area of the house, but now those things are out of the way. “In the past, we were all spread out when we gathered for the holidays, because we had to spread out. Now, we’re all in here together, including my 92-year old mother. We’re visiting, cooking, laughing… everyone is here. And I’m really learning how to use these appliances. The original master bath suite in this rustic lake house possessed high ceilings with multiple rooms and all surfaces covered in Knotty Pine. Although there were multiple windows in this space, the wood walls, floor and ceiling tended to absorb natural light and force the illumination to come from incandescent Amber fixtures. Our approach was to start with a blank slate by removing all existing partitions and doors. A metal and milk glass wall with a functioning transom and integrated door, was designed and fabricated to divide the space and provide privacy, while allowing light to transfer from the shower, water-closet, bath and dressing room. The welded steel frames his and hers vanities have inlaid white glass panels with integrated steel framed mirrors above.
