Inspiration for a rustic basement remodel in New York

After a flood forced a complete basement renovation, the homeowner wanted an easy-to-maintain floor without spending a lot of money. Armstrong's FlexStep Value Covingtion Oak in Dovetail was the perfect choice for her. Complementing the Purple and Gold color scheme, the warm gray of the vinyl is the perfect neutral for this space. These Auckland homeowners wanted an industrial style look for their interior home design. So when it came to building the staircase, handrail and balustrades, we knew the exposed steel in a matte black was going to be the right look for them. ​ Due to the double stringers and concrete treads, this style of staircase is extremely solid and has zero movement, massively reducing noise. Our biggest challenge on this project was that the double stringer staircase was designed with concrete treads that needed to be colour matched to the pre-existing floor.

Swimming pool built to mimic an old fashioned water hole - desert style - with large format tile - 2' x 4' - to look like steel to blend with architecture of the home. Pool is an all-tile pool with four kinds of tile - large format to look like steel, river pebbles on floor and walls, wood planking style tile on steps to match IPE wood on deck and jumping platform and glass tile for color. Pool is 10' deep throughout.
