The trellised terrace opens up to a quieter view of a magnificent existing redwood grove. A bluestone footbridge crosses a bioswale filled with clusters of ornamental grasses and perennials. In the distance, an existing below-grade greenhouse, renovated as part of the project program.

An awkward and disjointed addition to the original house was eliminated and opened up with some very strategic structural and space changes; The original kitchen and dining were chopped up by a large chimney and low, disjointed structural beams. The new expansive walnut butcherblock island and shaker-style kitchen is the focal point of the home, with sitelines throughout the house all the way from the entry to the living room addition.

Major gut renovation of this coastal estate preserved its basic layout while expanding the kitchen. A veranda and a pair of gazebos were also added to the home to maximize outdoor living and the water views. The interior merged the homeowners eclectic style with the traditional style of the home.
