The tile backsplash is Bliss Linear Glass Midnight and Elon Ledgerstone Ordino Beige. “My biggest challenge in designing the space was to optimize it for functionality that would fit some of the constraints like the large window and small doorway,” said Hunt. “My favorite aspect is the boldness of the black counter top and the backsplash. Gregg Waller of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Wilmington, NC collaborated with JC Hazelton Builders to design a farmhouse inspired kitchen featuring Green Forest and Masterpiece cabinetry. The kitchen features Green Forest cabinets in the Park Place door style with a White finish for the perimeter, complemented with an island in the Masterpiece door style Turner in Maple with a Shortbread finish. Appliances and countertops were provided by others. The client expressed their appreciation saying, “I literally love every aspect of our kitchen. It is exactly what we wanted. We did not have to sacrifice our vision which was a welcome experience. Gregg was so helpful in hearing what we wanted and then delivering. His knowledge about the products available really helped us achieve our design goals. He created digital examples of our kitchen, laundry and bathrooms which helped us in making our final decision.” “The biggest challenge that I faced was creating the look the client wanted in their new home while staying within a budget that was set prior to our introduction. I decided that Green Forest Park Place cabinets would be the best choice for the majority of the project. Masterpiece cabinets were needed to get the exact color that the client wanted for the kitchen island,” explained Gregg. “My favorite part of the design is the range wall. I like the way the warm wood tones of the hood balance the white shaker cabinets and brick backsplash. The clients were an absolute pleasure to work with. The first goal of this project was to address challenges with the home’s flooring and plumbing system. Additionally, the renovation of the guest and master bathrooms was required to meet the client’s preferences and enhance functionality. Ensuring that the new flooring and foundation repair solved the existing crack issue was a crucial aspect of the project. The remodel of the guest bathroom was aimed at making it more suitable for children’s use, while the overhaul of the master bathroom considered the overall style and functionality preferred by the client. Ultimately, the project aimed to enhance the aesthetic appeal and value of the client’s home while addressing the various renovation requirements.

On this project, our team had the challenge of hand cutting and installing bay and gable miters. The end result is work a piece of craftsmanship, our client, Wayne, will enjoy for years to come.

They always loved their house – its shape and size, and the piece of land it sits on; but the interior left a lot to be desired. In fact, they hated it. They wanted it to be aesthetically more pleasing and to have much more function and flow. These homeowners challenged Lagois to make it the home of their dreams, and that’s exactly what happened. One of the homeowners loves to cook, but the kitchen was dark. The space was difficult and frustrating. The new kitchen is bigger, brighter, and more functional. It now has all the prep space he needs and the task lighting he always wanted. They also love their new spa bathroom, which is beautiful and warm and exactly what they had in mind. One of the homeowners describes himself as fussy and impatient, and at first he had been anxious about the whole prospect of renovation. He said afterwards that the team made him feel comfortable, listened to, and unconcerned. One factor that made them so at ease with choosing Lagois was the “in house” aspect of their services. The person who designed their home, the one who did the drawings, and the person who managed the construction are all Lagois employees. Acton, MA 2008 sq ft varies Visioning, programming, concept design, schematic design, construction documentation and construction administration The HingeHouse project was the result of a unique partnership between an independent architect and a pre-fabricated home manufacturer – a partnership among the first of its kind in the country. Today, many pre-fab companies have adopted this collaborative approach recognizing that homeowners are looking for unique, custom homes while taking advantage of reliable and predictable construction methods and costs. In 2008, the partnership was created to rethink pre-engineered post-and-beam and panelized systems to connect clients to a more modern and integrated set of design values. By integrating systems, factory design approach, manufacturing methodologies and construction sequences with design criteria grounded in sustainable planning and rigorous implementation, HingeHouse was developed. HingeHouse is a fully-customizable pre-fab home which can be configured to meet the needs of any site, and any family. It is flexible and expandable using Deck House engineered building components. Starting with basic floor plans that are optimized spatially to Deck’s standard components, the living spaces are rotated around a "hinge” point. This design solution addresses the limitations and challenges of a particular site, while highlighting the best aspects of it. HingeHouse considers passive solar orientation depending on where the home is placed on the site and how it is “hinged”. It provides for maximum cross-ventilation from prevailing winds, preserves existing site formations and trees, and works on sloping grades. It addresses specific desired views while mitigating unwanted adjacencies, and provides great flexibility for entry sequences. HingeHouse uses Deck’s standard sloped roof post-and-beam component system to create a lyrical, light-filled home. The western red cedar exterior is sculptural and dynamic. Interior spaces are lofty, with great view potential using Deck’s own custom-made mahogany windows. The “hinge” of the home, where the two building forms come together, has the added benefit of creating a desirable outdoor living room, complete with an outdoor fireplace. The "hinge” provides both a tool for maximizing customization and spatial orientation and a center of activity at the heart of the home. The Rancho Estate provides a level of luxury that sets it apart from any residence in Los Angeles, breaking the record for the most expensive home ever sold in the Encino area. The Eden Group worked with the client to achieve all their development goals by providing integrated design and engineering services which developed concurrently achieving project milestones while staying within the construction budget. Our residential design team used modern aesthetics which entailed of design elements tailored to provide spacious and unparalleled views of the San Fernando Valley. Attracting a dream buyer is the most important aspect in the eyes of any real estate developer and that is why we chose two words to describe the amenities we incorporated into the design: Vast & Spectacular. The estate allows you to swim with infinite views, get your work out on at the indoor gym, shoot hoops with your friends in the indoor basketball court, go for a round of bowling with your child, chomp on popcorn in your theater, get a massage after the steam room at your private spa, putt a couple hole-in-ones, and if you get bored you can always choose to go for a ride from the collection inside your 16-car garage. Majestic high ceilings mixed wide span openings created a challenge for our engineers given the strict rules in the Baseline Hillside Ordinance and the California Building Code. Our structural engineers prepared innovative design plans which entailed of 150 deep pile foundations mixed with steel and laminated timber framing members. We also used permanent shoring techniques to reduce construction cost by eliminating the need for temporary shoring plans for both the structure foundation and on-site retaining walls. Given that California has some of the strictest stormwater management requirements and the total amount of non-permeable areas on this project, the client was required to construct a 35,000-gallon rain harvesting tank per the Low Impact Development Plan Best Management Practice (BMP’s) standards. Our specialized drainage design team captured all on-site stormwater through trench drains, area drains, and downspouts which routed water to a mechanical sump pump that connected to the storage tank for irrigation use later. Innovative design engineering techniques used on this project allowed for increased safety and sustainability making the Rancho Estate a masterpiece of contemporary construction.

Room enough for a blended family was the challenge for this full home remodel completed by DJL Builders. This two story remodel expresses simply elegant coloration combined with classic elements and detailing. Modern Citi Group helped Andrew and Malabika in their renovation journey, as they sought to transform their 2,400 sq ft apartment in Sutton Place. This comprehensive renovation project encompassed both architectural and construction components. On the architectural front, it involved a legal combination of the two units and layout adjustments to enhance the overall functionality, create an open floor plan and improve the flow of the residence. The construction aspect of the remodel included all areas of the home: the kitchen and dining room, the living room, three bedrooms, the master bathroom, a powder room, and an office/den. Throughout the renovation process, the primary objective remained to modernize the apartment while ensuring it aligned with the family’s lifestyle and needs. The design challenge was to deliver the modern aesthetics and functionality while preserving some of the existing design features. The designers worked on several layouts and design visualizations so they had options. Finally, the choice was made and the family felt confident in their decision. From the moment the permits were approved, our construction team set out to transform every corner of this space. During the building phase, we meticulously refinished floors, walls, and ceilings, replaced doors, and updated electrical and plumbing systems. The main focus of the renovation was to create a seamless flow between the living room, formal dining room, and open kitchen. A stunning waterfall peninsula with pendant lighting, along with Statuario Nuvo Quartz countertop and backsplash, elevated the aesthetics. Matte white cabinetry was added to enhance functionality and storage in the newly remodeled kitchen. The three bedrooms were elevated with refinished built-in wardrobes and custom closet solutions, adding both usability and elegance. The fully reconfigured master suite bathroom, included a linen closet, elegant Beckett double vanity, MSI Crystal Bianco wall and floor tile, and high-end Delta and Kohler fixtures. In addition to the comprehensive renovation of the living spaces, we've also transformed the office/entertainment room with the same great attention to detail. Complete with a sleek wet bar featuring a wine fridge, Empira White countertop and backsplash, and a convenient adjacent laundry area with a renovated powder room. The challenge of combining the kitchen and former dinette area into a family gathering area was successful. The new kitchen accommodates multiple cooks with various, convenient work centers and excellent traffic flow. The primary goal of the design team for the kitchen area remodel was to produce a well designed and fully equipped space, built with high quality materials in a contemporary style that were multi-functional while serving as a gathering spot. The kitchen was designed to aid the cooks with all aspects of food preparation, whether for the family or entertaining. The kitchen space features a renovated side entry that enlarged the opening to the kitchen from 30" to 42", and the former closet space was eliminated and a smaller more functional closet was built in over the stairs to the basement. The step down to the side entry was extended into this space, creating more floor space for guests as well as more inviting view to the kitchen. The kitchen now extends into the dinette as one space, providing and abundance of work centers for multiple cooks. The space features two ovens, including a built in GE Profile Advantium unit that replaced frequently used toaster oven, storage, and an organized message center, all open to the dinette. The homeowners have commented on how they often "giggle" with delight at the transformation when they enter the kitchen each morning.
