Our remodel journey began in January of 2012, when we contacted, Paul Fread at Classic Homeworks, to discuss relocating the stairs, from the kitchen area, to the center of the house as well doing a complete remodel of the basement. In the design phase, we added to the project; an upstairs powder room, and a walk in master closet, in addition we opened up the kitchen, and reworked a second bedroom.

Paul and Brynn, a talented design team, designed our 1100 square foot, basement to include two bedrooms with egress windows, one full bath with pocket doors, a powder room, a family room, a storage room, a wine cellar, and a laundry area. The basement was completely gutted, including the removal of the old concrete floor and a few inches of dirt, to gain ceiling height. Brynn and Paul presented us with several amazing design layout options to meet our goals, budget and lifestyle. Within a few months our design and layout were complete. Once construction began Brynn and Rachel took us on buying trips to select tile, bathroom fixtures, cabinets, paint colors, and flooring. They saw our project through to completion, providing design support when needed.
Construction began in June of 2012, lasting approximately seven months. Our project could have been completed in less time however; we requested the upstairs be completed ahead of the basement, as we were hosting a pre-wedding dinner, in our home, at the end of August. With Christian as our project supervisor he worked a scheduling miracle and in three short months, our main level was party ready! Regarding Christian, he is simply a pleasure to work with, besides being a nice person, he is hard working, excellent at communicating, and scheduling and continually delivers exceptional customer service. He pays attention to detail and expects excellent results from all subcontractors.
In addition to being a talented designer, Paul manages all of the financial, and contractual aspects of the project, his management of our project, provided us with the ability to sleep well at night.
Overall, we truly appreciated Classic Homeworks professionalism, ability to listen, attention paid to details, communication, customer service, willingness to work within our budget and timeframe.
The use of a contract, payment schedule, written change orders, and construction timeline provided security and trust. All of the members at Classic Homeworks were easy to reach and responded quickly to questions. When we made changes, we were fully aware of our options and what the associated costs would be prior to the work beginning, also changes were done in writing via a change order. We were given a timeline graph, which we hung on the wall, so we were able to follow the anticipated construction schedule.
