This 3,738 Square Foot custom home resides on a lush, wooded hillside overlooking Arbutus Lake. The clients wanted to thoughtfully combine a “lodge” and “cottage” feel to their space. The home’s style has been affectionately and effectively called “Cott-odge” A beautiful blend of neutrals compose the home’s color palette to reflect the surrounding setting’s stone, sands, woods and water. White casework and rustic knotty beams round out the careful blend of “cott-odge” style. The great room’s multi-colored ledge stone fireplace and large beams create a cozy space to gather with family, while the efficient kitchen adorned with custom cabinetry accommodates optimal work-flow. The pairing of the varied styles creates an inviting lakeside, family retreat.

As part of an interior remoderning (yep, a made up word for modern remodel) this section of the living room is home to the TV, some serious AV and inspired furnishings. Each element boldly stays in its own lane while simultaneously merging with to tell the story. Affectionately referred to as The Records Cabinet, a custom crafted barmoire (yep, better describes the cabinet) is a masterpiece. The circle motif like full silver moons - or platinum records - counterbalance the angles of the room and of the furniture. Without coincidence there are silver full moons in the most sentimental artwork in this family home.

This gorgeous Carmel Valley kitchen and master bathroom remodel is a great example of how strategic spatial planning can truly transform a space. Affectionately referred to as “Mary Kay’s Kitchen” by the client, the addition of the large, functional island created the perfect focal point for the room and spot to entertain family and friends. By reconfiguring the appliance layout, we were able to achieve one of the client’s most important goals - more storage. A large walk-in pantry was created where previously, only a small cabinet existed.
While the overall design is classic, vibrant pops of color pair perfectly with the white cabinetry, white marbled quartz countertops, and rich wood flooring. State of the art appliances by Sub-Zero and Wolf were also selected, making this avid home chef’s dream a reality.
Upstairs, the master bath went from dated and drab to stunning and serene featuring His and Hers vanities, a double-sized walk-in shower with beautiful tile work, custom bench seating and dual shower heads, along with gorgeous flooring, and a luxurious soaking tub.

Large sliding glass doors open to a private porch and beautifully landscaped backyard, strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor living. The resident affectionately refers to it as her “cozy cottage.”

Affectionately known as the "hell strip," the narrow area adjacent to the driveway becomes an absolute inferno with reflected heat when summer temperatures approach 100 degrees and above. Penstemon, angelita daisy and chocolate flower (not shown) look pretty in spring but can take the heat. A little leaf ash, Fraxinus greggii, saved in the renovation, anchors the planting. Affectionately nicknamed "The Beast," this 7,000 square foot log home located on the shores of Lake Michigan is a sight to behold. We worked on this estate with Northern Expedition Log Homes, LLC and Expedition Log Homes in Sheboygan, WI and can't be more pleased with the final, jaw-dropping results. This home was crafted with 8' cedar logs and we at DW3 Construction were in charge of framing as well as soffits and siding. Let's just say, it turned out better than we ever imagined. Take a look inside and let us know what you think...

The Space
THE AIRSTREAM INTERNATIONAL CCD 25'ss
is a Christopher Deem Limited Edition.
Set in the beautiful mountain range 'Sierra de las Nieves' in Southern Spain - this is an outdoor adventure you're not likely to forget!!
Offering all the comforts of home with the luxury of a 5 star hotelroom - the airstream is an oasis of luxury in the middle of Nature. Modelled on the original 1930's classic, she's the perfect combination of retro nostalgia and contemporary design. The interior is sleek and stylish, and is equipped with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your glamping experience to the full. Facilities include: fully fitted kitchen with oven/hob/microwave/fridge-freezer; shower room with wc & washbasin; bedroom with cosy double bed; dining area; living area with comfy sofas and flat-screen TV/DVD; i-pod/i-phone docking station, CD player with surround-sound stereo; Wi-Fi internet access; and air con and heating. But perhaps the 'cherry on the cake' is the outdoor plunge pool - the ultimate in glamorous camping!! Laying in the pool or next to it on a warm summer's night as you gaze at the stars is a memory which is sure to remain..
The airstream is perfectly suited both for singles and couples - and provides the ideal setting for romantic or solitary retreat. The surrounding scenery is stunning, and there are plenty of nature trails and treks to be explored. Owner Trevor lives close by, and is always happy to lend a hand with trip planning and advice etc.
A 20 minute walk down the mountain track will lead to the nearby village of 'Alozaina' - a typically Spanish 'pueblo blanco' which has retained much of its rustic charm. Life is slow here, and not to be rushed! There are several tapas bars, cafes, and a couple of decent restaurants, as well shops and even a small supermarket.
Further afield, there is much to explore. Nearby excursions include the historical town of Ronda - and the oldest bullring in Spain, the elegant city of Malaga, Seville, Marbella & jet-setting Puerto Banus, and the picturesque 'pueblo blanco' of Ojen. Car hire is essential in order to fully enjoy the area.
If you have any questions about the glamping experience, or the airstream itself - please ask. I have a good knowledge of the local area, and a deep love for the mountain - affectionately known to the locals as 'magic mountain'! You'll understand why when you visit - there is indeed something special and perhaps even magical about this place, just waiting to be discovered...
I look forward to hearing from you!

Removal of a fireplace allowed for more space - as did the conversion of the old bulky cast iron rads with more contemporary European style slant-fin rads.
