These Brown Fantasy Leathered quartzite countertops are the star of this kitchen. With sweeping hues of brown, tan, gray, and white, the movement in this natural stone carries your eye throughout the space. The homeowners' installed a complimentary glass tile backsplash which looks fabulous against their white cabinetry. A framed insert of glass and stone mosaic tile above the stove makes a great focal point. They also have a Shaw farmhouse sink which looks out to a gorgeous view of their backyard.

I began working with the owners of this house in 2013. We started with the living and dining rooms. No new furniture was purchased, but the rooms transformed when we changed the wall and ceiling colors, added lighting and light fixtures, rearranged artwork, rugs and furniture. We softened the windows and added privacy with very simple linen Roman blinds. We used the same linen to slipcover the sofa. Early in 2015, we tackled the most difficult room. The relatively small family room has disproportionately high ceilings. We worked to minimize the "elevator shaft" feeling of the room by replacing the previously "wimpy" mantel, surround and hearth with a design and combination of materials that stand up to the height of the room. In addition to treating the two sets of windows stacked at ground level and again at 8' as one tall window, we painted the ceiling chocolate brown which is reflected at floor level by the new rug (Dash and Albert - Nigel) and hearth stone. A minimalist bathroom that meets the needs of every household member. In this room we have instaled a new toilet, free standing vanity unit complete with sink and tap, new lighting, paper holder, towel holder, luxurious lower level bath with walk-in shower and brown tiles with white grouting.

This Pied-a Terre in the city was designed to be a comfortable haven for this client. She loves to cook and interact with her husband at the same time. The main walls of the kitchen were removed to incorporate the entire living space. Sleek high end appliances were utilized to minimize the look of the kitchen and enhance a furniture look. Sleek European Cabinetry extends into the living space to create a media center that doubles as a buffet for the terrace. The tall monolithic column conceals the built in coffee machine on the kitchen side. The tiered soffits define the kitchen space while functionally allowing for recessed lighting. The warm chocolate and sand colored palette allows the kitchen to integrate cohesively with the remainder of the apartment.
