RenovisionsThe kitchen is where you spend most of your time, shouldn’t it be the most inviting room in the house? That was the logic behind this South Shore of Boston Renovision. The owners entertained frequently but struggled with lack of organized storage space and poor flow for traffic in and out of their kitchen.
Renovisions totally reorganized the way the kitchen worked. The wall between the family room and kitchen was re-built to accommodate bar stools and added countertop space. Considerations were given to the design layout for a separate beverage/wine refrigeration station, while making sure additional prep space was adequate. A better flow in the kitchen was created, eliminating the annoyance of the typical ‘bottle-neck’.
Fine shaker cabinetry in a white painted finish with contrasting dark blue-grey island cabinets which boast large, deep drawers set the stage. A full gamut of appliances was provided including a 36” induction cooktop, convection microwave, double wall ovens, full size refrigerator and a bar refrigerator. The matching paneled dishwasher ensured an integrated look. The custom wood hood along with the unique shaped arabesque glass tile design frames a stunning focal point when entering this kitchen. Glass mullion doors flanking the hood with clear seeded glass created an upscale look and coordinated with the seeded glass shades of the island pendants.
Renovisions custom fit red oak wood flooring to match the existing floor and then re-finished with a grey stain and 3 coats of poly to add durability while also providing a beautiful new look throughout the house.
Good lighting is key especially when spending so much time in a space. LED under-cabinet lights, recessed ceiling lights and three separate pendant fixtures which all operate on dimmer switches created options for mood lighting, work lighting and everything in between. New double-hung windows with 6/1 grid configurations were added in just the right places – adding more essential natural light.
In addition to the kitchen ‘Renovision’, two corner cabinets in a white painted finish were installed in the dining room to not only accommodate the clients fine china and glassware, but also to provide a more custom built-in look to the space with the interior of the cabinets matching the wall.
Overall, our client could not have been happier with the completed project. Family, friends and guests were impressed with the design and fit and finish of every detail provided by Renovisions.

* High- functioning ventilation to clear as much odors as possible
(When we first met with the clients, they stated, “Something very fishy was going on in their outdated kitchen. Although they enjoyed cooking fish dinners, they fishy odors often annoyed them)! Renovisions designed and installed a wood hood in matching light gray painted finish with a hood liner that provided the maximum ventilation, while staying within the proper building code of a 350cfm air exchange, without having to add a make -up air system which would have added to the cost of the project.
*Better functioning ‘Spinner Storage’ for interior storage. The clients loved them in their old kitchen; we furnished and installed new and better-quality spinners storage units.
*A unique opening between the kitchen and family room that allowed homeowners to pass meals through as they enjoyed a movie from the family room.
*A Smart-Divide porcelain enamel sink with stainless steel grids allow plenty of room for dirty dishes, pots and pans as well as separate areas to prep and wash dishes as needed.
* Anti-glare finishes were a must have for these clients; kitchen cabinetry in a matte gray neutral finish, faucet and cabinet hardware in a matte black finish and stunning Cambria quartz countertops in a suede finish set the stage.
At completion phase, homeowners were ensured that they were receiving high-quality products, style and craftmanship in the most efficient time frame and were thrilled with look of their new kitchen that also provided plenty of prep, entertaining and seating space.

Bell+Associates Architecture Inc.Nestled at the end of a private road on a forested riverfront property, our client’s cottage will be expanded on two sides to meet the needs of a growing extended family while maintaining the connection with the tranquil setting. The renovation/addition is designed to enhance the view of the river and welcome an abundance of natural sunlight from the southeast exposure. The original cottage was insulated and winterized, but the layout was a little too cozy when everyone gathered, and it was designed for warm-weather use. The vision is to expand it for use as our clients’ four-season retirement home and a comfortable vacation destination for their family and friends.
The spacious great room addition and dining room caters to large family gatherings and a new kitchen boasts a large island with seating, significantly more counter space, and a generous pantry. The spacious new entryway off the covered porch welcomes guests and makes it much easier to shed coats and boots during the colder months. The spacious walk-in closet in the front foyer provides plentiful storage space for outerwear, hats, boots, shoes, and more. The laundry is now conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen.
Creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces, the expansive new screened porch will accommodate family and friends as they gather to enjoy the beautiful view and warm breezes off the water without the annoyance of bugs.
On the lower level, the expanded space includes a new 5th bedroom, office, storage room and mechanical room. The exterior reflects a Modern Craftsman style, integrating existing with new to create a cohesive look.
The project posed a unique challenge due to the irregular lot and the need to work with the existing locations of the cottage and existing detached garage. Our team navigated these constraints, creating a design that optimizes the existing and new space and maintains a strong visual connection with the surrounding landscape.

Laqfoil Ltd.The issues that annoyed the family in this condo are common to new condo units: Low ceilings covered with a popcorn finish, small rooms, low light in the bedrooms and living room, and no ceiling light fixtures. Concrete ceilings are not only difficult to drill into to install fixtures, installing wiring behind them for such fixtures is impossible. There are often conduits for building services embedded in the concrete along with structural steel reinforcements, so drilling without x-raying first is dangerous.
Laqfoil stretch ceiling provided a solution to all of these issues for this condo unit. A high gloss finish was chosen, as the reflections visually double the height of the space. Installing a stretch ceiling also naturally conceals the popcorn ceiling behind it, but in this case, was also used to conceal the wiring necessary to add ceiling lights in every room. The wiring was simply attached to the existing popcorn ceiling. Laqfoil stretch ceiling is supported around the perimeter only, by tracks, or profiles which are only about 0.75" thick. The ceiling membrane itself is less than one millimetre thick.
We also added a small vector graphic, printed in each corner of the living room ceiling, for a unique aesthetic effect.
We constructed a suspended bulkhead above the island and covered it with red high gloss membrane, to visually separate the kitchen and living room while keeping the design's open concept. This also provided a supporting structure for 3 mini chandelier pendant lights.
A red rose depicted on a black and white textured ground was chosen for the kitchen ceiling and applied using digital wide format printing technology, to tie the red, black and white colour scheme with the kitchen cabinets' texture.
Dawson & ClintonThe design for this home in Palo Alto looked to create a union between the interior and exterior, blending the spaces in such a way as to allow residents to move seamlessly between the two environments. Expansive glazing was used throughout the home to complement this union, looking out onto a swimming pool centrally located within the courtyard.
Within the living room, a large operable skylight brings in plentiful sunlight, while utilizing self tinting glass that adjusts to various lighting conditions throughout the day to ensure optimal comfort.
For the exterior, a living wall was added to the garage that continues into the backyard. Extensive landscaping and a gabion wall was also created to provide privacy and contribute to the sense of the home as a tranquil oasis.

Butler DevelopmentsButler Developments worked as a general contractor on this two story custom home in Pinetop, AZ. Coordinating project managers for design and multiple specialists we built the home from start to finish to the owner's specifications.
The exterior design consists of a combination of masonry on the lower level and shingle siding on the second level. The modern rustic look matches the natural materials and colors used in the support beams, the brick driveway, natural wood doors and shutters, and abundant trees on the lot.
Here we revisit the entry. At this point in the project, we stained the upper beams to brighten the home while matching the darker color of the eaves. With more sunlight, you can see how the different materials blend together in a natural way.
Note the decorative and functional rain chain at the end of the gutter. The chain adds a unique look to the home while removing water from the roof and allowing underground dispersal without annoying puddles.
