From Cramped and Awkward to Delightfully Spacious.
We recently completed a project for a client in Bronxville NY, who had purchased a newly renovated home. Among its new features was a less than inspiring builder grade kitchen. Nothing in this misguided renovation was to the new owners taste, nor did it function well. Out went the “Box Store” cabinets and laminate counters, as well as the awkward wall that shoved the refrigerator into an odd corner. At our suggestion, the client switched the locations of the family room and the dining room, placing the dining room now as part of the kitchen and allowing for much better flow. The old layout was replaced with a much more workable “L” shape, augmented by a spacious island.
The microwave relocated from over the range to a much better placement in the island, enabled us to include a beautiful hood, creating a lovely focal point. Painted Mouser cabinets and granite countertops complete the look. Now the kitchen functions much more efficiently and looks fabulous!

Entry from garage was formerly an awkward, useless space. Now there are storage cabinets and hanging over the washer and dryer. On the opposite end are two benches with coat, backpack and shoe storage. Corner shelves join the benches for overflow pantry storage.

Vacant Staging - This family room had an awkward wall that was not really part of the space. Instead of using the traditional accent table we went with a large wood wall sculpture creating visual interest and adding a small ottoman below. The small grouping is not only attractive, but the ottoman can be incorporated into the family room space when additional seating is needed.

Chicagoland Home Products pops up all over the Chicago area just looking for an awkward niche to transform into a place of custom storage, accessibility and function. Most homes have an area that is hard to get to, poorly designed or with no purpose. The design people and craftsmen at CHP are ready to look at your biggest and smallest problem places and help you fulfill your plans to bring grace to the awkward. Even if you don’t have a plan for transformation, Chicagoland Home Products will help you develop one.
Example #1 adds some usable storage space to a room that came up short when it needed a closet. Using white with flat fronts and polished chrome square pulls, this unit has base molding and in-cabinet lighting. Where there was once awkward emptiness there are now drawers, shelves and a space for hanging storage.
Example #2 takes advantage of an unused wall. This unit is highlighted with the Carnaval color and Aspen fronts. A lighting valance enriches the area and makes it look great and brings alive a space that will be used for general storage and to display whatever you would like to show off.
These are just two examples of the many ways Chicagoland Home Products can take wasted space and provide storage solutions, beauty and usefulness. Remember that CHP has a practical purpose and a storage solution for all those places in your home, office or garage that need to become so much more that they are.

A Vacant Staging - This hallway leads from the main house and master bedroom suite to an accessory apartment in the rear. Although not very wide, we brightened this space with color, recessed lighting and an attractive yet functional alcove complete with mirror and bench.

We softened the traditional entry space in this home with both color and texture. The ceramic tile, white door and light walls gave the home a cold feel as you entered. We maintained the metal elements giving this traditional home a modern feel.

The front entry of a vacant staging that opened directly into a hallway and then the kitchen. We defined the space with an accent table, lamp and some artwork. We utilized metallic finishes in both spaces and maintained the blue and green color scheme to create a cohesive transition from entry to kitchen.
