This is the main or primary bedroom we designed for a bachelor's first home. The textured wallpaper in a rich dark chocolate hue instantly added coziness and warmth to the room. We carried the wallpaper 8' up the walls and left the vaulted ceiling white to keep the room from feeling too heavy. A show-stopping industrial-style chandelier in brass is the perfect contrast to the wallpaper. The walnut nightstands, cream boucle curved headboard, plush cream rug, velvet accents, and linen bedding all combine to create a warm and restful environment. A snug reading nook was created with a red velvet chair, modern black floor lamp, and terrazzo accent table. Custom blackout Roman shades enhance sleep. Additional clothing storage was provided with a dark wood dresser for a tone on tone effect against the wallpaper. Leather pulls and black and white photography provide a touch of masculine accents. The small pops of primary colors were the final touches to bring this room to life.

It’s true in construction, and it’s true in life: sometimes, you have to get down to the bare bones and rebuild from there. A “full gut” is the complete and total rebuilding of a home from the inside out. And that’s what we did for this apartment in a 1921 home in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Our team took up the floors, raised ceilings, and moved walls, with a new architectural space as the result. The finished apartment is a playful fusion of old and new. Gritty texture meets smooth surface as exposed brick and wood headers contrast with reclaimed wood and fresh paint. The open-flow floor plan blends historic touches with a modern sensibility; when the sliding barn doors are open, the kitchen and living area connects with the bedroom/playroom area. At the center of it all, the custom dining table serves as an elegant visual anchor. Natural light streams in through an uncovered window, affording a calming glimpse of the landscaped yard and garden. At the same time, new interior lighting illumines the kitchen and the bathroom. The latter is a luxury experience, featuring a drop-in tub with granite surround, a custom-tiled niche, and a towel warmer too. The formerly dim, cramped apartment is energized and illuminated; the process of peeling back the layers changed a sub-par space into something special. Want to peel back the layers of your space? A busy family of four with young kids decided it was time to give their powder room and main suite a modern transitional facelift. They called upon our interior design expertise to update their bathroom while keeping the existing vanity and sink. They needed a new lighting design to brighten up their bathroom and powder room space and update the furniture, which was a hodge-podge of hand-me-downs. Their ultimate goal was to bring in elements of Italian glamor to make their new main suite and powder room make them feel like they were staying at a posh hotel - certainly something we could achieve! We added elegant new bedroom furniture to the main suite, which included an upholstered bed, matching nightstands, a dresser, and a dressing mirror to create that luxurious feel. A new marble tile floor, shower, and sink lent a nice Italian touch, with a listello mosaic tile border in the backsplash creating an intriguing pattern. We also brought new life to their space with gorgeous window treatments, hardwood flooring, a shag rug for a comfortable texture, and fresh paint in neutral, calming colors. We ended up with a wonderfully lavish room with brand new bedding in luxe fabrics, sparkling light fixtures and lamps with crystal accents, and brand new décor. Gugel Photography

Tucked away in the backwoods of Torch Lake, this home marries “rustic” with the sleek elegance of modern. The combination of wood, stone and metal textures embrace the charm of a classic farmhouse. Although this is not your average farmhouse. The home is outfitted with a high performing system that seamlessly works with the design and architecture. The tall ceilings and windows allow ample natural light into the main room. Spire Integrated Systems installed Lutron QS Wireless motorized shades paired with Hartmann & Forbes windowcovers to offer privacy and block harsh light. The custom 18′ windowcover’s woven natural fabric complements the organic esthetics of the room. The shades are artfully concealed in the millwork when not in use. Spire installed B&W in-ceiling speakers and Sonance invisible in-wall speakers to deliver ambient music that emanates throughout the space with no visual footprint. Spire also installed a Sonance Landscape Audio System so the homeowner can enjoy music outside. Each system is easily controlled using Savant. Spire personalized the settings to the homeowner’s preference making controlling the home efficient and convenient.

Homeowner had a very tight space which prevented any furniture or other items from getting into the basement. We tore out the existing railing and rebuilt a new oak railing with a removable system - the railing itself is one unit and can be removed and reinstalled with just nine screws. This new system will allow large furniture and other basement play things to be moved up and down the stairs without having to gut the stair railing.
