This is an open beam design where the rustic lodge poles compliment the attractive underside quality of this structure. Open beam designs are very wind resistant as air passes though the breathable thatch.

Oval structure with over one hundred Africa Thatch Cape Reed Panels stapled on the solid plywood roof. Top cones split in half on each side to disguise the leading edges and a split bamboo half round to hide the ridge seam.

This 11' diameter metal framed Africa Thatch Umbrella kit is weather resistance because of the structural quality of the material and the breathable characteristics of the thatch roofing panels.

Africa Roof Thatch Panels fashioned on this solid roof cover a residential outdoor kitchen. Waterproof qualities permit electrical equipment, fans, and electronics to be installed without resulting damage from inclement weather.

Africa Thatch Panels can either be attached to custom wooden framework or metal umbrella kits avaialbe in various daiamters. Clips on the thatch install easily on the metal rings of the kits and then a top cone finishes off the structure.

This was a slightly odd shaped island (hopefully, the owners agree) and raised bar that we built an African mahogany countertop for. The countertop is 1.5" thick and built as an edge grain top (we specify .75" to 2" strips that run the full-length of the countertop, so no butt-joints). This countertop is finished in our food safe mineral oil that allows the owners to cut/chop directly on the surface. This top also features our Roman ogee edge treatment.
One thing to note about this countertop - the homeowner was looking for a deeper red color so we built and finished the countertop and then parked it outside on a sunny day to allow the sun to deepen the color. This sped the patina process that would have happened naturally in a six-month-to-a-year time frame. Typically, freshly machined African mahogany has a more pinkish/salmon hue.
