"Beginning to end, it honestly has been a pleasure to work with Jason. He possesses a rare combination of attributes that afford him the simultaneous perspective of an architect, an engineer, and a builder. In our case, the end result is a unique, well thought out, elegant extension of our home that truly reflects our highest aspirations. I can not recommend Jason highly enough, and am already planning our next collaboration." - Homeowner
This 19th Century home received a front porch makeover. The historic renovation consisted of:
1) Demolishing the old porch
2) Installing new footings for the extended wrap around porch
3) New 10" round columns and western red cedar railings and balusters.
4) New Ipe flooring
5) Refinished the front door (done by homeowner)
6) New siding and re trimmed windows

This home sits at a dramatic juncture between a state highway and the Columbia River, adjacent to the Lewis and Clark Scenic Byway. Steps away from its namesake, Steamboat Landing Park, the home has dramatic 180 degree views of the river, Mount Hood, and Oregon beyond. Creating a connection and celebrating this stunning natural setting while keeping highway noise at bay was one of this project's primary goals. Equally as important was the goal to design a high-performance building. These goals were met by implementing an energy-efficient heat pump system, radiant floor heating, 10" thick super-insulated concrete walls, closed-cell spray foam insulation in the attic, and triple-pane windows throughout. The sustainable attributes were balanced with durable and long-lasting materials, including standing seam metal roofing, stucco, and cedar siding to create a home that will stand for generations. Honoring the homeowner's request to design an age-in-place, one-level home, the plan is a simple sequence of bars with the two largest capped by gable roofs. The tallest of the bars closest to the highway is a garage, which houses the couple's much-loved Airstream. A smaller flat-roofed bar acts as a connector between the gabled forms and serves as the home's entry with the kitchen functions beyond. The largest of the bars, and the one closest to the river, includes an open concept great room flanked by two-bedroom suites on either side. A water-front deck spans the entire living and dining area, with a twenty-foot wide multi-slide panel door offering a seamless connection to an outdoor covered entertainment area. Inside, smooth concrete floors, walnut casework, and multiple skylights combine to create a truly inviting space.

My client had recently visited England and wanted an authentic European look, with timber framing and steep pitch roofs. She also wanted lots of craftsman style woodwork in the home, with unique windows, balconies and overlooks.
I designed the home with all this in mind, but also defined the spaces to take advantage of the long views throughout the home. The land was flat, so I created ways to get daylight into the lower level. Without ever compromising the attributes that make a Tudor a Tudor, the home is designed and built to the level of the old Tudors, with the modern, open plan living for today.

This court has a few unique attributes. First, the most obvious is the black ball containment fencing around three sides of the court. Secondly is the 12 foot wide nook that the Pro Dunk Platinum hoop sits in. It looks a bit awkward at first but its functional benefit is three fold. First it gives players room to run in hard for layups and rebound. Secondly it cuts down on concrete costs. Lastly, they were able to fit more court in by forming to the brick wall. This is a Pro Dunk Platinum Basketball System that was purchased in January of 2013. It was installed on a 30 ft wide by a 50 ft deep playing area in north richland hills, TX. This 1970’s split-level single-family home in an upscale Arlington neighborhood had been neglected for years. With his surrounding neighbors all doing major exterior and interior remodeling, however, the owner decided it was time to renovate his property as well. After several consultation meetings with the design team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes, he settled on an exterior layout to create an Art & Craft design for the home.
It all got started by excavating the front and left side of the house and attaching a wrap-around stone porch. Key design attributes include a black metal roof, large tapered columns, blue and grey random style flag stone, beaded stain ceiling paneling and an octagonal seating area on the left side of this porch. The front porch has a wide stairway and another set of stairs leads to the back yard.
All exterior walls of the home were modified with new headers to allow much larger custom-made windows, new front doors garage doors, and French side and back doors. A custom-designed mahogany front door with leaded glass provides more light and offers a wider entrance into the home’s living area.
Design challenges included removing the entire face of the home and then adding new insulation, Tyvek and Hardiplank siding. The use of high-efficiency low-e windows makes the home air tight.
The Arts & Crafts design touches include the front gable over the front porch, the prairie-style grill pattern on the windows and doors, the use of tapered columns sitting over stone columns and the leaded glass front door. Decorative exterior lighting provides the finishing touches to this look.
Inside, custom woodwork, crown molding, custom glass cabinets and interior pillars carry the design. Upon entering the space, visitors face a large partition that separates the living area from a gourmet Arts & Crafts kitchen and dining room.
The home’s signature space, the kitchen offers contrasting dark and light cherry cabinets. Wide plank hard wood floors, exotic granite counters and stainless steel professional-grade appliances make this a kitchen fit for any chef.

The design project of the studio is in white. The white version of the interior decoration allows to visually expanding the space. The dark wooden floor counterbalances the light space and favorably shades.
The layout of the room is conventionally divided into functional zones. The kitchen area is presented in a combination of white and black. It looks stylish and aesthetically pleasing. Monophonic facades, made to match the walls. The color of the kitchen working wall is a deep dark color, which looks especially impressive with backlighting. The bar counter makes a conditional division between the kitchen and the living room. The main focus of the center of the composition is a round table with metal legs. Fits organically into a restrained but elegant interior. Further, in the recreation area there is an indispensable attribute - a sofa. The green sofa complements the cool white tone and adds serenity to the setting. The fragile glass coffee table enhances the lightness atmosphere.
The installation of an electric fireplace is an interesting design solution. It will create an atmosphere of comfort and warm atmosphere. A niche with shelves made of drywall, serves as a decor and has a functional character. An accent wall with a photo dilutes the monochrome finish. Plants and textiles make the room cozy.
A textured white brick wall highlights the entrance hall. The necessary furniture consists of a hanger, shelves and mirrors. Lighting of the space is represented by built-in lamps, there is also lighting of functional areas.

These site-built cabinets feature so many special attributes, from the bowed-front lower cabs to the internally-lit corner display unit to the under-lighting that enhances the floating effect of the vanity furniture. Vanity lighting is incorporated in the mirrors, one of which holds a TV screen (see other picture). Design: Laura Lerond. Photo: Dan Bawden.

A circa 1920 wood frame house, the Maupas Residence required a seamless restoration of an original fireplace. An update of the hearth, firebox, and surround, supported the preservation of its original elements and ensured this historical attribute remained a central feature of the home. We designed this entire project- both the architectural house design and landscaping. This charming, coastal-style bungalow replaced a much smaller home which was lost to a devastating fire. We helped our clients turn lemons into lemonade and followed through on their vision that the entire vibe be soothing. In that vein, we recommended the house and yard be sympathetic with Florida's amazing attributes- water, sky, lush tropical plants.

The Danish modern designer of this desk has been variously attributed to Arne Wahl Iversen and Kai Kristiansen, or more probably, Aksel Kdersgaard. It is made with solid Brazilian rosewood and rosewood veneers and was recently repaired and refinished by professionals, it is ready for any home or corporate office.
