The Murray small kitchen remodel demonstrated the immense potential of a small kitchen makeover. We started by stripping everything to the studs, enabling us to redesign the layout and make adjustments to the kitchen's overall flow.
In the design layout, we closed off a doorway to allow more wall space for additional full custom cabinetry and appliances, enhancing the kitchen's functionality. We extended the counters and repositioned the refrigerator to improve the workspace and flow.
The new island, highlighted with pendant lighting and set on stylish hardwood flooring, became the focal point, providing extra counter space and a gathering spot. Additional features like under-cabinet lighting, a touch-activated faucet, and a custom hood boosted the kitchen's overall appeal and practicality.
Modern elements like the integrated speed oven in the island cabinetry, and the new hardwood flooring throughout, completed the transformation. The Murray kitchen remodel project successfully combined style and function, transforming a modest kitchen into a warm, inviting, and efficient space.

We touched every corner of the main level of the historic 1903 Dutch Colonial. True to our nature, Storie edited the existing residence by redoing some of the work that had been completed in the early 2000s, kept the historic moldings/flooring/handrails, and added new (and timeless) wainscoting/wallpaper/paint/furnishings to modernize yet honor the traditional nature of the home.

Built in 1969, this home had not been updated since its original owners. The new homeowners desired a complete revamp of the home so the house was gutted to the studs, opened up and completely redesigned to create a distinctly modern contemporary feel in this one story ranch style North Dallas home. To create the sleek gray-toned look, gray paint and subway tiles were used throughout, Galaxy White granite in kitchen and Lennon granite in a very unique Leather finish was used in the bathrooms. Light colored wood flooring to keep a traditional element still intact made this once old style home a modern and trendy abode. Space-saving Stairs have been used widely in Europe for many years and now have become quite popular in the US with the rise of the Tiny House movement. A further boost has been given to the Space-saving staircase with many of the major building codes in the US allowing them.
Here's the stair we designed and built for a client who wanted a super-slim, non-intrusive way to access their loft. It's built at the code maximum pitch of 70 degrees and has a 102" overall rise. The build code defines an alternating-tread stair as "A device that has a series of steps between 50 and 70 degrees from level... in an alternating manner so that the user does not have both feet on the same level at the same time." So just think with me; That's how we normally climb stairs isn't it? When we climb a conventional stair, we use half of the step at a time. So the idea of an alternating-tread stair is to save a huge amount of floor space by placing the treads in the position where we would normally place our foot as we climb the staircase. This is a brilliant solution for accessing an upper level when space in tight. Please contact Clyde if you want any type of custom stairs. 520-895-2060 or 916-991-9700

Space-saving staircase terminology
I normally call these Alternating-tread stairs, but there are other common terms:
• Space-saving Stair
• Alternating stair
• Thomas Jefferson Stair
• Jeffersonian staircase
• Ergonomic stair with staggered treads
• Zig-zag-style
• Boat Paddle-shaped treads
• Ship’s Ladder
• Alternating-tread devises
• Tiny-house stairs
• Crows foot stairs

This home’s classic roof structure and brick facade were hidden by over grown trees and shrubs. It cried out for architectural detail. Boring aluminum windows, rough cedar exterior trim and a front door assembly with peeling paint did little to enhance its curb appeal. It needed an exterior boost to keep it from remaining an ordinary home despite being located in an extraordinary five-acre park like setting. Ripe for an upgrade it presented a unique design build challenge to unlock its hidden potential as one of the areas outstanding homes.
The addition of the cast stone front porch and balustrade gives a “been there for decades” look and feel. Windows were relocated and resized. Custom copper dormers, ornamental iron window guards and decorative cast stone embellishments were added to provide the architectural detail that brings this home to life. The low maintenance stone and new clad divided light wood windows in conjunction with balanced landscaping frame the entrance. Courtyards with stone balustrades and a stone fountain on either side of the entry complete the exterior transformation of a plain home into an extraordinary estate.
