Our Contemporary Oasis remodel project in Hingham, MA began with a small, outdated full bathroom. Our team saw the potential for a much larger and more functional space. We started by removing the old walls to expand the room size and then built up new walls to create a spacious, modern bathroom. The renovation not only increased the square footage but also allowed for more natural light and better flow. With the additional space, we were able to incorporate a variety of luxurious features such as a walk-in shower, double vanity, and heated floors. The end result is a beautiful, functional bathroom that is a true oasis in the heart of the home

The Rosenberg Condo is located in the Castalia at Meadowmont, a mixed-use building. The existing shell is comprised of pre-determined windows and demising walls, limiting the possibility of natural light in each potential room. Sited on one of the highest elevations in the Triangle, the views to the horizon from the public spaces became paramount. This modern, master plan strategy is grounded by a multifunctional thickened wall. The wall is a filter, container, and threshold as it marks the separation between public and private spaces while reacting to specific conditions of interior environment and natural light. Carving and folding, the wall utilizes depth and translucency to allow filtered light through the thresholds between public and private.

The option of materials for creating a water feature are endless. It can range from a rustic collection of moss covered rocks to smooth river cobble. Sometimes however, you run across a particular boulder and know you have found your inspiration. That's what happened with this triangular shaped black granite rock with a white quartz band at the top. Seeing its' potential as a striking contrast to the buff sandstone patio and retaining walls, our project manager and client, swiftly snagged this impressive boulder. A hole through the center was drilled to allow the water to circulate gently, adding even more depth of color and contrast.

To facilitate the builder's desire to create a successful model home in this large site development with expansive natural preserves, this design creates a sense of presence far greater than its actual size. This was accomplished by a wide yet shallow layout that allows most rooms to look out to rear of home and preserve views beyond. Designed with a West Indies flavor, this thoroughly modern home's layout flows seamlessly from space to space. Having inherited this home from a narrow-minded house flipper, the client really wanted to make these spaces work for them. From the beginning, it was clear to us that this house had great potential. Our solution to realizing it was to build a side entry allowing each existing space to be used for its originally designed purpose. The vestibule stores shoes, backpacks, and coats while the kitchen is used solely for cooking and entertaining. The family room is now a place to spend time, read books, and watch TV. These collective changes resulted in a new light-filled home that inspires creativity and provides added space to entertain guests.

A riverfront property is a desirable piece of property duet to its proximity to a waterway and parklike setting. The value in this renovation to the customer was creating a home that allowed for maximum appreciation of the outside environment and integrating the outside with the inside, and this design achieved this goal completely. To eliminate the fishbowl effect and sight-lines from the street the kitchen was strategically designed with a higher counter top space, wall areas were added and sinks and appliances were intentional placement. Open shelving in the kitchen and wine display area in the dining room was incorporated to display customer's pottery. Seating on two sides of the island maximize river views and conversation potential. Overall kitchen/dining/great room layout designed for parties, etc. - lots of gathering spots for people to hang out without cluttering the work triangle. Eliminating walls in the ensuite provided a larger footprint for the area allowing for the freestanding tub and larger walk-in closet. Hardwoods, wood cabinets and the light grey colour pallet were carried through the entire home to integrate the space.

PlankFlex is a snap together interlocking plank flooring tile. PlankFlex has a raised plastic base that allows for airflow and keeps the vinyl flooring away from potential dampness. Each plank tile measures 4 inches wide and 36 inches long. Tiles are easily assembled by interlocking system. Open Sesame! Unlocking the potential in this space involved removing walls around the original kitchen. Unlike the old kitchen that only had one narrow access point next to the refrigerator, this new open concept is ideal for entertaining allowing guests to easily move around.

The decision to either renovate the upper and lower units of a duplex or convert them into a single-family home was a no-brainer. Situated on a quiet street in Montreal, the home was the childhood residence of the homeowner, where many memories were made and relationships formed within the neighbourhood. The prospect of living elsewhere wasn’t an option. A complete overhaul included the re-configuration of three levels to accommodate the dynamic lifestyle of the empty nesters. The potential to create a luminous volume was evident from the onset. With the home backing onto a park, westerly views were exploited by oversized windows and doors. A massive window in the stairwell allows morning sunlight to filter in and create stunning reflections in the open concept living area below. The staircase is an architectural statement combining two styles of steps, with the extended width of the lower staircase creating a destination to read, while making use of an otherwise awkward space. White oak dominates the entire home to create a cohesive and natural context. Clean lines, minimal furnishings and white walls allow the small space to breathe.
