Photography by John Gibbons This project is designed as a family retreat for a client that has been visiting the southern Colorado area for decades. The cabin consists of two bedrooms and two bathrooms – with guest quarters accessed from exterior deck. Project by Studio H:T principal in charge Brad Tomecek (now with Tomecek Studio Architecture). The project is assembled with the structural and weather tight use of shipping containers. The cabin uses one 40’ container and six 20′ containers. The ends will be structurally reinforced and enclosed with additional site built walls and custom fitted high-performance glazing assemblies.

This bright kitchen features gorgeous white UltraCraft cabinetry and natural wood floors. The island countertop is Mont Blanc honed quartzite with a build-up edge treatment. To contrast, the perimeter countertop is Silver Pearl Leathered granite. All of the elements are tied together in the backsplash which features New Calacatta marble subway tile with a beautiful waterjet mosaic insert over the stove.

Inspiration for a craftsman home office remodel in DC Metro

When the homeowners first purchased the 1925 house, it was compartmentalized, outdated, and completely unfunctional for their growing family. Casework designed the owner's previous kitchen and family room and was brought in to lead up the creative direction for the project. Casework teamed up with architect Paul Crowther and brother sister team Ainslie Davis on the addition and remodel of the Colonial. The existing kitchen and powder bath were demoed and walls expanded to create a new footprint for the home. This created a much larger, more open kitchen and breakfast nook with mudroom, pantry and more private half bath. In the spacious kitchen, a large walnut island perfectly compliments the homes existing oak floors without feeling too heavy. Paired with brass accents, Calcutta Carrera marble countertops, and clean white cabinets and tile, the kitchen feels bright and open - the perfect spot for a glass of wine with friends or dinner with the whole family. There was no official master prior to the renovations. The existing four bedrooms and one separate bathroom became two smaller bedrooms perfectly suited for the client’s two daughters, while the third became the true master complete with walk-in closet and master bath. There are future plans for a second story addition that would transform the current master into a guest suite and build out a master bedroom and bath complete with walk in shower and free standing tub. Overall, a light, neutral palette was incorporated to draw attention to the existing colonial details of the home, like coved ceilings and leaded glass windows, that the homeowners fell in love with. Modern furnishings and art were mixed in to make this space an eclectic haven.

Natural Hickory cabinets highlight the rustic vibe of this Master Bath space. Featuring a concrete countertop with urban industrial fixtures, and lots of natural light. The floor tile in the shower replicate pebbles that spill out around the freestanding tub, and the fireplace with natural stone adds the warmth to the space. The pecky cypress pergola adds durability, shade and charm to this adorable summer kitchen. The designers of Creative Construction re-purposed existing granite counters from the clients' interior and repeated the travertine up the sides of the kitchen, allowing for a seamless transition from the other areas of the courtyard to the BBQ nook.

The owners of this home, purchased it from an architect, who converted an old factory, in downtown Jersey City, into a house. When the family grew, they needed to either move, or extend this house they love so much. Being that this is a historical-preservation building, the front had to remain 'as is'. Owners hired Fogarty Finger architects to redesign the home and Kuche+Cucina, for the kitchen, closets and the party kitchenette. Pedini cabinets were chosen, for their sleek, minimal look, in both matte glass and matte lacquer, for different textures. The work countertop, was done in durable quartz, while the island and the backsplash are real marble.

A small full basement bathroom in our Modern Spanish-Style Revival project boasts a tiled focal vanity wall with floating shelves, brass details, and red penny floor tiles.

Inspiration for a transitional laundry room remodel in Salt Lake City

Klopf Architecture completely remodeled this once dark Eichler house in Palo Alto creating a more open, bright and functional family home. The reconfigured great room with new full height windows and sliding glass doors blends the indoors with the newly landscaped patio and seating areas outside. The former galley kitchen was relocated and was opened up to have clear sight lines through the great room and out to the patios and yard, including a large island and a beautiful walnut bar countertop with seating. An integrated small front addition was added allowing for a more spacious master bath and hall bath layouts. With the removal of the old brick fireplace, larger sliding glass doors and multiple skylights now flood the home with natural light. The goals were to work within the Eichler style while creating a more open, indoor-outdoor flow and functional spaces, as well as a more efficient building envelope including a well insulated roof, providing solutions that many Eichler homeowners appreciate. The original entryway lacked unique details; the clients desired a more gracious front approach. The historic Eichler color palette was used to create a modern updated front facade. Durable grey porcelain floor tiles unify the entire home, creating a continuous flow. They, along with white walls, provide a backdrop for the unique elements and materials to stand on their own, such as the brightly colored mosaic tiles, the walnut bar and furniture, and stained ceiling boards. A secondary living space was extended out to the patio with the addition of a bench and additional seating. The homeowners loved the location of their small Cape Cod home, but they didn't love its limited interior space. A 10' addition along the back of the home and a brand new 2nd story gave them just the space they needed. With a classy monotone exterior and a welcoming front porch, this remodel is a refined example of a transitional style home.
