This client had recently moved into this home, and they wanted to add some personal touches and changes to make it feel more like their home. I came up with a plan for their backsplash that was simple, but had such a dramatic impact on the space. Also, I designed a valance for the kitchen window to add some pattern and color to the space that reflected the client's style.

Customer desired something colorful and was not afraid of using bold colors. Consideration had to be taken so that the shutter panels can still function and open. We opted for a pleated valance with a bold off centered pleat and enhanced with coconut buttons. The outcome is stylish, functional and adds a bold design element to the room. We gave this bathroom a fresh update with a scallop box pleat valance in a white fabric embroidered in variegated blue. There is a lined shower curtain to match. The walls and floor are white tile.

Box pleated valances are scaled down to fit the proportions of the windows in the kitchen. The embroidered fabric is banded with the same trim seen on the family room treatments in the adjacent room. The slip covers on the chairs also have this trim detail.
