This home’s noteworthy steel shipping container construction material, offers a streamlined aesthetic and industrial vibe, with sustainable attributes and strength. Recycled shipping containers are fireproof, impervious to water and stronger than traditional building materials. Inside, muscular concrete walls, burnished cedar beams and custom oak cabinetry give the living spaces definition, decorative might, and storage and seating options. This award-winning custom home is a traditional craftsman style house with many contemporary attributes. It sits on a five acre parcel up high on a mountain that has commanding views of the entire Puget Sound, including Brentwood Bay, the Gulf Islands, Mount Baker, Victoria, and the Olympic Mountains. This home was a recipient of the 2020 People’s Choice from the Victoria Residential Builders' Association's CARE Awards. The custom cabinetry is remarkable. There is built-in cabinetry in almost every room of the house. This home is built to be timeless with its light colour-scheme. All cabinetry, rooms and countertops are white and the multitude of windows bring in natural light and show off the surroundings.

This large, bright and airy deck features an outdoor dining section, outdoor cooking area, and a lounge section. The deck was built by Chattanooga Exteriors of Tennessee. It truly epitomizes indoor/outdoor living. Their design includes heat lamps installed in the overhead roof extension for those chilly evenings. The deck material is Fiberon Horizon composite decking. Fiberon's Horizon capped composite is a reversible deck board with multiple grain patterns. The color is called "Greystone".

Stepping stones in a minimal gravel paved area lead past two lounge chairs to the intimate dining area. The herringbone-patterned limestone patio dissipates into a lush planting bed filled with loose swaths of shade-loving perennials and seasonal bulbs. Beech hedging, and formal clipped evergreens, surround the space and provide privacy, structure and winter interest to the garden. On axis to the main interior living space of the home, the fountain, is the focal point of the garden. A limestone water wall featuring an engraved pattern of fallen Honey Locust leaves nods to the centrally located mature Honey Locust tree that anchors the garden. Water, flowing down the wall, falls a short distance into a pool with a submerged limestone panel. The light noise of the falling water helps soften the sounds of the bustling downtown neighbourhood, creating a tranquil back drop for living and entertaining.

HOMEREDI once again partnered with Samantha Murray from SM Design to bring our clients vision of a luxurious contemporary spa like Master Bathroom in to reality. Among many attributes this generous size bathroom boasts a stand alone vessel tub, Wall mounted double vanity from Porcelanosa and custom made stand up shower. Floor tiles were extended up against a back wall for design continuity. The Shower Floor tiling and the custom built soap insert back-splash were also matched for design aesthetics.
