All aspects of the building are meticulously designed, specified, detailed, & crafted to be both stylistically appropriate and reflect building best practices. The materials palette of hand-molded brick, thick profile siding, exposed timber framing & rafters, double-hung windows, and operable louvered shutters is borrowed from the neighborhood's existing stock of mid-century craftsman ranch houses.

A small master bathroom the size of a modest closet was our starting point. Dirty tile, old fixtures, and a moldy shower room had seen their better days. So we gutted the bathroom, changed its location, and borrowed some space from the neighboring closet to compose a new master bathroom that was sleek and efficient.
Still a compact space, the new master bathroom features a unique, curbless tub/shower room, where both the shower and tub are grouped behind a simple glass panel. With no separation between tub and shower, both items are not only designed to get wet but to allow the user to go from shower to tub and back again.

This traditional girl’s bathroom combines femininity and function, with time honored details borrowed from classic furniture pieces, while updated light fixtures add glitzy fun. White subway tile contrasts beautifully with the StarMark Maple Ridgeville vanity in Shale.

A family of four shares this one full bath on the top floor of an historic Mt. Baker home, and before the renovation, a big clawfoot tub that no one in the family enjoyed showering in took up most of an already tight space. Add in the fact that the homeowners' taste leans modern while their home is solidly tradtitional and our challenge was clear: design a bathroom that allowed a crowd to get ready in the morning and balanced our clients' personal style with what made sense in the context of this older home.
The finished bathroom includes a trough sink so two people can be brushing teeth at the same time, a floating vanity with tons of storage, and a shower carved out of space borrowed from an adjacent hallway closet.

Moonbeam Oak is inspired by the delicate ray of dim light which rests on the sea’s navy surface at night time. Borrowing from this naturally beautiful sight, each board is defined by ashen hues and subtle blue tinges which undulate throughout the oak’s grain patterns. Gentle brushing brings the wood’s exciting textures to the fore and matte lacquer finishes the surface with an elegant sheen

Set in a remote district just outside Halfway, Oregon, this working ranch required a water reserve for fire fighting for the newly constructed ranch house. This pragmatic requirement was the catalyst for the unique design approach — having the water reserve serve a dual purpose: fitness and firefighting. Borrowing from the surrounding landscape, two masses — one gabled mass and one shed form — are skewed to each other, recalling the layered hills that surround the home. Internally, the two masses give way to an open, unencumbered space. The use of wood timbers, so fitting for this setting, forms the rhythm to the design, with glass infill opening the space to the surrounding landscape. The calm blue pool brings all of these elements together, serving as a complement to the green prairie in summer and the snow-covered hills in winter.

Finding a home is not easy in a seller’s market, but when my clients discovered one—even though it needed a bit of work—in a beautiful area of the Santa Cruz Mountains, they decided to jump in. Surrounded by old-growth redwood trees and a sense of old-time history, the house’s location informed the design brief for their desired remodel work. Yet I needed to balance this with my client’s preference for clean-lined, modern style.
Suffering from a previous remodel, the galley-like bathroom in the master suite was long and dank. My clients were willing to completely redesign the layout of the suite, so the bathroom became the walk-in closet. We borrowed space from the bedroom to create a new, larger master bathroom which now includes a separate tub and shower.
The look of the room nods to nature with organic elements like a pebbled shower floor and vertical accent tiles of honed green slate. A custom vanity of blue weathered wood and a ceiling that recalls the look of pressed tin evoke a time long ago when people settled this mountain region. At the same time, the hardware in the room looks to the future with sleek, modular shapes in a chic matte black finish. Harmonious, serene, with personality: just what my clients wanted.

Wabi Sabi aesthetics is the core of a design concept. The interior shows respect for the old elements. Important points in décor are Serhii’s collection of ceramics and antique home furnishings. Interesting pieces borrowed from the past – 17th-century table in the master bedroom, ancient lavas and wooden vessels which were used for the laundry. Portals between the rooms are decorated with processed trunks of trees on the pristine millstones.

This elegant dining room borrows from classical design with columns, leaded glass, and artwork on the ceiling. For a moment you may feel as if you’ve stepped back in time. However, each element reflects the homeowner’s unique taste. And the room is still intimate with a round table, warm red marble fireplace and elegantly curved cabinets for a stunning dining room design.
