Santorini holds fond memories for the homeowner and this mural celebrates them in style. A charming mural with hand painted tile accents adds charm to this kitchen.

2x4 handmade tiles work great in this small space. Glaze color Skky, a soft blue/grey with a crackle finish. Behind the we used 4x8 Florette deco tiles with a repeating pattern. The gingko leaf has a special meaning to the home owners, so we impressed them into a few of the tiles to add a personal touch

The slightly angled tile at the top of the backsplash is a fun detail and accentuates the high ceilings.

For this mudroom remodel the homeowners came in to Dillman & Upton frustrated with their current, small and very tight, laundry room. They were in need of more space and functional storage and asked if I could help them out. Once at the job site I found that adjacent to the the current laundry room was an inefficient walk in closet. After discussing their options we decided to remove the wall between the two rooms and create a full mudroom with ample storage and plenty of room to comfortably manage the laundry. Inspiration for a transitional kitchen remodel in Chicago

This petite kitchen was previously closed off from the dining and living room. The compact size of the kitchen made it difficult for the client to host their large family gatherings. With the new design, the spaces were joined by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. The space of the kitchen was optimized by recessing items into adjacent walls. The refrigerator was recessed into the wall of the adjacent garage. The ovens, pantry, and appliance garage were recessed into the wall, borrowing a few square feet from the bedroom closet and living room. The finishes throughout the kitchen celebrate the clients love of travel and collection of keepsakes from around the world. The mosaic printed tiles on the backsplash and refrigerator wrap bring an eclectic mix of encaustic tile designs from around the world. In the kitchen, an op-art inspired backsplash echoes the owner's collection of optical art on display throughout the apartment. A computer program was utilized in the design of the pattern.
