Seated home bar - small mid-century modern single-wall seated home bar idea in Kansas City

This project was inspired by our Blu Grande collection, a perfect paving slab for modern poolsides and backyard design. Blu Grande is a large concrete patio stone available in multiple colors. Its smooth texture is sleek to the eye but rougher to the touch which avoids it from getting slippery when wet. The large rectangular shape works as an easy add-on into Blu 60 regular modular patterns but can also work as a stand-alone to create a very linear look. Check out the HD2 Blu Grande Smooth which is all about seamless looks with a tighter/poreless texture and anti-aging technology. • Project location: Drummondville, Quebec, Canada • Contractor: Alain Carrier Paysagiste • Designer: Alain Carrier

Bring on the color with our Edison Desktop Collection. Each bright piece in the collection is made from epoxy-coated, stamped steel.

The house takes inspiration from an F8 Crusader plane, wings folded, on a carrier deck. A spinal column runs through providing circulation and illumination by sky lights and clerestories, penetrating the core of the house with natural light. This window corner of the kitchen is an anchoring element, with it's use of the rustic pine farm table, decorated with vintage pieces like the beverage carrier, and Chinese lamp. The hand-painted Monterey chair is inviting, and one can imagine sitting down for a cup of coffee mid-morning.

Soft velvety fabric adds another layer of cozy to the game chairs in this rec room.

As a carrier for the NewspaperWood veneer panels, Vij5 was searching for a stable construction with a nice detailing to complement the material rather than to predominate it. The solution was found in a remarkable steel construction designed by Floris Hovers. By cutting away material in the corners of the steel profiles, it is possible to bend the legs into shape. The sizes of the panels are inspired by the sizes of tabloid newspapers. The table tops are created using grey board ‘multiplex’ as carrier, covered with a layer of NewspaperWood ‘veneer’. With this, the material remains recyclable. As a finishing, the panels are coated with a water-based lacquer. NewspaperWood is a new material invented by Mieke Meijer, developed together with the Dutch design label Vij5 and now produced and distributed by a new NewspaperWood company. It returns newspapers, which are made from wood, into wood again. When a NewspaperWood log is cut, the layers of paper appear like lines of a wood grain or the rings of a tree and therefore resemble the aesthetic of real wood. This product is made with the original NewspaperWood material. More information on this material can be found here: www.NewspaperWood.com It is also possible to order the complete series of Tabloid Tables with of Oakwood panels, solid or coloured in light grey. If a table consists out of multiple panels, it is possible to combine NewspaperWood and Oakwood in one table. design by Floris Hovers photo credits by Vij5
