Francesca called me, nearly 13 years ago, as she had seen one of our ads in the Orange County Living Magazine. In that particular ad, she fell in love with the mural work our artists had done for another home we designed in Huntington Beach, California. Although this was a newly built home in Portofira Estates neighborhood, in the city of Orange, both she and her husband knew they would eventually add to the existing square footage, making the family room and kitchen much bigger.
We proceeded with designing the house as her time frame and budget proceeded until we completed the entire home.
Then, about 5 years ago, Francesca and her husband decided to move forward with getting their expansion project underway. They moved the walls out in the family room and the kitchen area, creating more space. They also added a game room to the upstairs portion of their home. The results are spectacular!
This family room has a large angular sofa with a shaped wood frame. Two oversized chairs and ottomans on either side of the sofa to create a circular conversation and almost theatre like setting. A warm, wonderful color palette of deep plums, caramels, rich reds, burgundy, calming greens and accents of black make the entire home come together perfectly.
The entertainment center wraps the fireplace and nook shelving as it takes up the entire wall opposite the sofa. The window treatments consist of working balloon shades in a deep plum silk with valances in a rich gold silk featuring wrought iron rods running vertically through the fabric. The treatment frames the stunning panoramic view of all of Orange County.

We had the honor to work with one of the best tiles designer from U.S., Suzi Stern Portugal. She and her husband they bought a house a year ago in Toms River, NJ. They made all the necessary renovations and they design the house in such a way that you feel relaxed and calm, because they brought the outside colors in and everything matches very well.
The blue of the ocean and the sky works beautifully as a backdrop to their open concept kitchen and because is so much light in this house, Suzi decided to use glass to reflect the light and to create a high-impact effect.
They have an incredible view , but now the kitchen backsplash takes your eyes !

Double A-frame cabin - extensive remodeling and addition
Perched on the waterfront at Lovejoy Point on Whidbey Island, this beachfront cabin offers breathtaking year-round views of Puget Sound. Originally designed and built by Captain Lovejoy’s granddaughter and her husband, the home features a distinctive double A-frame structure. The current owner enlisted UDS to enhance the space by adding a guest suite and sunroom while maximizing its stunning views.
Our approach was to honor and emphasize the home’s unique character while seamlessly integrating modern design elements. This double A-frame had a hidden gem—its unique internal structure wasn’t fully expressed on the exterior. We embraced this character and reimagined the design to highlight the double A-frame form while expanding the space.

Beach Home Office
"My designer and I had been searching for an idea to capture fun and energy in my home office remodel. We had a beach concept, but needed something exciting to pull it off. After seeing this mural design online we knew we had just the thing. I was a little worried about the install as my husband and I were going to do it on our own - but after we got started it was done in just one evening. Lining up the seams was easy to do, looks professional and got perfect results - Just what I wanted! Thanks Magic Murals!"

IDS (Interior Designer Society) Designer of the Year - National Competition - 2nd Place award winning Bathroom ($30,000 & Under) - 2014
Photo by: Louis G. Weiner Photograpy -
My clients recently purchased this vacation home and quickly developed a design wish-list which included a full remodel of the master bathroom. This builder's-choice master bathroom might have been stylish and in when built in 1985, but 30 years later it has not stood the test of time.
First, we opened up the room by removing the heavy soffits and the excessive corner cabinetry. We designed a more streamline, floating vanity with beautiful quartz countertops and a waterfall edge. We expanded the footprint of the shower and created a seamless beach entry by removing the shower dam. Then we choose to wrap the room and adjacent commode with white subway tile and a custom marble border.
The most dramatic renovation was replacing the outdated jacuzzi tub with an elegant free-standing soaking tub. This was a must on the wish-list for the clients - not for the wife as you might expect - but for the husband. He is a motorcycle enthusiast and after long trips on his bike, he likes to take a soak.
Inspired to use art that tells a personal story about the clients, I recommended creating a photo canvas from a treasured picture of the husband standing with his motorcycle helmet on a beautiful desert road. This final touch connects my clients to their space and makes them smile every time they see it.
