Example of a mid-sized trendy enclosed living room design in San Francisco with gray walls and a wall-mounted tv

The main objective for this project was to create a beautiful outdoor cooking and entertaining space. The clients wanted the new space to have an open concept while being protected from the elements year round. Stylistically they wanted the design to have a Pacific Northwest feel, to blend with the existing house and work well among their natural, forested backyard. We needed to include a BBQ, smoker, sink, refrigerator, gas fireplace and wall mounted heater as well as a large screen TV. The details were going to be a main focus for the design process, as we knew this would ensure the cohesive blend of function and aesthetic appeal.
One of the main challenges was working with the existing deck. The 1000 SF deck needed new decking and guardrails as well as some framing repair. We were worried that the existing deck structure would not support the weight of the new construction.
Another challenge we faced was designing the roof planes to aesthetically blend with the existing house. The layout of the first and second floor had us working through multiple design revisions until we landed on the final stepped roof structure.
We designed the new roof to be supported by the house and columns set directly on the ground, thereby minimizing weight added to the existing deck. This allowed us to use the deck to support the lighter components, including the kitchen and BBQ area.
Oversized beams, exposed raw wood rafters, and sealed car decking worked well with the new cedar deck surface. Stainless steel cabinetry and appliances are accented by solid surface countertops and small mosaic backsplash. All colors were selected to fall within the natural hues of the seasonally changing foliage surrounding the clients’ property.
Maintaining the same footprint of the existing deck, we used the angles to our advantage and created additional seating with a custom built storage bench. New powder coated posts and cable guardrails were topped with an LED lined wood handrail. A decorative chandelier and subtle metal pendants provide ambient light. An electric heater mounted to the inside of one of the beams as well as the gas fireplace provides ample heat for colder months.
The clerestory windows between the two roof planes provide additional light to the space while protecting against the elements. The gas fireplace and cultured stone wrapped chimney is a visual anchor and centerpiece for the deck. The chimney provided an opportunity to hide one of the supporting columns as well as a protected space for the wall mounted TV and soundbar.
The cabinetry layout was selected to offer plenty of storage and special features including a pull out garbage and recycling center, drawers for dishes and utensils, and a concealed paper towel holder.

For the entry way we started off by doing some prep work. Next we added a semi gloss finish to the baseboard and door trim followed by a rich vibrant bold red satin finish. A satin finish is great for high traffic areas as they are easier to clean than your standard flat finish.
In this bedroom we started by removing the strip of wall paper running along the center of the wall and repairing the drywall damage above and surrounding the radiator. after doing additional prep work we added two coats of ceiling paint to the walls as well as a semi gloss finish to the baseboard trim, door trim and the door itself. Next we primed the wall and added two coats of a neutral matte flat finish to the walls.
This bedroom had plain dirty off white walls with matching trim and a faded ceiling color. After doing some prep work we gave the trim along the floor, ceiling and windowsill a nice clean white semi gloss finished and the walls and ceiling a smooth neutral color flat finish.
After doing some prep work we applied a fresh coat of ceiling paint to the ceiling followed by two coats of matte flat paint.
For the upstairs office we started off by removing all the wall paper and performing some prep work. Next we added new ceiling paint and a semi gloss finish along the baseboards, window trim and door trim as well as the door itself. We followed this up by giving the room a simple neutral flat finish.

This charming dining area was created with built-ins providing a storage bench for seating and cabinets flanking either side for display and storage purposes. The large plate rack brings a unique design to this charming area. The table can be turned and expanded for additional seating. Opposite the area shown is a coffee station, complete with wine storage, additional glass cabinets and storage below.

These delightful homeowners came to us desirous of a kitchen with improved function, an open floor-plan and modernized look. Their dated kitchen was galley-style with a peninsula and was not conducive to cooking or entertaining. We began by removing a load bearing wall from the galley-style kitchen to create an open-concept kitchen that seamlessly connected the dining room, allowing for the use of an island providing more functional space. We relocated a window permitting the addition of more cabinets for storage and improved function. The custom white painted perimeter cabinets and stained maple island makes this kitchen classy and timeless. In addition to the kitchen transformation, we also refreshed their powder bath creating more space with a smaller wall-mount sink and toilet. We finished the update with new wallpaper and a light fixture. The result is a stunning kitchen, dining room and powder bath our homeowners can entertain and enjoy for years to come.

A remodeled master bathroom that now complements our clients' lifestyle. The main goal was to make the space more functional while also giving it a refreshing and updated look.
Our first action was to replace the vanity. We installed a brand new storage-centric vanity that stayed within the size of the previous one, wasting no additional space.
Additional features included custom mirrors perfectly fitted to their new vanity, elegant new sconce lighting, and a new mosaic tiled shower niche.

We had so much fun with this project! The client wanted a bedroom refresh as they had not done much to it since they had moved in 5 years ago. As a space you are in every single night (and day!), your bedroom should be a place where you can relax and enjoy every minute. We worked with the clients favorite color (navy!) to create a beautiful blue grasscloth textured wall behind their bed to really make their furniture pop and add some dimension to the room. New lamps in their favorite finish (gold!) were added to create additional lighting moments when the shades go down. Adding beautiful sheer window treatments allowed the clients to keep some softness in the room even when the blackout shades were down. Fresh bedding and some new accessories were added to complete the room.

We began this project by having the client meet with our kitchen designer and coming up with the best use of their galley/wall style kitchen and bathroom. We ended on a layout that relocated some of the appliances and installed a new kitchen island and vanity for the bathroom.
