This closeup shows what is called a wide gimp trim, or decorative tape. This particular one is embroidered with a leaf and floral design, and works just as well horizontally as it might vertically on the leading edge of a drapery panel. The design in the trim adds movement to the valance, as does the texture in the fabric. In this way a simple inverted pleat valance feels more dynamic, less static, and more relaxed, in this home office.
