2 Bedrooms / 2,200 Square Feet This pied-à-terre loft with soaring fourteen foot ceilings, sits within a classic cast iron building in the heart of Noho, NYC. It is home to a couple who are serious about their art. DHD worked on this project from the onset of design and construction, allowing for a clear harmony between the architecture and design. The wide plank grey oak floors and white gallery walls set the palette for an art filled environment. A custom designed silk rug fills the main space, while the large-scale Lindsey Adelman light installation hangs above. The furniture, a mix of vintage and classic contemporary, were carefully curated to create a home that is elegant and subtle yet eclectic. The use of cowhide, mohair, woven leather and velvet create subtle textures against the painted brick and wood planked walls. Garden ponds should hold the viewer with three qualities; they need to be soothing, striking and seemingly ever-present in the way they fit into the beholder's imagination, meaning they need to fit seamlessly, not thrust into a foreign setting. Our philosophy is if it does not fit into a travel brochure or a scenic calendar, it does not fit in your landscape. The vast majority of water features are either a pile of rock and mulch, or they are grass to the edge of the water. Neither of those treatments lend to a natural soothing look. Our waters are deep in sense of place. That place is often from a favorite memory. This particular garden pond is from an image of a mountain meadow, complete with native wildflowers enhanced by our designs which allow us to bring mountain wildflowers down to more populated elevations. Named “Starry Night Ranch” by the homeowners, this 3 level, 4 bedroom custom home boasts of over 9,000 square feet of combined living, garage and outdoor spaces. Well versed in the custom home building process, the homeowners spent many hours partnering with both Shan Stassens of Winsome Construction and Buck Bailey Design to add in countless unique features, including a cross hatched cable rail system, a second story window that perfectly frames a view of Mt. Hood and an entryway cut-out to keep a specialty piece of furniture tucked out of the way. From whitewashed shiplap wall coverings to reclaimed wood sliding barn doors to mosaic tile and honed granite, this farmhouse-inspired space achieves a timeless appeal with both classic comfort and modern flair.

Inspiration for a mid-century modern home design remodel in Phoenix

camilleriparismode projects and design team were approached to rethink a previously unused double height room in a wonderful villa. the lower part of the room was planned as a sitting and dining area, the sub level above as a tv den and games room. as the occupants enjoy their time together as a family, as well as their shared love of books, a floor-to-ceiling library was an ideal way of using and linking the large volume. the large library covers one wall of the room spilling into the den area above. it is given a sense of movement by the differing sizes of the verticals and shelves, broken up by randomly placed closed cupboards. the floating marble fireplace at the base of the library unit helps achieve a feeling of lightness despite it being a complex structure, while offering a cosy atmosphere to the family area below. the split-level den is reached via a solid oak staircase, below which is a custom made wine room. the staircase is concealed from the dining area by a high wall, painted in a bold colour on which a collection of paintings is displayed. photos by: brian grech
