Our new project. To implement it, we were invited by the company in San Francisco. We had a very difficult task to do. The building in which we had to install sound-absorbing panels has a historical and architectural value, and the main thing was not to harm anything. And at the moment the building is used by the federal government, so that the work had to be carried out quickly and quietly, not to disturb the employees working in the building. We have carefully selected materials, so that the shade of color on the wall would be completely coincided with shade of the fabric set. In the choice, we stopped at a specially made for this purpose CLIPSO sound-absorbing fabric. This material is better than any other for this kind of work: 1) Clipso Sound Proof is specially designed for sound absorption. 2) This material is made of synthetic fabric impregnated with polyurethane, it is ready to cope with significant operational loads in public buildings. 3) The texture of the material looks like a canvas, which creates an additional atmosphere of comfort and harmony with every interior of the premises where we have installed it. In the base, behind the CLIPSO fabric, we have installed an additional layer of sound-absorbing material. This combination has increased the sound absorption to a factor of 1.0 (100%). All premises in which the work was carried out was provided to us for 3 days. During this time, we had to remove all lights, grille ventilation systems, as well as safety sensors and fire extinguishing systems. Then install the mounting profile in the places told by the architects,mount a layer of sound-absorbing material and sound-absorbing fabric CLIPSO. Then, it was necessary to put back all dismantled equipment. With this task we coped.

Cantoni is Designer's Choice for this Palatial Home in South Carolina. Cantoni partners on many projects with architects, interior designers, developers, realtors and others in the trade. The featured project in this eNewsletter is a spectacular example of a recent partnering between Susan Sentell ASID, Beaux Monde, Inc., Cumming, Georgia, and Design Consultant Kohl Sudnikovich of Cantoni Atlanta. While inspired by classic Italian architecture, this palatial home is not in the foothills of Italy’s Apennines but in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina. When we saw the images of this stunning home and what went into planning and executing its interiors, I thought: here’s a perfect illustration of Cantoni’s branding theme: Great Design Is A Way of Life. Design isn’t just something cosmetic, something tacked on, but the very essence of a residence’s personality and of the personality of the people who make the house a home. This sensational South Carolina project is a superb example of Cantoni’s Great Design theme brought to life. According to Kohl, Cantoni’s involvement kicked in when Susan, whom he’d worked with before, contacted him to consult on furniture collections that would help her fulfill her and her client’s overall design theme. Susan says, "This is a 5,800-sq. ft. new construction designed by a prestigious national architectural group. Given the Mediterranean-influenced elevation and the client’s wish for an airy, Italian-contemporary interior treatment I felt Cantoni was the best source for furnishing some of the main rooms. "The theme of our project we called, ‘The Goddess House’ for its ethereal look and feel– open, warm, free, filled with light and natural colors, flowing with sophisticated detail. For this Brooklyn condo renovation, Gallery Kitchen and Bath updated the entire kitchen and both bathrooms, as well as painted and laid out new flooring throughout the entire apartment. The owners wanted to unite the seeming medley of the existing space into a cohesive design more representative of their own style. With its ultra-high ceilings and exposed joints and beams, the space already lent itself to the farmhouse look. The end result is a modernized, eclectic farmhouse style that we keenly carried throughout the home. MORE DETAILS Compelling textures and color combos reign supreme. The kitchen features semi-custom Shaker-style stone gray cabinets, a white subway tile backsplash running all the way up the wall, and white quartz countertops. We built the island in part to create a pleasing yet efficient flow from the kitchen into the living and dining areas as the space was opened up. We also painted the plumbing stack white to not make it stand out. We also redesigned the bathrooms, giving each a unique treatment. In the master bath, we took a Victorian-goes-modern approach with coral walls, champagne fixtures, and a clawfoot tub. In the guest bathroom, we stuck to a transitional style that approaches modern without becoming contemporary, pairing herringbone marble floor tiles with a mix of subway and penny tiles on the walls and in the shower. Both maintain elements, such as tiles, fixtures, and colors, that coordinate with the overall eclectic farmhouse look. HOW WE COLLABORATE Collaboration with our clients to their desired degree is one of our core pillars. In this condo renovation, the clients wanted central air and were initially considering a true central air system. We advised against it, as not only would it take away from the unique beauty of unusually tall ceilings by adding unsightly ductwork, but it would also significantly detract from the farmhouse look. Instead, we suggested a mini-split system. Our recommended units were both cost-effective and much more complementary to the comprehensive theme. Of course, we ultimately always honor the clients’ choices but it’s just as important to us that we make sure to provide all the necessary information so our clients can make educated decisions that are best for their needs. SPACE PLANNING Another key element of the renovation process is space planning. From this perspective, we consider the placement and positioning of objects with regard to the overall flow of space. The building where this renovation took place is U-shaped at one end, which happens to be where this particular apartment is located. Uniquely-shaped spaces naturally require more concentration than those built in the standard rectangular shape. Questions we consider include: Where will people really spend time in this space? What will the flow of foot traffic be? Is there easy access to the kitchen island? Does it flow well into the hallways? Does the island protrude into anything? Working in New York, with its variety of homes and architectural styles, has greatly developed our experience with standard spaces and unconventional ones alike.
