A stunning mountain retreat, this custom legacy home was designed by MossCreek to feature antique, reclaimed, and historic materials while also providing the family a lodge and gathering place for years to come. Natural stone, antique timbers, bark siding, rusty metal roofing, twig stair rails, antique hardwood floors, and custom metal work are all design elements that work together to create an elegant, yet rustic mountain luxury home.

Requirements: An original personal design with a variety of materials. The original design was more complicated with a porch and dormer but time was limited. A redesign was made to use the following materials to complete the house: Popsicle sticks, dowel rods, pebbles from a garden and around the outside of a residential house, hot glue, toothpicks, foam board and acrylic brown paint. Scrap oak wood was used for the inside floor, left over from previous construction-related jobs. The pictures below illustrate the outcome, given as a Christmas Gift.

Mixed magnolia leaf garland and wreaths frame this entryway. Pulling from the garland, we filled the containers with more magnolia, cedars and spruce. Winter berry holly branches, Red Twig Dogwood branches, pine cones and River Birch branches help fill these containers and bring them to life.

Christmas Jewel Hollies are the perfect option for flower beds close to a house. Christmas Jewels only grow to 6-8' wide so they have a much smaller rootball than other large shrubs.

This bluestone courtyard is complimented by four zinc planters, each one planted with a Red Beauty Holly, and lit for Christmas. Surrounding each holly is mixed winter greens, red ribbon and red Christmas ornaments.

Glass yule logs are lit from within by battery-operated LED lights and set in place with polished river stones. This is an easy way to enhance a non-working fireplace.
