When someone suggests to you that planting Bamboo will be pretty or will make a nice "natural" barrier or fence for your property, you kindly tell them no. Or you tell them yes and then give us a call in 10-12 years. We just finished reclaiming the backyard for a customer who bought a house that came with Bamboo already well established. It was planted who knows how many years ago and the results were pretty crazy. After a week of work with a combination of Bobcat, chipper, chainsaw, sawzall, sweat, blood and probably a few tears (or maybe that was just more sweat) we have finally reclaimed the backyard... for now. It will take regular mowings and some additional treatments to keep the stuff from coming back.

Find the right local pro for your project

This outdoor space featured impressive architectural bones, anchored by a fireplace that naturally demanded attention as the primary focal point. However, the area lacked the essential furnishings, warmth, and cohesion required to function as a truly comfortable gathering spot. Our design goal was to create a functional seating arrangement for six while establishing a welcoming, inviting atmosphere through layered textures and intentional accessories.
A unique aspect of this project was the client’s firm preference for metal outdoor furniture, which they preferred to source locally. We embraced this as a collaborative opportunity; I provided expert guidance on furniture selection and precise sizing to ensure the layout flowed exactly as envisioned, blending their choices seamlessly into the design.
To ground the seating arrangement and soften the surrounding hard surfaces, we selected an outdoor rug in warm brown and gold tones. This addition introduced immediate visual warmth and clearly defined the conversation area. Finally, we incorporated accent pillows in soft cream and rich indigo blue to provide a sophisticated contrast that intentionally echoes the home's surroundings.
We are delighted to announce that this outdoor retreat was honored with 2nd Place in the People's Choice Awards for Outdoor Spaces.
At Clark Team Designs, we believe in "Real-Life Luxury", creating homes that work as beautifully as they look. By managing the details with our signature methodical process, we ensured this transformation was an effortless and enjoyable experience for our clients.

This re-design took a dated split level and transformed it into an attractive and functional home to meet the needs of a growing family.
Additional square footage was added to incorporate a larger master suite and a second garage.
The front entry became a bright and open space, with an open to below music room above it. The master suite took advantage of the large trees in this established neighbourhood giving it a feeling of being in a secluded treehouse.

"We installed this floor last fall as part of a remodel of most of our house, including this dance studio. Now that the remodel is done and the room is cleaned up, I can say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this floor! So many awesome things to say about it:
1) Installation was so easy it's crazy. Once the underlayment was down, we just set a few pieces in place at one time and then walked around and snapped them into place. It was even a little fun. We did sometimes have to give it a sharp thwack but, even so, installation was simple. The hardest part was bending over repeatedly to lay new ones but there's no avoiding that.
2) The floor is warm on our tootsies in a room that we keep cold.
3) Barefoot, socks, or sneakers, we have no problems at all. The floor isn't too sticky or too slippery. Side note: it is absolutely in place; no movement at all.
4) Because of the underlayment and the sprung quality of the floor, it's really comfortable to dance on. We use the studio for Zumba, in addition to belly dance, and high-impact moves don't hurt us at all.
5) And ... it looks awesome! This floor is beautiful and I'm so proud of it! Wish we had done it years ago!" - Robin

Perched on a ridge at the edge of a wooded expanse, this mid-century modern home was designed to embrace both the intimate connection to the forest and the expansive valley views beyond. The site—carefully chosen from the family’s 52-acre homestead in western Wisconsin—balances privacy and openness, placing the home at the meeting point of dense trees and rolling fields.
The approach winds through the forest, offering only glimpses of the structure. Upon arrival, the parking area is subtly positioned below the main level, reinforcing the sense of discovery. As one ascends the entry walk, the house unfolds, revealing a dramatic view through the two-story living space, anchored by a brick fireplace that extends from floor to ceiling. The asymmetrical roofline lifts upward, accentuating the openness and maximizing natural light.
Inside, warm materials define the interiors. Wood ceilings and floors, complemented by concrete-look tile, establish a natural, grounded aesthetic. Black wood-clad beams provide scale and structure, subtly delineating spaces within the open-plan layout. A wood lattice screen partially conceals the dining area from the foyer, offering both openness and privacy. The kitchen—designed for gathering—features a large island, a dedicated baking station, and a breakfast counter that catches morning light while serving as a pass-through to the adjacent patio. Two textured glass sliding panels allow the kitchen to be closed off when needed. Just beyond, a hidden gem: the home’s personal Tiki room, complete with a vintage mug collection and a full bar.
To the east, the central fireplace marks the transition to more intimate spaces. A wide stair, integrated with the hearth, leads to the lower level, while a library with a corner window creates a quiet retreat, perfect for reading and taking in the valley beyond. The primary suite extends off this wing, featuring a spa-like bath with a textured tile walk-in shower, a soaking tub positioned for dramatic views, and a private balcony overlooking the landscape.
The lower level is designed for family gatherings and extended stays. A secondary fireplace, echoing the materials of the main level, anchors a cozy living area with an adjacent kitchenette. Additional bedrooms and baths provide ample accommodations, while a hidden playhouse under the stair and a dedicated bunk room add playful touches for visiting grandchildren.
The home is a balance of openness and enclosure, modernity and warmth—designed not only as a retreat but as a multigenerational gathering place, deeply connected to the land.

Kitchens with fabulous water views require a design that is central to the view. In this case, Bilotta designer, Randy O’Kane, working with Rachel Laxer of Rachel Laxer Interiors, Robert Keller of Keller Eaton Architects, and the homeowner, quickly established that the focal point would be the outside, thus there are really no wall cabinets. The cooktop and main sink are situated on the island so that they face the water with wall ovens and refrigerator/freezer behind. The lines of the Bilotta Collection cabinetry are sleek and there is little to no hardware; drawers have a channel system in place of hardware. A tall pantry area hugs the wall and disappears with only glass pulls giving it away. The natural quartzite countertops have the undulating feel of moving water. The bar area is tucked away with the same clean lined cabinetry, but with an added touch of antique mercury mirrors to help reflect the lovely views. Soft seating by way of a custom banquette and sectional makes this kitchen not just a place to eat, but a relaxing area to watch the boats go by. Contemporary painted casing trims an extra-large pocket door into a formal dining room beautifully detailed by Rachel Laxer and continues the soft color scheme with added pops of color. This is definitely a great space to entertain in or just enjoy! Additional people involved include Staci Ruiz of Staci Ruiz Lighting Consultant and Bobby Noonan of Noonan Construction. Appliances are a mix of Miele, Sub-Zero and Gaggenau; sinks are Franke and faucets by Dornbracht. A custom water feature is the majestic focal point in this sophisticated setting.
Our clients had custom landscaping installed many years ago, and wanted to add to it without losing the original design intentions. D. A. Dunlevy was asked to design and install a water feature that made a big statement, as well as a new front walkway. The new fountain adds to the existing beauty of this landscape, and provides a strong focal point among the many plantings on this established property. The homeowner is thrilled with this addition, and we continue to provide the maintenance and enhancements that will allow for this landscape to evolve and grow over the years.

This kitchen renovation transformed the existing space with a dramatic new material palette while working largely within the home's established footprint.
Dark charcoal shaker-style cabinetry replaced the previous kitchen storage, creating a sophisticated contrast against bright white quartz countertops with expressive gray veining. The new cabinetry extends vertically with stacked upper cabinets and glass-front accents, maximizing storage while giving the kitchen a more substantial, built-in appearance.
A glossy gray subway tile backsplash adds dimension and subtle reflection along the main cooking and prep areas, complementing the stainless steel appliances and brushed metal cabinet hardware. The cooktop wall was redesigned around a streamlined stainless steel range hood, while a tall appliance cabinet integrates the double ovens into the surrounding cabinetry for a cleaner, more cohesive look.
Generous quartz work surfaces continue through the kitchen, including the island and sink area, providing additional prep space and reinforcing the high-contrast palette. The dark cabinetry is balanced by light flooring, soft neutral walls, and white countertops, keeping the room bright despite the deeper cabinet finish.
The result is a modern transitional kitchen that feels more refined, organized, and intentional while preserving the functionality of the existing layout.
Design features: dark shaker cabinetry, semi-custom kitchen cabinets, stacked upper cabinets, glass-front cabinets, white quartz countertops, gray-veined quartz, glossy subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, double wall ovens, built-in microwave, stainless steel range hood, brushed metal hardware, kitchen island, undermount sink, and large-format tile flooring.
