In this gorgeous Carmel residence, the primary objective for the great room was to achieve a more luminous and airy ambiance by eliminating the prevalent brown tones and refinishing the floors to a natural shade. The kitchen underwent a stunning transformation, featuring white cabinets with stylish navy accents. The overly intricate hood was replaced with a striking two-tone metal hood, complemented by a marble backsplash that created an enchanting focal point. The two islands were redesigned to incorporate a new shape, offering ample seating to accommodate their large family. In the butler's pantry, floating wood shelves were installed to add visual interest, along with a beverage refrigerator. The kitchen nook was transformed into a cozy booth-like atmosphere, with an upholstered bench set against beautiful wainscoting as a backdrop. An oval table was introduced to add a touch of softness. To maintain a cohesive design throughout the home, the living room carried the blue and wood accents, incorporating them into the choice of fabrics, tiles, and shelving. design: Carrie Preston (Studio TOOP) and Jasper Helmantel (Cruydt Hoeck), 2011 location: Appeltern, NL status: built in 2012 by Appeltern Model Garden Complex photos: Jolanthe Lalkens, June 2013 Designed as assignment from both the Dutch gardening magazine Groei & Bloei and the television and radio nature program Vara's Vroege Vogels, this garden serves as a model of how homeowners can incorporate lots of plant life and wildlife into the design but without sacrificing practicality or aesthetics. The garden is deliberately contemporary in its style to emphasize that nature-rich gardens need not look a certain way - insects and birds don't care if the lines are straight or curved. At the same time the garden makes use of affordable, simple, no-nonsense materials. The 40x60 cm paving stones are one of the most common and affordable paving options in the Netherlands, available en masse for free on the Internet. Conceptually we imagined a garden completely paved with the tiles (as to many gardens are) and what would happen if took out some of these stones, used them to build benches and structure and added plants where the tiles had been. In the construction of the benches we include other materials such as bamboo sticks and insulation bricks that create habitat for insects such as solitary bees. The plant palette is based on a selection of native and host plants in combination with the 26 plants plan set up by Groei & Boei -- a list of plants aimed at making the use of more plants in gardens accessible and less intimidating. The choice for the number 26 corresponds with the number of letters in the alphabet in line with the famous Dutch garden designer Mien Ruy's comment that if we only need 26 letters to create a whole language, we should be able to combine and mix 26 plants to express far more than we think.

Design by Peter Salerno, Tile was bought at Artistic Tile., This was the People's Choice for Best Kitchen by HGTV at KBIS in 2016, the North East Sub Zero Design Competition Regional Winner, as well as an award winner by the NKBA. This kitchen features the color scheme most people think of when they imagine "transitional." We put a twist on it by creating a new door style to break away from the over-done and simplistic shaker door, mixing in a custom hood by Rangecraft, adding some polished tin on the ceiling, and having an entire wall covered in water jet marble tile. This is a truly royal space for people that crave modern design.

Redolent of Cape Cod and other seaside locales, the pool house is appointed with relaxed furnishings — slip-covered sofas, rugged tables and sturdy, natural fiber area rugs. In keeping with the industrial/modern look, a Gregorios Pineo chandelier and Jamie Young Steampunk floor lamp illuminate the interiors. Cleverly concealing the entertainment center when not in use, a sliding barn door, created from reclaimed lumber from a farm in Oregon, gives the structure a rustic, relaxed feel. It’s become the family’s hangout of choice since completion. A small galley kitchen, covered in Ann Sacks tile and custom shelves, serves as wet bar and food prep area for the family and their guests for frequent pool parties. Vinyl covered walls in the powder room protects from moisture—and kid paws—and lends a beach-y, sandstone texture to the room. Polished concrete flooring carries out to the pool deck connecting the spaces, including a cozy sitting area flanked by a board form concrete fireplace, and appointed with comfortable couches for relaxation long after dark. Poolside chaises provide multiple options for lounging and sunbathing, and expansive Nano doors poolside open the entire structure to complete the indoor/outdoor objective. The featured project in this eNewsletter is a spectacular example of a recent partnering between Susan Sentell ASID, Beaux Monde, Inc., Cumming, Georgia, and Design Consultant Kohl Sudnikovich of Cantoni Atlanta. While inspired by classic Italian architecture, this palatial home is not in the foothills of Italy’s Apennines but in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina. When we saw the images of this stunning home and what went into planning and executing its interiors, I thought: here’s a perfect illustration of Cantoni’s branding theme: Great Design Is A Way of Life. Design isn’t just something cosmetic, something tacked on, but the very essence of a residence’s personality and of the personality of the people who make the house a home. This sensational South Carolina project is a superb example of Cantoni’s Great Design theme brought to life. According to Kohl, Cantoni’s involvement kicked in when Susan, whom he’d worked with before, contacted him to consult on furniture collections that would help her fulfill her and her client’s overall design theme. Susan says, "This is a 5,800-sq. ft. new construction designed by a prestigious national architectural group. Given the Mediterranean-influenced elevation and the client’s wish for an airy, Italian-contemporary interior treatment I felt Cantoni was the best source for furnishing some of the main rooms. "The theme of our project we called, ‘The Goddess House’ for its ethereal look and feel– open, warm, free, filled with light and natural colors, flowing with sophisticated detail. I felt Cantoni was the right choice to help us carry out the theme. I knew Cantoni not only for its Italian design but for the quality of its products and depth and breadth of its selection. "After creating furniture plans and the overall palette, I contacted Kohl and asked him to consult with us on Cantoni pieces that would realize our plans for the living room, dining room, master bedroom, media room and outdoor. Our new project. To implement it, we were invited by the company in San Francisco. We had a very difficult task to do. The building in which we had to install sound-absorbing panels has a historical and architectural value, and the main thing was not to harm anything. And at the moment the building is used by the federal government, so that the work had to be carried out quickly and quietly, not to disturb the employees working in the building. We have carefully selected materials, so that the shade of color on the wall would be completely coincided with shade of the fabric set. In the choice, we stopped at a specially made for this purpose CLIPSO sound-absorbing fabric. This material is better than any other for this kind of work: 1) Clipso Sound Proof is specially designed for sound absorption. 2) This material is made of synthetic fabric impregnated with polyurethane, it is ready to cope with significant operational loads in public buildings. 3) The texture of the material looks like a canvas, which creates an additional atmosphere of comfort and harmony with every interior of the premises where we have installed it. In the base, behind the CLIPSO fabric, we have installed an additional layer of sound-absorbing material. This combination has increased the sound absorption to a factor of 1.0 (100%). All premises in which the work was carried out was provided to us for 3 days. During this time, we had to remove all lights, grille ventilation systems, as well as safety sensors and fire extinguishing systems. Then install the mounting profile in the places told by the architects,mount a layer of sound-absorbing material and sound-absorbing fabric CLIPSO. Then, it was necessary to put back all dismantled equipment. With this task we coped.
