Damage noted at the lap siding and trim, at the roof sheathing, to the rafter tail caused by uncontrollable exterior moisture sources.
RECOMMENDATION:
Remove trim as necessary. Remove and replace the damaged portions of siding (to match as close as practical) and install new trim at repaired areas only. Remove the roof covering and gutters if necessary to expose damaged areas. Remove all structurally damaged wood members and replace with new material. If removed, reinstall gutters and roof covering to the exposed areas only. Cut out damaged sections and splice in with new material. Re-support rafter tails by attaching a sister wood member of a like size to the repaired area.

Asphalt shingle roof repair in Hanover PA 17331. Wind caused damage to this roof in York County so insurance paid for a full roofing system installation replacement. See more: https://www.jweremodeling.com/roof-replacements-hanover-pa/

For the kitchen, custom two-tone green cabinetry was carefully selected to ensure the perfect match. A hammered copper sink brings brightness to the counter, and the unexpected copper metal finishes complete this kitchen’s aesthetic. Copper also has unique anti-microbial properties, which make it an excellent choice for a kitchen sink. Lastly, the soft grey quartz balances the design in tandem with the backsplash tile that has a muted marble tone and a 3-dimensional diamond profile.
The island front is clad with white kaleidoscope mosaics for visual and aesthetic interest, as well as serving a functional purpose. The clients own a dog, which scratched at the wooden millwork causing damage. For that purpose, we chose tiles to ensure the longevity of the new kitchen. At the very end of the island, a “dog cave” was carved out to keep his food and water.

I FEEL MODE | This feature allows the unit to sense the room temperature from the remote control which is closest to you, instead of the indoor unit, this means that it will adjusts for airflow and temperature for maximum personal comfort in cooling mode.

This project involved approximately 200 sq. ft. of Mohawk Boardwalk Collective Graphite flooring after a spill damaged around 10 planks and caused visible bubbling in the affected area.
The repair started with moving furniture and carefully removing the existing quarter-round. I was able to save all of the original trim without breaking it, so it could be reused once the flooring repair was finished.
From there, the existing floating floor was carefully taken apart until I reached the damaged section. The affected boards were identified and marked, the damaged flooring was removed, and matching Mohawk Boardwalk Collective Graphite LVP was installed in its place. Any original planks that were still in good condition were reused rather than unnecessarily replacing more flooring.
Once everything was back together, the original quarter-round was reinstalled and the repair was finished without needing to replace the entire floor.
This is a good example of why an LVP repair can be very different from a normal flooring installation. Sometimes the biggest part of the job is carefully taking the existing floor apart, keeping everything organized, replacing only the damaged material, and then putting the room back together without creating additional damage.

the tile was cracked in several places letting water through to the substrate and causing damage.
I have to see if I have the pictures somewhere, but the support for the toilet was completely rotted through. The whole floor moved when you sat on it!
I ended up tearing out the substrate and replacing a floor joist, beneath the toilet.
Water damage is no joke. The toilet was ready to fall into the crawl space.

The homeowners contacted us regarding damage to the siding and trim caused by woodpeckers. However, they wanted to maintain as much of the original siding as possible. The scope of work posed a challenge due to the need to match the grey wash shakes and the repairs to the ornate posts at the front of the home. The trim is where the majority of the damage occurred so, we replaced and repainted the trim; following the trim repair, we moved onto the posts in the front of the house. We were able to find similar crown molding for the posts and the homeowners elected to replace it as opposed to repairing the one side to ensure a consistent appearance. While repairing the shakes we noticed damage to the roof which appeared to have been caused by a wind storm; after advising the homeowners of our findings they chose to file a claim with their insurance due to the damages. We worked with the insurance company to document the damages and got the roof approved. The homeowners selected a class 3 Owens Corning shingle, and black vents and flashing. Now that the work has been completed the homeowners have the peace of mind that their exterior will stand the test of time, and bring tradition and character in the design of the neighborhood.

Winter is always tough on your home. This past winter was no picnic with the snow and cold. By the time spring (really) arrives, your chimney has put up with months of freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and the constant freeze-thaw cycle that quietly does damage you can't always see from the outside. That's why a spring chimney inspection isn't just a good idea, it’s essential to have your chimney checked before storm season begins. Here’s why:
Water Is Your Chimney's Worst Enemy
Here's something that most homeowners don’t know: chimney leaks cause more damage to masonry chimneys than fire does. Think about that a moment. While everyone worries about creosote and chimney fires — and rightfully so — water is silently doing just as much, if not more, damage.
Unlike the rest of your home, which is sheltered by your roof and eaves, your chimney stands fully exposed above the roofline. It takes on rain, wind, snow, and every freeze-thaw cycle winter throws at it, all while absorbing moisture into its porous masonry materials. That water expands and contracts, causing cracks, structural stress, and integrity loss that accumulates over time. The worst part? Chimney leaks are often subtle and slow-moving. By the time you notice water damage inside your home, the problem has usually become more serious, and expensive.
What a Spring Inspection Actually Catches
A professional spring chimney inspection, such as Superior Chimney’s, goes well beyond a quick visual check. A CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep technician will evaluate your entire system — inside and out — looking for the most common sources of chimney leaks and damage, including cracked chimney crowns, deteriorated brick and mortar joints, damaged or missing chimney caps, faulty chimney flashing and roof leaks, chimney slab gaps, and flue gas condensation from improperly sized chimney liners.
Any one of these issues left without a proper inspection, heads into spring storm season is an open invitation for water damage. And as Superior Chimney has discussed, masonry water damage is a progressive problem — the longer it goes unrepaired, the costlier the fix becomes.
What You Can Do Right Now
The good news is that most chimney water damage is preventable. The key steps are:
• have a professional-grade chimney cap installed if you don't already have one
• repair or replace a damaged chimney crown
• address any deteriorated brick and mortar
• fix leaky flashing and
• consider having your chimney professionally waterproofed. Waterproofing alone can save you significantly on future repair costs.
What’s Next?
Superior Chimney always includes a free 14-Point Certified Written Inspection with photo documentation via email with every chimney sweep. This helps you to know exactly what condition your chimney is in and what, if anything, needs attention.
Don't wait, have your chimney checked before storm season begins to reveal a problem that's been building all winter.

A Seeping Chimney Can Cause Long-Term Damage
A seeping chimney is a slow, gradual way of water entering into the home and causing damage slowly, steadily and over time. The seeping chimney damage can range from a minor repair to something far more extensive. However, when it comes to water, it certainly doesn’t play nice with the materials your home is made from, including your chimney.
Let’s take a look at some of the various damage that can occur when your chimney leaks and makes its way to the various part of your home.
Wall Damage
One of the most obvious telltale signs of a water leak from the seeping chimney is wall damage. When it reaches your walls, the paint can peel, the wall can little bubbles or even the drywall can begin to chip away. No different if you have crown molding, wood paneling or other decorative aspects to your walls. Water can make the varnish peel and cause discoloration.
When your chimney isn’t inspected each year by a certified technician, these damages can be very expensive to repair.
Mold Growth
Many of us have experienced mold in the bathroom. Why? Because it is a perfect place for mold to grow. You have the perfect main ingredient. Moisture. If a seeping chimney allows for moisture to enter your home, it can create a perfect scenario for mold to grow. Mold can be harmful to your heath, especially if you have health issues such as asthma, allergies or emphysema to name a few.
By maintaining a healthy chimney equipped with a chimney crown, chimney cap and a waterproofing solution called Chimney Saver, you can keep moisture out and your health in good shape.
Soft Wood, Walls & More
When water gets at wood or walls, and it drips over time, the wood and wall material turn soft and falls apart. This rotting makes the wood or walls flaky to the touch and can cause structural damage. There’s another issue that comes with rotting wood or water-logged walls…bugs and pests. This is the perfect vacation spot for bugs and pests. Keeping them out of your home is a top priority.
Keep unwanted visitors out of your home by having an inspection on the chimney, the flue and down to the fireplace completed. Contact us today at 877-244-6349. We’re right here in Lombard, IL, close to where you reside.
What You Can’t See Can Hurt You
One way to ensure wall damage, mold spores and deteriorating wood and walls don’t happen is to get a yearly inspection on the chimney. Whether you have a gas or wood burning fireplace, use it all the time or not, rain water is still active trying to find its way into your home. Don’t give it that chance. Keep on top of it with a yearly inspection.
Contact us today at 877-244-6349 to set an appointment for a fireplace clean and check for a certified chimney inspection.
