This is the side that faces the pasture. The tower acts as a pivot point for the two facades that are at 90 degree angles to one another. It led to the unique character of the plan and elevations.

A bright, calming well organized home in a New Orleans condominium. This was the 3rd home I have done for this client and she wanted a more feminine but modern approach to her future permanent home. The goal was to have an open space with a modern approach to French country. A really cool detail is that the customer wanted an integrated hood above the oven. So we made that cabinet above the oven to accept a specific appliance hood. Then we custom made the arched piece below the cabinet out of a solid piece of oak so that the hood would be concealed.

This front entry was originally designed to accept a pair of centered doors with side lights. We chose to approach the entire opening as a single composition creating vertical slabs of walnut separated by ribbons of clear glass, emulating a view through a forest of trees. In order to achieve the illusion of floor to ceiling uninterrupted elements, a complex polished stainless steel framework was engineered and machined to provide the perimeter structure. The polished stainless steel framework incorporates a concealed in floor, self closing hinge for the large center pivot door. This installation incorporated a variety of materials combining engineered walnut panels, insulated glass, machined polished stainless steel and stone surround coordination. Approaching the entrance you are greeted with a multifaceted composition enticing you to enter and experience the rest of this Young & Young architectural masterpiece located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan completed in September of 2016.

The sink base features two full extension rollouts that handle trash and recyclables in the front and have divided storage for cleaning supplies in the back. No more getting on your hands and knees to access this cabinet. Idea found in Fine Homebuilding magazine. Small tilt drawer holds sponges. The raised panel, French blue cabinets are finished with a dark brown glazing. These are full overlay doors and drawers, constructed with high precision to maintain a 1/8” gap between every side of a door and drawer. PHOTO CREDIT: John Ray
