Contemporary, stylish Bachelor loft apartment in the heart of Tribeca New York.
Creating a tailored space with a lay back feel to match the client personality.
This is a loft designed for a bachelor which 4 bedrooms needed to have a different purpose/ function so he could use all his rooms. We created a master bedroom suite, a guest bedroom suite, a home office and a gym.
Several custom pieces were designed and specifically fabricated for this exceptional loft with a 12 feet high ceiling.
It showcases a custom 12’ high wall library as well as a custom TV stand along an original brick wall. The sectional sofa library, the dining table, mirror and dining banquette are also custom elements.

Living room - contemporary living room idea in Miami
Living room - contemporary living room idea in Miami

A pre-war West Village bachelor pad inspired by classic mid-century modern designs, mixed with some industrial, traveled, and street style influences. Our client took inspiration from both his travels as well as his city (NY!), and we really wanted to incorporate that into the design. For the living room we painted the walls a warm but light grey, and we mixed some more rustic furniture elements, (like the reclaimed wood coffee table) with some classic mid-century pieces (like the womb chair) to create a multi-functional kitchen/living/dining space. We painted the entire backslash wall in chalkboard paint, and continued the "kitchen wall" idea through to the living room for a cohesive look, by creating a bar set up on the credenza under the TV.

A successful entrepreneur and self-proclaimed bachelor, the owner of this 1,100-square-foot Yaletown property sought a complete renovation in time for Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. The goal: make it party central and keep the neighbours happy. For the latter, we added acoustical insulation to walls, ceilings, floors and doors. For the former, we designed the kitchen to provide ample catering space and keep guests oriented around the bar top and living area. Concrete counters, stainless steel cabinets, tin doors and concrete floors were chosen for durability and easy cleaning. The black, high-gloss lacquered pantry cabinets reflect light from the single window, and amplify the industrial space’s masculinity.
To add depth and highlight the history of the 100-year-old garment factory building, the original brick and concrete walls were exposed. In the living room, a drywall ceiling and steel beams were clad in Douglas Fir to reference the old, original post and beam structure.
We juxtaposed these raw elements with clean lines and bold statements with a nod to overnight guests. In the ensuite, the sculptural Spoon XL tub provides room for two; the vanity has a pop-up make-up mirror and extra storage; and, LED lighting in the steam shower to shift the mood from refreshing to sensual.

A bachelor pad Bruce Wayne would approve of, this 1,000 square-foot Yaletown property belonging to a successful inventor-entrepreneur was to be soiree central for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. A concept juxtaposing rawness with sophistication was agreed on, morphing what was an average two bedroom in its previous life to a loft with concrete floors and brick walls revealed and complemented with gloss, walnut, chrome and Corian. All the manly bells and whistle are built-in too, including Control4 smart home automation, custom beer trough and acoustical features to prevent party noise from reaching the neighbours.

A West Village bachelor pad inspired by classic mid-century modern designs, mixed with some industrial, traveled, and street style influences. The space was a pre-war one bedroom that had certainly withheld the test of time, and we wanted to highlight the architectural elements that the space offered (such as the molding details, windows etc.). Our client took inspiration from both this travels as well as his city (NY!), and we really wanted to incorporate that into the design. In the foyer we turned a photo that we had taken of a nearby graffiti wall into a removable wallpaper, that we inset into the picture frame style moldings.

Having successfully designed the then bachelor’s penthouse residence at the Waldorf Astoria, Kadlec Architecture + Design was retained to combine 2 units into a full floor residence in the historic Palmolive building in Chicago. The couple was recently married and have five older kids between them all in their 20s. She has 2 girls and he has 3 boys (Think Brady bunch). Nate Berkus and Associates was the interior design firm, who is based in Chicago as well, so it was a fun collaborative process.
Details:
-Brass inlay in natural oak herringbone floors running the length of the hallway, which joins in the rotunda.
-Bronze metal and glass doors bring natural light into the interior of the residence and main hallway as well as highlight dramatic city and lake views.
-Billiards room is paneled in walnut with navy suede walls. The bar countertop is zinc.
-Kitchen is black lacquered with grass cloth walls and has two inset vintage brass vitrines.
-High gloss lacquered office
-Lots of vintage/antique lighting from Paris flea market (dining room fixture, over-scaled sconces in entry)
-World class art collection
