Restoration project of a modern house attributed to a famous New Canaan architect. The Harvard Five were based here in New Canaan, and the influences are apparent throughout homes in the area. Original details were preserved, and new features were added in the modern tradition.

"Beginning to end, it honestly has been a pleasure to work with Jason. He possesses a rare combination of attributes that afford him the simultaneous perspective of an architect, an engineer, and a builder. In our case, the end result is a unique, well thought out, elegant extension of our home that truly reflects our highest aspirations. I can not recommend Jason highly enough, and am already planning our next collaboration." - Homeowner
This 19th Century home received a front porch makeover. The historic renovation consisted of:
1) Demolishing the old porch
2) Installing new footings for the extended wrap around porch
3) New 10" round columns and western red cedar railings and balusters.
4) New Ipe flooring
5) Refinished the front door (done by homeowner)
6) New siding and re trimmed windows

A local homeowner partnered with VPC Builders to create the mountain retreat of his dreams. The custom-built, two-level residence stands at 3200 square feet and features three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a bonus room, and a two-car garage.
Upon arrival, viewers are immediately captivated by a modern double front door, unique cedar trim, and bold dark colors. The exterior showcases Cypress siding and black roofing. A thin-cut, natural stone veneer placed around the covered front porch incorporates the rustic mountain setting.
Inside the home, the natural lighting provides a bright and crisp space that compliments the recessed lighting and hickory engineered flooring. The living room boasts a reclaimed accent mantle, true steel beams, and a vaulted ceiling. The area provides an ideal space for entertaining on cooler evenings with a full steel gas fireplace.
The kitchen and dining area are visible from the living room and were custom-designed to reflect the homeowner’s passion for cooking. The kitchen harbors a double-thick island top, stunning quartz countertops, a six-burner oven, steel hood, and a full custom quartz backsplash...perfect for an aspiring chef.
The master bedroom, complete with a deck access and full bath, provides the homeowner with a private getaway. The master bathroom has a double vanity sink with a quartz countertop and a full glass steam shower. Each of the two guest rooms are fit for a queen-sized bed. They each include a full bath displaying stunning tile designs and built-in showers.
Another noteworthy attribute of the home is a covered back porch deck that features a fireplace, television mount, and a built-in bar window that connects to the kitchen.
Modern Rustic Lodge truly offers a stunning escape to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Every detail was tailored to complement the homeowner’s lifestyle and avocations. VPC is confident that this home will provide mountain adventures and lasting memories for years to come.

Our inspiration for this home was an updated and refined approach to Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Prairie-style”; one that responds well to the harsh Central Texas heat. By DESIGN we achieved soft balanced and glare-free daylighting, comfortable temperatures via passive solar control measures, energy efficiency without reliance on maintenance-intensive Green “gizmos” and lower exterior maintenance.
The client’s desire for a healthy, comfortable and fun home to raise a young family and to accommodate extended visitor stays, while being environmentally responsible through “high performance” building attributes, was met. Harmonious response to the site’s micro-climate, excellent Indoor Air Quality, enhanced natural ventilation strategies, and an elegant bug-free semi-outdoor “living room” that connects one to the outdoors are a few examples of the architect’s approach to Green by Design that results in a home that exceeds the expectations of its owners.

My client had recently visited England and wanted an authentic European look, with timber framing and steep pitch roofs. She also wanted lots of craftsman style woodwork in the home, with unique windows, balconies and overlooks.
I designed the home with all this in mind, but also defined the spaces to take advantage of the long views throughout the home. The land was flat, so I created ways to get daylight into the lower level. Without ever compromising the attributes that make a Tudor a Tudor, the home is designed and built to the level of the old Tudors, with the modern, open plan living for today.

HOMEREDI once again partnered with Samantha Murray from SM Design to bring our clients vision of a luxurious contemporary spa like Master Bathroom in to reality. Among many attributes this generous size bathroom boasts a stand alone vessel tub, Wall mounted double vanity from Porcelanosa and custom made stand up shower. Floor tiles were extended up against a back wall for design continuity. The Shower Floor tiling and the custom built soap insert back-splash were also matched for design aesthetics. Our clients wanted to carry through the theme of greenery, plants and vegetation so prominent in their residence for this double door and sidelite entrance. Insulated Glass Units (IGU) that encapsulate the decorative glass feature tempered glass on the interior and exterior. This 1" thick style unit has great sound-proofing, energy efficiency and worry free maintenance attributes. We used The Tiffany technique, or copper-foil method as it is also known to fabricate. This is the same method used to create Tiffany Shades, and offers greater detail and nuances of line and shape to be highlighted in the design. There are various textures of hand-blown green glass used, as well as whites for the flowers, with hand-beveled glass for accents.

These clients were looking for a designer/builder that would handle everything from concept to completion, providing peace of mind for themselves! “Working alongside Renovisions was a pleasant experience” said our clients as we cared to understand their vision, needs, wants and desires, enabling us to execute their projects successfully and professionally.
During the design phase, our well-organized staff listened to the client’s requests and combined several design elements that produced a beautiful, calming and transitional feel to the new kitchen space.
During the remodel phase, the clients had these top 5 items on the list of enhancements:
* High- functioning ventilation to clear as much odors as possible
(When we first met with the clients, they stated, “Something very fishy was going on in their outdated kitchen. Although they enjoyed cooking fish dinners, they fishy odors often annoyed them)! Renovisions designed and installed a wood hood in matching light gray painted finish with a hood liner that provided the maximum ventilation, while staying within the proper building code of a 350cfm air exchange, without having to add a make -up air system which would have added to the cost of the project.
*Better functioning ‘Spinner Storage’ for interior storage. The clients loved them in their old kitchen; we furnished and installed new and better-quality spinners storage units.
*A unique opening between the kitchen and family room that allowed homeowners to pass meals through as they enjoyed a movie from the family room.
*A Smart-Divide porcelain enamel sink with stainless steel grids allow plenty of room for dirty dishes, pots and pans as well as separate areas to prep and wash dishes as needed.
* Anti-glare finishes were a must have for these clients; kitchen cabinetry in a matte gray neutral finish, faucet and cabinet hardware in a matte black finish and stunning Cambria quartz countertops in a suede finish set the stage.
At completion phase, homeowners were ensured that they were receiving high-quality products, style and craftmanship in the most efficient time frame and were thrilled with look of their new kitchen that also provided plenty of prep, entertaining and seating space.
The clients attributes the success of the design to the emotions it inspired when the job was completed – they simply love everything about it!

Chobi rugs are among the most desired and most popular rugs in the western world particularly in North America. The word Chobi with its various spelling and transliteration (choobi, choubi, chubi) is an attribution from the word “choob” with a long vowel of ”oo” as it sounds in book. “ Choob” literally means wood and originally is a Dari word that is used for the same meaning in Urdu as well as some parts of India.
