Northfield, IL kitchen remodel has an open floor plan which allows for better daylight dispursement. Defining the kitchen, dining, and sitting room space by varying ceiling design and open cabinetry makes the rooms more spacious, yet each space remains well defined. The added skylights in the hall gave natural light in the interior hallway as well as down the lower level stairway. SCD brightened up the dark and dated master bath using a light, neutral palette. Glass mosaic tile adds sparkle to the walls in the tub and shower and contrasts nicely with the matte-finish subway tile. Featured in the AIA San Francisco 2009 Home Tour, this residence in San Francisco’s Glen Park neighborhood underwent a full seismic retrofit and new third story addition. Set in a steeply sloped hillside, the project¬ included extensive rear yard improvements, terraced gardens and a steel bridge that connects the living spaces to the outdoors. A new roof deck takes advantage of the dramatic downtown views. Interior highlights include a custom stair “ribbon” of steel and kumaroo wood, a built-in wine cellar, and dumbwaiter on two levels.

Original 1960’s small beach home. Added master bedroom/bathroom suite and expanded the kitchen with the extensive addition. Re routed stair case to have open concept foyer. All new interior finishes, plumbing and electrical. Outdoor room heavy timber construction craftsman style, major structural changes in order to create open concept living.

This space was completely gutted and remodeled, removing walls to allow for a totally open living space with emphasis on the ocean view. The client was looking for a complete renovation of the kitchen with sleek lines and simple aesthetics paired with a pale color palette. The partial removal of the shared kitchen / dining room, and kitchen / living room walls achieved the open concept. White, high gloss, glass and chrome finishes throughout the kitchen created a bright refreshing space with a modern esthetic. The bright white was contrasted with dark luxury vinyl flooring that resists wear and tear better than hardwoods. Strategically placed lighting is both functional and adds to the beauty of this kitchen gathering place.
