Creating a personal wellness retreat doesn't always mean starting from scratch. Through thoughtful design-build solutions, this Portland metro primary bathroom renovation showcases how reimagining your existing space can deliver extraordinary results.
Nestled into the side of Cooper Mountain, this stunning remodel artfully balances bold neutrality with warm, natural elegance. The centerpiece of the transformation—a spacious cedar-clad sauna—connects harmoniously with the expanded double shower, where biophilic accent tile reflects in the striking wall tile like dappled sunlight on water. The refined vanity area, featuring expertly repainted cabinetry and luminous countertops, ties the space together with subtle sophistication.
The success of this luxury renovation stems from strategic space planning and custom craftsmanship. By removing the existing oversized tub and deck—elements that weren't serving the homeowners' needs—we created space for a fully custom two-person sauna. The shower expansion, though modest at 12 inches, significantly enhanced the comfort and functionality for two users, demonstrating how thoughtful design can maximize every square foot.
What sets this project apart is its fully integrated design-build approach. Rather than relying on prefabricated solutions, the custom sauna was designed and constructed from the ground up. This complex undertaking required seamless coordination among electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades across the Portland Metro Area, all working together to transform a standard bathroom into a high-performance wellness retreat.
Client collaboration played a pivotal role in the project's success. Through detailed 3D renderings, curated photo books, and hands-on material samples, the homeowners could confidently visualize and participate in design decisions. Every element—from the rich cedar sauna cladding to the plumbing fixtures—was carefully selected to create a perfect balance of aesthetics, performance, and budget considerations.
Speaking of budget, strategic decisions helped prioritize the homeowners' main objectives: a comfortable two-person sauna and an expanded shower. Instead of complete replacement, the existing cabinetry received a professional refinishing, maintaining a fresh, cohesive look while reducing material costs. By thoughtfully retaining elements like plumbing fixtures, electrical wiring, and the toilet location, we avoided unnecessary expenses while upgrading lighting with efficient LED fixtures where needed.
This primary bathroom and sauna project exemplifies how a collaborative design-build approach can transform your vision into reality. By combining strategic space planning, custom craftsmanship, and budget-conscious decisions, we created a personalized wellness retreat that delivers both luxury and functionality.

A captivating transformation in the coveted neighborhood of University Park, Dallas
The heart of this home lies in the kitchen, where we embarked on a design endeavor that would leave anyone speechless. By opening up the main kitchen wall, we created a magnificent window system that floods the space with natural light and offers a breathtaking view of the picturesque surroundings. Suspended from the ceiling, a steel-framed marble vent hood floats a few inches from the window, showcasing a mesmerizing Lilac Marble. The same marble is skillfully applied to the backsplash and island, featuring a bold combination of color and pattern that exudes elegance.
Adding to the kitchen's allure is the Italian range, which not only serves as a showstopper but offers robust culinary features for even the savviest of cooks. However, the true masterpiece of the kitchen lies in the honed reeded marble-faced island. Each marble strip was meticulously cut and crafted by artisans to achieve a half-rounded profile, resulting in an island that is nothing short of breathtaking. This intricate process took several months, but the end result speaks for itself.
To complement the grandeur of the kitchen, we designed a combination of stain-grade and paint-grade cabinets in a thin raised panel door style. This choice adds an elegant yet simple look to the overall design. Inside each cabinet and drawer, custom interiors were meticulously designed to provide maximum functionality and organization for the day-to-day cooking activities. A vintage Turkish runner dating back to the 1960s, evokes a sense of history and character.
The breakfast nook boasts a stunning, vivid, and colorful artwork created by one of Dallas' top artist, Kyle Steed, who is revered for his mastery of his craft. Some of our favorite art pieces from the inspiring Haylee Yale grace the coffee station and media console, adding the perfect moment to pause and loose yourself in the story of her art.
The project extends beyond the kitchen into the living room, where the family's changing needs and growing children demanded a new design approach. Accommodating their new lifestyle, we incorporated a large sectional for family bonding moments while watching TV. The living room now boasts bolder colors, striking artwork a coffered accent wall, and cayenne velvet curtains that create an inviting atmosphere. Completing the room is a custom 22' x 15' rug, adding warmth and comfort to the space. A hidden coat closet door integrated into the feature wall adds an element of surprise and functionality.
This project is not just about aesthetics; it's about pushing the boundaries of design and showcasing the possibilities. By curating an out-of-the-box approach, we bring texture and depth to the space, employing different materials and original applications. The layered design achieved through repeated use of the same material in various forms, shapes, and locations demonstrates that unexpected elements can create breathtaking results.
The reason behind this redesign and remodel was the homeowners' desire to have a kitchen that not only provided functionality but also served as a beautiful backdrop to their cherished family moments. The previous kitchen lacked the "wow" factor they desired, prompting them to seek our expertise in creating a space that would be a source of joy and inspiration.
Inspired by well-curated European vignettes, sculptural elements, clean lines, and a natural color scheme with pops of color, this design reflects an elegant organic modern style. Mixing metals, contrasting textures, and utilizing clean lines were key elements in achieving the desired aesthetic. The living room introduces bolder moments and a carefully chosen color scheme that adds character and personality.
The client's must-haves were clear: they wanted a show stopping centerpiece for their home, enhanced natural light in the kitchen, and a design that reflected their family's dynamic. With the transformation of the range wall into a wall of windows, we fulfilled their desire for abundant natural light and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Our favorite rooms and design elements are numerous, but the kitchen remains a standout feature. The painstaking process of hand-cutting and crafting each reeded panel in the island to match the marble's veining resulted in a labor of love that emanates warmth and hospitality to all who enter.
In conclusion, this tastefully lux project in University Park, Dallas is an extraordinary example of a full gut remodel that has surpassed all expectations. The meticulous attention to detail, the masterful use of materials, and the seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics create an unforgettable space. It serves as a testament to the power of design and the transformative impact it can have on a home and its inhabitants.

This loft renovation, located in New York City's West Village, demonstrates a discrete addition placed into a context rather than a complete makeover of an entire space. Although modest in size, the existing loft has an exceptional feeling of openness, making it feel spacious and airy. The design approach respects the original character and charm of the loft while introducing new elements that enhance its functionality and aesthetic appeal.

This landscape project features a series of tiered retaining walls constructed with High Format Rosetta Outcroppings, designed to stabilize a sloped backyard while improving the overall appearance of the landscape. Installed for a homeowner in Westerville, Ohio, the retaining wall system addresses significant hillside erosion while creating a structured and visually appealing outdoor environment.
The project includes three distinct tiers of Rosetta Outcropping retaining walls, strategically installed along the back hillside to help control soil movement and reduce erosion. The large-scale stone appearance of the Rosetta Outcroppings provides the look of natural quarried stone while offering the structural strength required for retaining wall applications in sloped terrain.
Each tier of the retaining wall system helps slow water runoff and stabilize the hillside by creating stepped levels across the slope. This tiered approach not only improves erosion control but also adds dimension and depth to the backyard landscape.
The textured surfaces and natural stone character of the High Format Rosetta Outcroppings blend naturally with the surrounding greenery, allowing the retaining walls to complement the existing landscape while providing essential structural support.
Retaining wall systems like this are commonly used throughout Westerville, Ohio and Central Ohio to address drainage challenges and hillside erosion. By incorporating professionally installed retaining walls, homeowners can transform unstable slopes into functional, attractive landscape features while protecting their property from ongoing soil loss.
Projects like this demonstrate how thoughtfully designed retaining walls in Westerville, Ohio can provide both practical erosion control and long-term landscape enhancement for homes throughout Central Ohio.

Project Objective
The goal of this project was to deliver a highly realistic 3D visualization of a bedroom overlooking the forest, where contemporary comfort is seamlessly combined with natural serenity. The intention was to create not only a functional interior but also an atmosphere that reflects the calm and restorative qualities of the surrounding landscape.
Approach & Process
- Spatial Planning: The layout was developed with a strong focus on ergonomics and user experience, ensuring optimal proportions and flow.
- Materials & Lighting: Natural textures, such as wood and soft textiles, were paired with a warm, diffused lighting scheme to evoke a peaceful and immersive ambiance.
- Camera Work: Each camera angle was strategically chosen to emphasize the interplay between interior details and the expansive forest views, showcasing both design precision and emotional impact.
Outcome
The final visualization demonstrates a refined balance between aesthetics and practicality. Attention to detail — from fabric textures to the way light shifts across surfaces — allowed for the creation of an atmosphere that is not only visually convincing but also emotionally resonant. This project reflects my ability to translate design concepts into immersive, photorealistic visual experiences.

Eichler X-100 Bathroom: A Study in Efficiency, Light, and Modern Living
The bathrooms in the Eichler X-100 are a fascinating blend of innovation and restraint—spaces where efficiency, light, and thoughtful design come together in a way that feels both practical and ahead of its time. Designed by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons for Joseph Eichler, these rooms reflect a highly intentional approach to everyday living.
A Unique Shared-Core Concept
At the heart of the design is the X-100’s central utility core, where the bathrooms are arranged in a paired configuration. This innovative layout allows for:
Efficient use of space
Shared plumbing systems
Simultaneous use by multiple occupants
The result is a plan that minimizes wasted space while maximizing functionality—a hallmark of mid-century modern thinking.
Light from Above
Rather than relying on traditional windows, the bathrooms are illuminated by overhead skylights, bringing in soft, diffused natural light while maintaining complete privacy.
This creates an atmosphere that feels:
Bright, yet secluded
Open, yet intimate
Calm, yet visually engaging
Light becomes the defining feature—transforming a functional space into something experiential.
Clean Lines, Minimal Distraction
The material palette is simple and intentional, emphasizing:
Smooth, easy-to-maintain surfaces
Clean geometric forms
A lack of unnecessary ornamentation
This minimalism allows the architecture—and the experience of the space—to take center stage.
Thoughtful, Human-Centered Design
Even the details reflect a deeper level of consideration. Features such as varied control placements and efficient layouts demonstrate a focus on usability and comfort, anticipating the needs of daily routines.
Everything is designed to make life easier.
Private, Yet Connected
Though located within the central core, the bathrooms remain visually and experientially connected to the rest of the home through light and spatial flow. They feel integrated, not isolated.
This continuity reinforces the X-100’s overarching philosophy:
every space is part of a larger system.
A Modern Approach—Decades Ahead
What makes the X-100 bathrooms so compelling is how forward-thinking they remain. Concepts like efficient layouts, shared functionality, and natural-light-driven design are widely embraced today—but were radical in 1956.
The bathrooms of the Eichler X-100 prove that even the most utilitarian spaces can be elevated through thoughtful design—where simplicity, innovation, and light create an experience that is both functional and refined.

Our client-centered approach ensures each project is tailored to meet your specific needs, large or small. Recently, we completed a comprehensive exterior and interior renovation that demonstrates our commitment to quality and attention to detail.
For the exterior, we began by thoroughly cleaning the roofing of the house, garage, and barn, removing moss, mildew, and algae to restore the surfaces to their original condition. We then meticulously prepped and painted the exteriors, ensuring a fresh and appealing look. The installation of new entry doors with custom hardware added both functionality and aesthetic value.
Attention was given to replacing exterior trim lumber and deck steps, addressing all discussed and required areas. The deck and steps leading to the lake were power washed and sealed, providing durability and a polished finish. We extended this care to the gazebo, cleaning, sealing, and rescreening it as needed, ensuring it remained a welcoming outdoor space.
To enhance the property's maintenance, we cleaned rust stains from the house and installed a Gutter Rx Gutter Guard System on the house, garage, and barn, preventing future debris build-up and water damage. Additionally, we trimmed and pruned the trees surrounding the deck, stairs, gazebo, and rear roof, maintaining both the health of the trees and the beauty of the property.
This project exemplifies our dedication to client satisfaction, ensuring every detail is managed with precision and care. At Homeowner Services of Michigan, we are passionate about transforming your home, inside and out, to create spaces that are both functional and beautiful.

This restaurant counter bar exemplifies a masterful application of coastal interior design, blending natural textures and calming earth tones to create a welcoming and relaxed dining experience. The lights cast a soft, golden glow that enhances the ambiance, making the bar area feel intimate yet open. Their generous scale anchors the space and draws the eye upward, adding depth and architectural interest without overpowering the clean lines and minimal decor. Paired with light wood finishes, woven textures, and subtle botanical accents, the pendants contribute to a serene, beach-inspired atmosphere that is both stylish and approachable.
For restaurant designers, this space demonstrates how lighting can define and elevate the mood of a dining environment. The integration of natural materials like rattan, when scaled thoughtfully and paired with neutral finishes, offers a timeless yet on-trend solution that supports a laid-back coastal identity while maintaining high design integrity.
