Working with Lars was a great experience. We interviewed three of the top firms in San Diego but we were the most comfortable with the people and the process of Lars. We lived in our home for 5 years and love our neighborhood and neighbors, but our home lacked function and curb appeal. We literally had a front porch without a front entryway! I also work fully remotely and did not have an office. So we embarked on the journey to design an addition to our home and redesign the entire front of the house, which included a kitchen remodel as well. The customer service with Lars is fantastic. Jennifer was our project consultant. She is the main reason we went with Lars over the other two firms. She is the perfect balance of direct and warm, approachable and realistic. She genuinely wants what is best for your home and your family. She guided us through all of the steps so that we knew exactly what was to be expected and approximate realistic timelines for each step. The initial design took a little longer than I had hoped but I took comfort in knowing Lars is exercising due diligence versus slapping some design plans together and seeing what sticks. Wendy guided us along with design selections. She was easy breezy and helpful in giving us great options to consider with the few decisions I was not 100% on. She's also a friendly, sweet person! Our project manager was Troy. He is amazing! He pushed the construction through faster than we had anticipated. He handled all project issues with efficiency and professionalism. I would not have wanted anyone else to oversee our remodel. He made us feel very confident in the quality of work and kept us well informed since we were not living in the home for the majority of the project. He did an exemplary job managing the trades. We're very close with our neighbors and would check in with them often to ensure they were not disturbed in the process. They had only wonderful things to say about Troy and the trades. When we moved in just before Christmas, thanks to Troy's diligence, it was as smooth a process as can be expected. Troy went out of his way to ensure every last detail was perfect. The entire team at Lars makes us smile! We knew we could save money by selecting another firm or even going with an architect and a general contractor. The entire experience was beyond worth the investment. It is our forever home for our children and we are so grateful for the process and the final product. It was well worth the time and money. You cannot put a price on good people, particularly those that can make a typically very stressful experience (any home project) feel like an exciting adventure! We love Lars and would recommend them to anyone thinking of making their home more beautiful and functional.

Would NOT recommend Lar’s. Think twice... very problematic. Examples: there were times when no one would show. One weekend a large hole was left exposed to outside ( critters) could just come on in. All of work is bye “ subs” who do not always have synchronization. At the ( finally) finish, we had a flaw in mirror.. took months. When worker came to fix, he showed without new mirror.

Working with Lars was a dream come true!! We've lived in our house for 20 years and after having 2 growing boys our house, specifically the upstairs area, was not meeting our needs. We were literally in a "Love it or List it" moment. But we love our neighborhood, love our neighbors and the school our boys attend. So we went the tough route of doing a remodel. In the end we have an expanded master suite that is SWEET!! I could not have dreamed of a more fabulous master bath and my own dreamy dressing room!! My husband got his own closet and we both gained the privacy and personal space we desperately needed. The customer service with Lars is unparalleled! Ken was our project consultant with a fabulous eye for design and functionality. He guided us effortlessly through all the steps so that we knew exactly what was to be expected along the way. Jessica helped us pick out all our materials and colors and we had a blast shopping for our new space. Once the construction phase started we were paired with Bobby as our project manager. He was amazing! As with any construction project issues came up and he handled them quickly and efficiently. We were in the best of hands with Bobby! We never had to worry about any issues with any of the trades. Bobby handled them all. He was probably working on at least 4 other projects at the same time as ours but we always felt like we were his number one priority! That's the feeling you get when you work with Lars. They are all such a pleasure to work with. When you're changing your living space so dramatically and spending a pretty penny to do it you really want to do it with a company you can trust and rely on. That's exactly what we got and we are beyond thrilled with our new space!!

My wife and I are currently working with Lars on a large-scale, whole-home remodel and cannot say enough wonderful things about the team. We initially started the process with another contractor, but were left feeling dejected after a less-than impressive experience. Heeding the recommendations of friends, we attended a Lars remodeling workshop and were immensely impressed by their presentation. Our project manager, Ken, has been exemplary in every way. He has been a true pleasure to work with, and continues to impress us with his responsive communication style, and innovative design ideas. We knew that we were in good hands when the design team of Jessica & Samantha, architect Debbie, and contractor Owen made numerous site-visits to ensure every detail of the remodel would be attended to perfectly. Show-room manager Matt has also been so kind and helpful in selecting appliances - we had no idea what we were doing! Laurie and Bonnie also continue to make us feel welcome at each design meeting. The prospect of a whole-home remodel was incredibly daunting, but Lars has made the process feel entirely manageable by guiding us through every step of the way and ensuring that the project stays on track. We can't imagine working with any other group, and cannot say enough good things about the company. We would recommend to any of our friends or family in a heartbeat. We are so excited to continue working together with Lars as our project moves forward.

I would like to share a customer satisfaction issue that met every expectation…it was perfect. We had Lars provide an extensive remodel circa 2010. We have been very happy with the end product since. Earlier this week, our water heater failed. While troubleshooting with assistance from the heater manufacturer tech support, it came to light that a modification to the venting method done as part of the remodel to vent horizontally out the side of the house with an external exhaust fan is not safe and could no be supported. Hearing that we have been in an unsafe environment as a result of recommendation by the Lars team to address the structural constraints for the venting, I became extremely angry and contacted Lars’ office. Matt, the Lars office manager took my initial and subsequent calls. Matt flawlessly handled the situation being calm and respectful and offering detailed advice on his actions going forward and fulfilled and beyond every commitment. Project manager Owen engaged straightaway along with Lars’ plumbing contractor Gustavo of Calplumb. Additionally, Jason Larson returned my call per my demand. Jason assured me that the situation would be addressed without any pushback. After these reactions by the Lars team, I felt totally comfortable that we were in good hands. As requested, Owen and Gustavo along with his assistant Omar rang my doorbell right at 8:00AM the next morning. After scoping the issue and reviewing options, Owen offered the best solution to replace the water heater with a modern model designed specifically for this application that included a new vent line. Gustavo and Omar proceeded to procure the heater and materials for the installation straightaway. Before the end of the day, we were back up and running with hot water. The installation is beautiful. This situation could not have been handled any better by all involved. The ownership and reaction by Lars was perfect. This reaffirms our decision to select Lars originally. We were told at the time that the warranty is basically forever. I can say without hesitation that this is the case. BRAVO!

We truly enjoyed our experience working with Jennifer Cavanaugh with LARS. She is extremely attentive to detail, she listened to every item we discussed from the very beginning and brought creative solutions to our project every step of the way. The first presentation we reviewed was literally our dream house! I would recommend working with her to anyone. Professional, kind, fun to work with, and incredibly creative in her approach to project solutions.

After interviewing multiple design and build firms in the San Diego area, we decided to use Lars Remodeling and Design to build our new master bedroom suite. They also renovated an existing bathroom, brought our garage up to code, and included some other improvements around the house such new lighting and a new front porch. We selected Lars because they offered the most personal and professional touch during our interview process. We were very impressed with the enthusiasm, attention to detail, and patience that Vice President Brandon Spann brought to designing our new space. Walking into our new master is a seamless transition that feels like the room has been part of the house since it was originally built. Being in the new room feels like staying in a resort suite and has exceeded all of our expectations for the space. We did have some issues with some of the work that was done. Our Project Manager, Duane, did a great job of addressing the items and ensuring things were redone until they were correct. It was during this time that I was told something by a friend that really stuck with me for the rest of the project. “When dealing with construction, problems are always going to happen. What matters is how you fix them.” I can confidently say that Lars was willing to do the right thing and make sure the project was completed to our satisfaction.

We couldn't be happier with Lars Remodeling and Design. We bought an 80+ year-old Spanish revival home that was in need of extensive renovations. We started with a local architect and were soon disappointed as the project stalled and expenses soared. Lars stepped in with kindness and compassion and quickly helped us to regroup. The office staff is kind and courteous. Any concern you have will be promptly addressed and taken care of to your satisfaction. Your voice is always heard and your preferences are the number one priority. Yvette Travers, the designer is amazingly talented and so much fun to work with. Mike Hebert was our Project Design Consultant and is a pleasure to know. He led us through every step with confidence and expertise. Jeff Brown was our project manager who is exceptionally knowledgeable and was attentive and communicative throughout the entire process. Matt Regole is an ace at helping to choose your appliances and plumbing fixtures without breaking the bank. From the big picture to the small details, Lars has it covered. You will not be disappointed. Our old house presented many challenges and is now safe, aesthetically beautiful and functional. The final product is spectacular. I would go with Lars again in a heartbeat.

Whole house remodel - kitchen, 3 baths, family, living & dining, load bearing wall removal between kitchen & dining, new windows, re-stucco. Had some more rework than expected, but Lars is fully committed to doing things to the customers' satisfaction. Very happy with the end result.

We recently completely our home renovation project with LARS. Remodeling a home can be as very stressful experience (and it was). However, you can get through it when you feel like you've got a partner. Particularly if that partner has decades of experience and has people that love what they do. That's LARS. Jason and his team showed patience, passion and excitement. It took us over 6 months to lock down initial scope and they were there at every step. We really wanted to design the home of our dreams, take the image in our minds and make it a reality. They delivered. From consult, to design, to execution, to delivery, LARS is the only way to go. We are living in the home of our dreams and they made that possible. I would highly recommend LARS remodeling and design to anyone looking to find the home of their dreams.

Full house remodel design and build including 3 baths, kitchen, family room, dining room, window replacement, exterior re-stucco. Strong commitment to customer satisfaction. Had more rework than expected which was all fixed to our satisfaction, but it added significantly to schedule (moved back in 7 months after start, but some new countertop replacement led to final completion at 12 months). Very happy with final product.
