This award-winning classic + transitional + retro kitchen remodel was part of multi-room home remodeling and interior design project. The clients wanted to include some mid-century modern elements, but didn't want the room to feel like a capsule space. We used classic slab door style kitchen cabinets in a cherry finish and a muted aqua color palette in the finishes and custom elements. Another goal was to create a space that would easily convert from small family meals to large holiday gatherings. To accommodate this request, we added a custom booth on the back of the peninsula, a large bar/buffet, a vintage teak table with butterfly leaves, and extra seating bench. To top it off, we added the glamorous gold leaf oversized pendant, which steals the show without being out of proportion to the space.

A far-out Foo Dog basin set fills the powder room’s monolithic black marble sink. The P.E. Guerin fixtures coordinate with gold-tone capsule lighting on either side of a frameless mirror mounted on a matching marble slab, while an undersink marble shelf provides convenient storage below.

Paired frosted glass capsule sconces with warm brass fittings illuminate the artwork from either side, casting a soft, gallery-like glow. The furniture selection is equally considered: a generous cream linen sofa anchors the primary seating area, complemented by a pair of sculptural dark leather swivel lounge chairs with a stone travertine pedestal side table nestled between them. A plush velvet ottoman, a brass arc floor lamp, and a soft gray area rug over wide-plank hardwood floors complete the composition with quiet luxury. Bar & Entertainment Area The bar is nothing short of a showpiece. Custom cabinetry in a sophisticated greige-gray, featuring a mix of flat-panel and reeded/fluted door fronts, is crowned with a jaw-dropping geometric faceted tile backsplash. The tile — a mosaic of black, white, and metallic stone set in a kaleidoscopic diamond pattern — catches the light and shifts dramatically depending on the angle. A pair of oversized brass dome pendant lights hang above a sleek island topped in richly veined dark marble, providing both task lighting and a glamorous focal point. Open shelving built into the backsplash wall displays sculptural art objects — including a carved Buddha head and white abstract sculptures — reinforcing the home's gallery aesthetic. A brass spring-coil faucet, integrated beverage refrigerator, and patterned swirl-print ottomans tucked beneath the island make this bar equally functional and unforgettable. Game Room A complete tonal departure, the game room embraces deep, moody drama through floor-to-ceiling dark olive green walls and ceiling. A large-format sage green square tile accent wall grounds a wall-mounted flat screen TV, while a mahogany billiard table with slate blue felt takes center stage on a vintage-style area rug. A sculptural brass sputnik chandelier overhead adds a touch of glam that keeps the space from feeling too heavy. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light and offer serene woodland views — a beautiful contrast to the room's intentionally dark interior palette. Sitting Room A quieter counterpart to the more dramatic spaces, the sitting room offers a warm, neutral sanctuary. A modern channel-tufted sofa in warm gray is dressed with rust terracotta and watercolor sage pillows. A sculptural tub chair in textured charcoal fabric, a pair of curved bronze ottomans with ribbed white upholstery, and a small dark marble side table complete a seating vignette that feels curated and calm. Signature Art Installation Perhaps the most conversation-starting element in the entire project is a bespoke wall sculpture: dozens of white ceramic pods with gold-leafed interiors, arranged in a sweeping, wave-like pattern across a stairwell or hallway wall. The installation bridges art and architecture, transforming a transitional space into a destination.

LiLu transformed this Mississippi River primary bath by removing faux finishes, faux columns, and 1980s complexity to refocus the room on sky, water, and wellness. Periwinkle walls, a sculptural freestanding tub, full-height windows, a custom reeded blue vanity with brass hardware and dressing area, a white-gray-gold tile inset, capsule sconces, and herringbone marble create a refined, intentional retreat.

This master suite was designed to transport the clients into a world of exquisite, refined luxury. Carefully chosen vintage pieces fused with clean modern sophistication allowed this honeymoon suite to remain a time capsule where the couple could have an encore to a pampered existence.

This most recent remodel project in Albany beautifully marries the charm of the past with the functionality of the present. Under the expert guidance of Project Manager, Steve Shanholtz, and Designer, Sarah McDonald, we transformed this cherished space that had been home to many generations into a modern masterpiece. The client was looking to update the home while preserving its unique history from the 1800s. One of the many standout features of this home was its stunning patterned wood floor which we carefully restored to its former glory. The wood ceiling, another remarkable element of this space, was covered to allow a modern feel as well as create a time capsule for a future owner. We also removed the fireplace fully intact to showcase in a different area of the home. Crisp navy and white cabinets brought a clean and timeless look to the kitchen creating a harmonious blend with the warmth of the island, counters and backsplash. These homeowners were ecstatic upon seeing their request for an island that could house their farm sink AND dishwasher become a reality. This remodel isn’t just about the past, it’s also about the future. We were able to embody the essence of transformation while respecting the history, a true testament to the power of design and the skilled hands of a master craftsman.

Prior to renovation, the time-capsule kitchen in this 1969 home had all of its original cabinets, countertops and appliances. The new homeowners were anxious for a stylish makeover, which included Shaker-style cabinetry in calming blues and grays, new stainless steel appliances, matchstick backsplash and engineered quartz countertops.
