Tradition meets today in this pared-down classic. The enduring charm of inset cabinetry is combined with double-door wall cabinets, a graceful ogee profile, and recessed panel doors to recall vintage style. The color scheme establishes the light / dark theme: white perimeter cabinets support honed “Jet Mist” granite tops, while the black paneled island features 2” thick marble-like quartz. Antique bin pulls are reinterpreted here with an updated square silhouette and repeat the brass accents on the knobs and island pendant trims. Continuing the nostalgia is the timeless apron-front “farmhouse” sink. Handmade subway tiles yield understated depth to the backsplash. Holding the place of honor over the range is a mosaic of stylized houndstooth echoing the neutral palette. That pattern is playfully reiterated in the pillows on the paneled banquette. Contemporary touches are found in the cheerful red cushion, double tripod table base, and the simple brass-lined dome pendant. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dramatic black wet bar whose Gothic mullion doors reflect the curve of the demilune base cabinet. The focal point is another mosaic backsplash, here with a diamond motif. Mixed metals make a statement with a satin nickel faucet, hammered nickel bar sink, and brass decorative hardware. Keeping all interior furnishing at a low profile so that your eye stays focused on the crystal blue Pacific. Adding natural furs and playful colors to the homes neutral palate kept the space warm and cozy. Plants and trees helped complete the space and allowed “life” to flow inside and out. For the exterior furnishings we chose natural teak and neutral colors, but added pops of orange to contrast against the bright blue skyline. This master bedroom in Malibu, CA is open and light. Wall to wall sliding doors gives the owner a perfect morning. A custom Poliform bed was made in dark chocolate leather paired with custom leather nightstands. The fire place is 2 sided which gives warmth to the bedroom and the bathroom. A low profile bed was requested by the client. Artistic, stone, natural , spa like is the perfect words to describe this master bathroom. The owner wanted to enjoy the view of the ocean so we built in a floor to ceiling glass wall so while they're taking a bath they can see the amazing beach view. This kitchen went through a nice transformation to get rid of the old cabinets that were dark and outdated. Cabinet refacing was the perfect solution for them. They went with a Level Acrylic door in White Gloss. In the upper cabinets we replaced the wooden doors with frame doors with frosted glass. We did this to make the kitchen more spacious and not have such a heavy image when reaching the ceiling with cabinets. We also used low-profile handles that only look like a detail on the door. We next installed a new Quartz countertop done in Unique Calacatta and a backsplash done in a glazed tile that have a mirrored effect on the edges. To finish the new look, we installed LED lights inside the tall cabinets, under the cabinets on the countertop and on the toe kick in the base cabinets.

Our wonderful client and friend was seeking a massive upgrade to a newly purchased home and had hopes of integrating her European inspired aesthetic throughout. At the forefront of consideration was clean-lined simplicity, and this concept is evident in every space in the home. The highlight of the project is the heart of the home: the kitchen. We integrated smooth, sleek, white slab cabinetry to create a functional kitchen with minimal door details and upgraded modernity. The cabinets are topped with concrete-look quartz from Caesarstone; a welcome soft contrast that further emphasizes the contemporary approach we took. The backsplash is a simple and elongated white subway paired against white grout for a modernist grid that virtually melts into the background. Taking the kitchen far outside of its intended footprint, we created a floating island with a waterfall countertop that can house critical cooking fixtures on one side and adequate seating on the other. The island is backed by a dramatic exotic wood countertop that extends into a full wall splash reaching the ceiling. Pops of black and high-gloss finishes in appliances add a touch of drama in an otherwise white field. The entire main level has new hickory floors in a natural finish, allowing the gorgeous variation of the wood to shine. Also included on the main level is a re-face to the living room fireplace, powder room, and upgrades to all walls and lighting. Upstairs, we created two critical retreats: a warm Mediterranean inspired bathroom for the client's mother, and the master bathroom. In the mother's bathroom, we covered the floors and a large accent wall with dramatic travertine tile in a bold Versailles pattern. We paired this highly traditional tile with sleek contemporary floating vanities and dark fixtures for contrast. The shower features a slab quartz base and thin profile glass door. In the master bath, we welcomed drama and explored space planning and material use adventurously. Keeping with the quiet monochromatic palette, we integrated all black and white into our bathroom concept. The floors are covered with large format graphic tiles in a deco pattern that reach through every part of the space. At the vanity area, high gloss white floating vanities offer separate space for his/her use. Tall linear LED fixtures provide ample lighting and illuminate another grid pattern backsplash that runs floor to ceiling. The show-stopping bathtub is a square steel soaker tub that nestles quietly between windows in the bathroom's far corner. We paired this tub with an unapologetic tub filler that is bold and large in scale. Next to the tub, an open shower is adorned with a full expanse of white grid subway tile, a slab quartz shower base, and sleek steel fixtures. This project was exciting and inspiring in its ability to push the boundaries of simplicity and quietude in color. Even if your home's bathroom is small, it doesn't have to look small. This client was looking to make the most of their bathroom space, so they turned to OakWood to work our design & build magic. The first thing that we did was increase the size of the bathroom by pushing the shower into the back bedroom, allowing for a few extra inches of space. The use of a floating vanity was another design choice that we made to save on space. Since floating vanities are raised from the floor, you’ll be able to see light bouncing off the bathroom floor with this option. This sense of openness (and light transmission) helps give the illusion of more space. Another design choice that was made to give the impression of a larger space was the use of a glass shower door. One of the main reasons that homeowners decide on clear glass shower doors is that they want to have an open and modern design. With clear glass, your whole bathroom will look larger, no matter how small the space. To top it off, we added safety measures to the shower, including a grab bar and a low-profile shower base to ensure that this bathroom meets their needs for today – and for the future!

This traditional kitchen has a brown antique leathered granite island countertop and bar top with astoria granite countertop perimeters fabricated and installed by Lesher Natural Stone, Quartz, & Tile. The kitchen design and cabinet installation was created by Ed Lank Kitchens in Lemoyne, PA. The cabinets are the Presidio Door style by Wood-Mode utilizing both recessed and raised doors with several finishes. The wall cabinets have a Vintage Country Linen finish, the base cabinets on the perimeter have harbor mist finish, and the island base cabinets have a brown with black glaze finish. Ran new hot/cold lines and drain line. > Custom built center island shaker-style cabinets. Added pendant lights over island with new switch. Trenched the concrete to run electrical line to island cabinets. > Constructed custom shaker-style cabinet walls and cabinet box over refrigeration. > Reconfigured sink area and cabinets. Custom built new shaker-style lower cabinets at location. > Installed level four Valley White VicoStone quartz countertops in kitchen. Countertops have a standard edge profile, double deep basin stainless steel sink. Installed a new garbage disposal unit. Installed faucet. and connect up plumbing. > Installed ceramic Boutique Dark Grey Subway Tile backsplash with grout. > Removed 22 cabinet doors and 11 drawer fronts. Constructed new cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Doors and drawers are a shaker design. > Sanded the and painted the exterior of cabinets, both sides of doors, and drawer front, with Emerald Polyurethane paint to primed surfaces. > Moved refrigerator with new electrical outlets > Enlarged the opening between kitchen and dining room; installed drywall, taped, floated, and textured area. > Constructed new kitchen island boxes and shaker fronts. This required channeling through foundation to install the electrical for island. Installed a level four countertop with standard edge profile. > Install six recessed LED can lights on kitchen ceiling.
