Completed in 2017, this project features midcentury modern interiors with copper, geometric, and moody accents. The design was driven by the client's attraction to a grey, copper, brass, and navy palette, which is featured in three different wallpapers throughout the home. As such, the townhouse incorporates the homeowner's love of angular lines, copper, and marble finishes. The builder-specified kitchen underwent a makeover to incorporate copper lighting fixtures, reclaimed wood island, and modern hardware. In the master bedroom, the wallpaper behind the bed achieves a moody and masculine atmosphere in this elegant "boutique-hotel-like" room. The children's room is a combination of midcentury modern furniture with repetitive robot motifs that the entire family loves. Like in children's space, our goal was to make the home both fun, modern, and timeless for the family to grow into. This project has been featured in Austin Home Magazine, Resource 2018 Issue.

Completed in 2020, this large 3,500 square foot bungalow underwent a major facelift from the 1990s finishes throughout the house. We worked with the homeowners who have two sons to create a bright and serene forever home. The project consisted of one kitchen, four bathrooms, den, and game room. We mixed Scandinavian and mid-century modern styles to create these unique and fun spaces.

A transitional townhouse for a family with a touch of modern design and blue accents. When I start a project, I always ask a client to describe three words that they want to describe their home. In this instance, the owner asked for a modern, clean, and functional aesthetic that would be family-friendly, while also allowing him to entertain. We worked around the owner's artwork by Ryan Fugate in order to choose a neutral but also sophisticated palette of blues, greys, and green for the entire home. Metallic accents create a more modern feel that plays off of the hardware already in the home. The result is a comfortable and bright home where everyone can relax at the end of a long day. Breathe Design Studio helped this young family select their design finishes and furniture. Before the house was built, we were brought in to make selections from what the production builder offered and then make decisions about what to change after completion. Every detail from design to furnishing was accounted for from the beginning and the result is a serene modern home in the beautiful rolling hills of Bee Caves, Austin.

Our Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in this Mid-Century Modern House casita. We chose colors, lines, and textures that reflect the classic mid-century design style.

The clients are especially attracted to geometrical shapes so we incorporated clean lines throughout the space. The palette was influenced by saddle leather, navy textiles, marble surfaces, and brass accents throughout. The goal was to create a clean yet warm space that pays homage to the mid-century style of this renovated home in Bull Creek.

Inspiration for a cottage family room remodel in Seattle

Completed in 2015, this project incorporates a Scandinavian vibe to enhance the modern architecture and farmhouse details. The vision was to create a balanced and consistent design to reflect clean lines and subtle rustic details, which creates a calm sanctuary. The whole home is not based on a design aesthetic, but rather how someone wants to feel in a space, specifically the feeling of being cozy, calm, and clean. This home is an interpretation of modern design without focusing on one specific genre; it boasts a midcentury master bedroom, stark and minimal bathrooms, an office that doubles as a music den, and modern open concept on the first floor. It’s the winner of the 2017 design award from the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and has been on the Tribeza Home Tour; in addition to being published in numerous magazines such as on the cover of Austin Home as well as Dwell Magazine, the cover of Seasonal Living Magazine, Tribeza, Rue Daily, HGTV, Hunker Home, and other international publications. A fresh take on traditional style, this sprawling suburban home draws its occupants together in beautifully, comfortably designed spaces that gather family members for companionship, conversation, and conviviality. At the same time, it adroitly accommodates a crowd, and facilitates large-scale entertaining with ease. This balance of private intimacy and public welcome is the result of Soucie Horner’s deft remodeling of the original floor plan and creation of an all-new wing comprising functional spaces including a mudroom, powder room, laundry room, and home office, along with an exciting, three-room teen suite above. A quietly orchestrated symphony of grayed blues unites this home, from Soucie Horner Collections custom furniture and rugs, to objects, accessories, and decorative exclamationpoints that punctuate the carefully synthesized interiors. The dark background inverts the usual concept of whites and neutrals yet creates a similar impact of beautifully highlighting the decor aspects. The striking artwork in the living room makes a statement, as does the art in the dining area. In the kitchen and library, the dark background makes the blue and red chairs pop. In the bedroom, the soft furnishings, stylish grey and white headboard, and classy decor create a soothing sanctuary to relax in.
