The main door leads to the entry hall. To the right is the living room and stairway. Directly ahead of the entry is the library. We reupholstered a vintage settee the clients had, replacing the torn rattan, and using a performance teal velvet for the cushion.

What is the first room you see as you walk in your front door? A messy, yet productive office? A fun playroom for your kids? So many of my clients have expressed the need to close off these types of rooms to create more of an organized feel in their foyer. Scroll to see the custom sliding glass doors!
When throwing around ideas to my client, Dr. @lenolen we explored doing a pair of doors that would open into the room with a glass transom above. In my head, it just didn't seem special enough for their house that we totally re-designed.
We came up with a custom pair of 8' sliding doors so they would not protrude into the playroom taking up valuable space. I'll admit, the custom hardware took WAY longer than expected because the vendor sent the wrong thing. But, this is exactly why you should hire an Interior Designer! Let Design Actually worry about the hiccups that inevitably will arise so you can spend more time on things you need to accomplish. Click the website in my bio to see more of her house!

Carolina Maholik from Reico Kitchen & Bath in Chantilly, VA, collaborated with Thomas Amooson and Patrick Dennis to design a transitional bathroom remodel featuring Ultracraft Cabinetry.
The bathroom cabinets are the Daytona door style in an Urban Grey painted finish.
The clients expressed how it was a dream to work with Carolina saying, “she has an exceptional eye for design and helped us through completing three bathroom projects. Not only is Carolina great with design but she also addresses any problems that arise. She clearly puts the customer first.”
“The clients were wonderful to work with,” said Carolina. “They both have great design instincts and wanted each room to have a clear design while still matching the character of their home. I truly loved working with them for each bathroom and think each space came together beautifully on their own as well as a cohesive home.”

Studio26homes, a design/ build firm dedicated to creating highly efficient, healthy homes, recently completed a 4,700+ sf project in Orefield, PA. The private residence earned the Gold rating from the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) National Green Building Guidelines certification program as the 19th certified project of any level in the country. To reach the gold standard, Orefield had to earn at least 395 points and ended up surpassing that requirement with a grand total of 542 points.
Studio26homes hadn’t used Eldorado Stone before this project and were pleased to find that Eldorado is not only passionate about what they do but also back up their products should any problems arise. The fact that Eldorado Stone is locally manufactured, offers low maintenance, is competitively priced, and features the geometric shape they were looking for provided further confirmation that this was the company to work with. They chose Eldorado’s Castle Stone and were originally going to only apply it onto the fireplace and chimney. However, because the product complemented the home’s shade of red, they chose to do a more dramatic application, which resulted in great satisfaction for both the team and the homeowners.

Main Line Kitchen Design has a different business model than other kitchen showrooms, designers, and cabinetry dealers. The difference helps us to do five important things better than our competitors.
The kitchens we sell are better designed and our designers are more experienced. This is because we insist on showing customers designs we recommend, BEFORE, we do a design they request. This way, final designs tend to be more collaborative and professional. Our designers are more experienced because they are better paid and design with more cabinet brands than at other dealers.
Our pricing for cabinets is less than other cabinet dealers. This is because we do not have a showroom open to the public, and we require a small deposit and a screening before we accept customers. This helps our designers spend their time more effectively. And, it eliminates 80% of the overhead kitchen showrooms spend on staffing, larger displays, and on a curbside location.
We carry more brands of cabinetry than other dealers. This is possible because we display one cabinet for each brand we sell. Through glass countertops clients can examine a brands construction quality, and we display the door styles and finishes of our brands. Instead of the larger displays customers see in traditional showrooms, our customers can view 5 million kitchens on Houzz.com, or the hundreds of our kitchen renovations we show on Houzz, our web site, and in framed photos on the walls of our office building.
Kitchen construction is often better organized and generally costs less. This is because we recommend general contractors free of charge. They supervise construction from scheduling to completion. This eliminates a middleman, reduces delays, and eliminates the fees that almost all showrooms and home centers charge their customers. We are also happy to work with any contractor a customer finds on their own. If we haven’t worked with that contractor before they may need more of our direction, but both companies can benefit from working together and possibly referring each other in the future.
Less problems arise, and if they do, they are handled more quickly. This is because every kitchen we sell is reviewed by at least 3 kitchen designers during the ordering process. Our Operations Manager Ed Sossich checks orders and schedules all warehouse and home deliveries. Our delivery manager Mark Mitten supervises every delivery and checks in each cabinet and part. And our CRM system, Monday, prompts each person responsible for each phase of a customer’s kitchen with automated alerts. This keeps things moving, even during supply chain disruptions, and ensures no step is overlooked.
Main Line Kitchen Design’s company slogan is “The world of kitchen design is changing . . . “. We pride ourselves on being innovative in everything we do. From our web site and how we advertise, to the gift we send each customer upon the completion of their kitchen.
Our business model helps us receive 100’s of 5-star reviews, and makes our kitchen projects more enjoyable for everyone.
We look forward to working with you.

Blossom End Rot (BER) is not a disease, it's a physiological condition of tomatoes. It usually occurs after a heat wave early in the summer, and arises when the plant's growth outstrips its ability to deliver water all the way to the tip of the fruit. It usually only affects the tomato trusses that are growing rapidly at the time.
Irregular or inadequate water is the most common cause, and over-fertilization can contribute. Inadequate calcium was once thought to be the culprit, but only in rare cases is calcium deficiency the cause. BER is common in container-grown tomatoes.
Affected tomatoes are still edible, just cut off the bad part of the fruit. With adequate water, the problem usually self-corrects, but if you want to avoid it entirely, grow cherry tomatoes. Photo by Steve Masley

Small cramped bathroom has been enlarged. Clients intend to make this their forever home and wanted their master bathroom to be more comfortable now and able to accommodate any future accessibility issues that may arise as they age in place.

Having purchased our first house in Valley Glen, North Hollywood, we were aware it was in need of serious remodeling. A 1950s Ranch-style home, it came complete with peeling wallpaper, musty carpeting, and even some dilapidated walls. As first-time homeowners we were prepared to spend more money to improve it, but weary when we began meeting contractors. Buyer’s remorse already set in when we interviewed several contractors who were either aloof or unscrupulous.
Then we were fortunate enough to find Mike Ross. He immediately allayed our stress with his professional and forthright demeanor and his integrity was as rock solid from the day we met him through the several months it took to complete our large renovation.
While we had some specific things we wanted in our house, Mike and his team took our wish list and far exceeded our expectations to help truly realize the vision of our dream. Originally a three-bedroom, fourteen-hundred square foot home, our remodel brought an addition of a thousand square feet as well as an overhaul of the landscape; this prospect was particularly daunting for uninitiated owners such as us, but Mike’s consummate professionalism shone through and made the task exponentially less stressful for us.
As well as a new 850 sf Master Bedroom, including a fireplace, and a steam unit in the bath, we added a cozy home theater room, laundry room, and the once forgotten backyard brought a new deck and patio with a trellis. Furthermore, because we went green and made it a smart home, we’re already more energy efficient. In several rooms, as well as the main hallway, for example, Mike installed solar tubes and the amount of natural light that bathes the house is amazing. Even my mom, when she came to visit, was always looking for a light-switch.
As our contractor, Mike Ross took the reins to steer the project and keep it on course and he did so exceptionally. Mike and his team were as attentive to the quality of every nook and corner and he always sought our approval and happiness. Consistently communicative, he always kept us in the loop about progress and was always there to answer any questions and concerns. When an unforeseen contingency did arise, Mike assuaged our concerns by taking action ASAP to rectify the problem. Mike’s team, too, all take pleasure in their efforts. An eclectic group of skilled artisans and craftsmen, they are all polite, punctual, and proud of their work.
Thank you, Mike Ross, for your outstanding leadership, your impeccable standards, and your commitment to our happiness.

Noting the debris in the foreground, imagine what this place looked like prior to the landscape renovation. The challenge was to bring dignity and calm to such an eclectic mess of funky structures and exposed utilities. How to unify aged chocolate metal siding, sterile, glaring white aluminum siding and a beautiful old wooden shed?
This gate is the first hint of the leitmotif that attempts to do just that. Conceived and fabricated by artist Jes Sanderford, his materials are a byproduct of the solar industry in which he works and collected on his backcountry mountain forays exploring old mines and camps.
Stay tuned (to KDNK) to see the new fence that arises in response to what Jes instigated!
