Kitchen/dining room combo - transitional dark wood floor kitchen/dining room combo idea in Nashville with white walls

The breakfast area focal point is seen from the front door and is captured by a beautiful slab of quartzite hung on the wall as art. The sideboard underneath the slab is intricately designed with inlaid mother of pearl and, when opened, lights up to highlight bottles inside. We used the existing table and moved the neutral upholstered chairs from the dining area. The previously built-in bench area used for reading, is now finished off with custom cushions and large throw pillows for a comfortable rest area. The dining area is now complete with colorful dining chairs that transition nicely into the large living area. Because our client loved pattern, we decided to use chairs that had a fun but unusual circle pattern on the back panel and play up the color with a fun striped fabric. This sophisticated game room provides hours of play for a young and active family. The black, white and beige color scheme adds a masculine touch. Wood and iron accents are repeated throughout the room in the armchairs, pool table, pool table light fixture and in the custom built in bar counter. This pool table also accommodates a ping pong table top, as well, which is a great option when space doesn't permit a separate pool table and ping pong table. Since this game room loft area overlooks the home's foyer and formal living room, the modern color scheme unites the spaces and provides continuity of design. A custom white oak bar counter and iron barstools finish the space and create a comfortable hangout spot for watching a friendly game of pool.

For the Stubbs project the goal was to integrate contemporary touches into the families new home. While she is a working Mom of two, he is a traveling rock star of a Dad. The esthetic had to be warm and inviting with a kick! The overall eclectic look included new luxe finishes including polished steel, blackened steel, black walnut slabs, shagreen, and a hair on hide. While the look was exciting family comfort was never sacrificed.
