The living room was updated with the use of white drapery sheers and metal 1/2" blinds. The metal was tied into the space by the new coffee table, end table and metal framed art. The traditional end chair in the plaid fabric was an original piece. The chair needed help blending into the space. To accomplish this, the paisley pillows were added to the new sofa. In addition, the storage basket and rug adds a traditional-style flare to the room so the chair doesn't feel like the only traditional piece in the room. It's also worth mentioning that the paisley fabric in the pillows have a curvature to them which is why the wave printed draperies were used. An original turn-of-the-century Craftsman home had lost it original charm in the kitchen and bathroom, both renovated in the 1980s. The clients desired to restore the original look, while still giving the spaces an updated feel. Both rooms were gutted and new materials, fittings and appliances were installed, creating a strong reference to the history of the home, while still moving the house into the 21st century.
